Chapter 17 - Welcome home Tahra

The last thing Tahra wanted was to be late on her first day, which was why she made sure to get to the gate five minutes before 8, doing her best to make a good first impression.

Something she later regretted since it gave the border security personnel more than enough time to badmouth her to her face.

First was the curious glances from men and women alike. This was then followed by the harsh whispers of which she could barely hear. Right after were the loud ones, which they wanted her to hear.

"She's the rejected Luna of Pack Z isn't she? She doesn't look that special and her aura is terribly weak. How strong do you think her wolf is?"

"That's not even important, I heard that the reason she was rejected was because she cheated with the Alpha with four men,"

"What? Are you for real? So shameless!"

"I don't think so! I heard it was an orgy with five men and it was the day before the initiation ceremony. There's even a video of it but I haven't been able to get hold of it!"

At first, Tahra had no issues ignoring them, pretending that they were air and she was nothing but stone.

But it wasn't until she heard about the video and the possibility that it could start spreading that she finally panicked, raising her head to look in their direction as they stood a few feet in front of her.

'Ignore them! If I engage, it would only give them an excuse to insult me even more!" Tahra decided with a stoic expression on her face as she stared into thin air.

Seconds ticked by and their words only got more vulgar as they spoke.

"I heard she moaned like a b**** in heat,"

"Yeah, apparently she has an innocent face but she'll let anyone through her legs,"

"I won't mind having a taste. She doesn't look half bad. Moreover, I can cross sex with an almost-luna off my list!" Another said, as they looked at Tahra with different expressions on their face.

Some were disgusted while others had lewd expressions as their gaze slid down Tahra's body. Regardless, Tahra continued to stand there, completely ignoring them which finally pissed one of them off.

"Hey! Hey! What's your name?" He asked. Big as a brute with well defined muscles but an average face that would have been hard to remember.

"Are you deaf? I'm talking to you?" He continued in a louder tone closing the distance between them but Tahra simply ignored him. Confident that if she didn't she would have been tempted to slap the manners he didn't have into him.

"Hey! I'm talking to you," His voice was much harsher than before even as Tahra continued to stare into mid air without turning around to look at him as she waited for the exact moment when he would touch her.

Almost like she had seen the future, Tahra felt his hand graze the skin of her elbow and instantly raised her leg to kick him hard enough in the place he would never forget when a familiar voice interrupted her.

"LET HER GO!" Garvi's commanding voice echoed out in the air, authoritative enough for the man in front of her to immediately obey. A little annoyed that she could also no longer hit him.

"Munak! It seems you've forgot the statutes of conduct for a border security personnel!" Garvi's tony was icy, cold enough to freeze the entire area.

"I-I apologize commander! I shouldn't have behaved in such a way," He said bowing his head and Tahra's brows instantly shot up as she realized that she needed to reevaluate the way she saw Garvi.

He was middle-aged but the authority he seemed to command wasn't small.

"You all have your schedules for the week! You're dismissed!" He ordered watching them immediately disperse.

Tahra would have also done the same if not that she didn't have her schedule for the week, neither did she have any idea of where she was supposed to go.

"Follow me!" Garvi ordered right before he immediately began moving forward to which Tahra immediately followed, considering she was the only left he could have possibly been talking to.

Walking steadily, he led her into the forest on the right through a path she had seen a few of the border personnel take.

But they had barely been walking for a few minutes through the path when Tahra heard Garvi start to speak.

"You should learn to keep your head down. This place isn't like territory Z"

At first Tahra wondered what he was talking about but it soon became obvious when she heard him continue to speak as he made his annoyance known.

"You would have kicked him and then what? Later on, he alone is big enough to give you a beating you'll never forget!"

"They'll still bully me even if I don't fight back!" Tahra coldly responded wondering why the man seemed to care, considering the fact that she was a foreigner and the man that she had almost attacked was one of his men.

But she had just spoken when Garvi who had been walking in front of her stopped and turned to look at her with a mocking expression on his face.

"Others might not be able to accurately tell but your weak is so weak, to me it would have been better off dead!" Saying it in such a way that startled Tahra who had hoped that that part of her would have remained a secret considering the fact that the last time she shifted to her wolf, she had almost died from the exertion.

"Keep your head down!" He continued in a tone that sounded more like an order right before he turned around and continued walking. " The last thing I need is for you to die and cause problems for our pack!" He said, the tone of annoyance in his voice was much sharper than it previously was.

Garvi then proceeded to lead Tahra to her post where she would stand guard by the Border wall before leaving her there.

It took only thirty minutes into it, looking left and right and not seeing anyone for her to realize just how shitty the job was and why the personel seemed so few.

Surrounded by trees and grass behind her as she rested against the wall, flopping on the ground, Tahra couldn't help but bemoan her situation.

"Welcome to your new life Tahra!" she mumbled under her breath, not wanting to pay attention to her surroundings especially since she couldn't think of anyone that would be stupid enough to break into another territory.

Still, it took only 8 hours later for her to realize that there truly was someone.
