Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 The Pewter Plan

It's been 6 months since my meeting with Steven, and Flint has officially abandoned his children. I feel like a bad person as I knew this was coming, but it's not like there was anything I as an 11-year-old boy could do about it.

For the past 6 months, I've been raising 14 heard of fossil Pokemon the Kabutops, Omastar, Aerodactyl, Armaldo, Cradily, Rampardos, Bastiodon, Carracosta, Archeops, Tyrantrum, Aurorus, Dracozolt, Arctozolt, Dracovish, and Arctovish lines and getting them ready to introduce them into Mt moon once I've gotten permission to turn it into a preserve.

My Gatcha from the past year has added a lot of diversity to Sky Island. As I only buy and train Pokemon that I need for specific purposes the ones I get from the Gatcha get left to wander wild on the island. but there is a method to the madness, for example, take the first Mareep egg I got, I leveled it up to Lv80 and pumped it full of moves, then I bought it a mate leveled it up to Lv60, and pumped it full of moves then I bought them 4 Mareep eggs and let them go and graze. this is basically what I do for any of the non-legendary/mythical Pokemon I get. For Legendaries and mythical it depends on what they want for example, the Heateran living in the main volcano at the center of the island has been leveled up to Lv100 and pumped full of moves but he is a solitary Pokemon who doesn't want to be bothered, but there are also 5 mews on the island 1 I got from Gatcha that went trough the usual welcome package 3 more that I bought through the system and only got leveled up to Lv80 and one Mew that found the island on its own. I also bought a self-updating map from the system that I put in my living room that shows where which Pokemon groups are, their breeding grounds, and which Pokemon require assistance.

The day after Metagross informed me that Brock had gotten in touch with the league due to the disappearance of his father I called Lance to find out about the status of Mt Moon and my permission to develop it.

"Good morning Lance, I'm just calling to find out what's going on in regards to Mt Moon."

"not a good time Kai, Flint the Leader of Pewter Gym just abandoned it and left it in the hands of his son."

"Hmmm, how old is his son? Will he be able to shoulder the weight of carrying one of the 13 pillars?" I asked feigning ignorance.

"The boy just turned 10 and got his first Pokemon 2 days ago he is woefully ill-equipped to be handling a gym let alone one of our main ones"

"If you need I can temporarily take over the gym for the rest of the season."

"Do you have enough rock types to handle it?"

"Yes, but nearly all my rock types are fossil Pokemon."

"Even better you can advertise them and start transforming Mt Moon into a reserve. Can you go to Pewter tomorrow as start as the Interim Gym leader?"

"I'll be there Lance."

that was all that was said about it I set the course of Sky Island to hover over Mt Moon when it got to it and went to sleep.

The next day I had Metagross teleport me to Pewter City and headed to the Gym.

Upon arriving at the gym I met the secretary who tried to get me to leave thinking I was a challenger. Once I informed her of my Identity as the Intirum leader for the remainder of the circuit and handed her my professor's ID she swiftly started to apologize, I waved it off saying she was just doing her job, and told her to keep up the good work. After asking her for the location of Brock's home I headed off to their home.

When I reached their house I knocked on the door and introduced myself to the children. when I informed them that I would be the interim Leader they started to panic thinking that they would lose the gym, which I swiftly denied telling them that I was just here to get Brock onto his feet so that he could take over as the leader either until their father comes home, one of the siblings decide to take over, brock decides to be the leader full time or they retire the gym. I also informed them of the fact that I was a Pokemon professor who specializes in alternate types of breeding and fossil-type Pokemon which got both Brock and Forrest excited.

After that, I headed off to the Police Station and Pokecentre to introduce myself to the Nurse Joy's and Office Jenny's and inform them of the situation and informing them that Mt Moon will be turned into a reserve and that there will be a ranger station set up here during the next 18 months.

Then I headed off to Mt Moon with Metagross and Porygon-z to make notes on what I would need to do to turn the mountain into a reserve and to see if I could get away with buying some material veins to place them in the mountain to boost the economy.

After a quick once-over, I left Porygon-z to plan out making the Mountain Habitable for each of the 14 Pokemon groups that I plan to move into here.

Setting off from Mt Moon I went back to the gym to check its finances, and what I saw disappointed me. The gym was a financial sinkhole seeming to drink money and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. I call in Metagross to check the paperwork and find out where the money was going as it clearly wasn't being used on the gym. After a while Metagross informed me that the majority of funds are being used to pay tax on the gym.

'huh that doesn't seem right gyms are owned by the league, so is the land the gym is built on. Also the position of a gym leader doesn't exempt them from tax but it allows them to pay no tax on gym related activities.' I thought to myself.

Calling Porygon-z from his planning I asked it to trace where the funds are going and imagine my suprise when all of it was being pocketed by the mayor. I immediatly told it it go back to its work on Mt Moon. After a quick call to Lance to put me in contact with the Leagues Finance Department and filling in both of them with what was going on it doesn't look like the mayor will be much of a problem once they finish going over the books.

Then I set aside some time to talk to Brock and his siblings I gave them a Sky Island Teleport Badge and told them if they are ever in trouble to crush the badge and it will teleport them to my home. Also I informed Brock that for the remainder of this Circuit he will be learning from me about how to take care of Pokémon specifically fossils as he will eventually be incharge of Mt Moon as the Gym Leader of Pewter City I also informed him that after those 6 months he will be going on his journey and that he didn't have to worry about his siblings, while I might not be confidant in myself to take care of 1 kid let alone 9 but I had requested help from a retired Nurse Joy who lived close by to help me with raising them.
