Chapter 41 - Pregnancy Controversies

The war that was about falling upon the Ptolemaic Kingdom have eventually come to it send and the traitor has been finally revealed. The peace of the kingdom, together with the rest of the kingdoms that surrounds that Ptolemaic Kingdom have finally restored and everyone is back to his normal daily activities like something has never happened. Emissary Boateng was made to receive his punishment before the whole kingdom on the next market day at the market square. His punishment will serve as a lesson to all the dwellers both in and out of the kingdom, so as to serve as a lesson to anyone who tries to betray the kingdom and get the whole kingdom into chaos. This is to be observed both by the dwellers and the bypasses' who are at the market square for their exchange of goods and services.

The kingdom has long been practicing the killing of traitors who have tempered with the sovereignty of the kingdom, and regardless of your relationship to the throne, the act of a traitor is something which is never condoned even by the gods. Every traitor is believed to have attained the wrath and anger of the gods, and who ever angers the gods must have himself to be blamed as the gods does not spare or condone their act of betrayal to the throne.

The Alaafin was consulted, and he is to preside over the punishment to be given to Emissary Boateng and his family. Emissary Boateng is brought forth before everyone at the market square and made to stand in front of the Alaafin, while the king sits in his majestic throne facing the direction of the Alaafin and Emissary Boateng. The normal rituals are being done and the king also takes part in the ritual before any final proceedings is made for the execution of the traitor. The King takes part in the rituals to signify his approval of the judgement passed and after the rituals are done, it is impossible to revoke the punishment imposed upon the person who is t be punished, and whatever the punishment might be, he will face it till the very end.

People from far and near gathered around to witness this history, as it has been long something of this kind has happened, witnessing the execution of a dweller of the kingdom.

When everything was set and done, the emissary was asked to say his last words he might be having, being it to his family or to the kingdom as a whole, as his family as watch by as his punishment is given accordingly. Meanwhile is family is also bound to have their share of the punishment, which will be a banishment from the kingdom. As innocent as they might be, they will have to suffer the injustice brought upon them by their own breeder. They will be requested never to return to the kingdom after the emissary is executed before the eyes of everyone. And not only are they not to leave the kingdom and never to come back, but the generation that will be from the root of emissary Boateng are never to set foot on the land. This might sound injustice, but it is what custom and tradition have pronounced upon its people, and whoever defiles that judgement is sure to incur the wrath of the gods upon themselves.

After Emissary Boateng was made to say is final words, he sounded never regretful of his actions even in the presence of is family. He has grown a stone heart and despite knowing the results of his action, he refuses to apologise to the kingdom and the throne for his abysmal behaviour, maybe his family could have been pardoned, but refuses to dwell in the rage of anger he carried since is birth. He started to state all that the grandfather of the ruling king has done to his mother and the kind of heartless treatment she received despite throwing away her dignity in becoming the mistress of the king. he still believes he has the right to the throne and not Masinissa Linette Duah II, yet the people did not take his words and start to chant for his punishment to be proceeded. As all these being said, the final words were said by the Alaafin as he, Emissary Boateng, had his last breath and the executioner proceeded with his duty of executing him.

After the execution of the emissary, the final words were given by the king and he told his people that, who ever does not want to face such disgrace should desist from any act that will gamble with the throne, because it might be the end to the family's lineage. The wife of Emissary Boateng were then escorted out of the kingdom through the thick forest. The body of the emissary was then sent to the evil forest to be presented as a token to the gods. Is body will be left there to decay or probably be devoured by other wild animals living in the thick forests.

As this was all done, the villagers were made to go back on their activities, as the market day is yet to be over. The king then heads back to his palace in other to find a new and trusted person to serve as his new royal Emissary. This selection is now made by the king himself since he might already be having someone in mind that he thinks will serve him with due obedience.

The sun is beginning to take its rest as it dawns down on the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Everyone who came from far and nearby kingdoms are beginning to head back to their respective towns and villages while the people of the Ptolemaic Kingdom are also heading back to their respective homes. As the sun finally took its rest, dinner have been served and the king and is family are all gathered around the table for the meal. Akinidad have taken is seat while the princess also takes hers right next t her cousin. They all enjoyed their meal as they chitchat on the situation that has befallen the kingdom, and how relieved they are when everything was over. The king continued to rain praises upon Akinidad for his brave moves during the chaos and also praised Hakeemi for his patriotism to the land. Regardless of all these, Hakeemi is still not the approved candidate for his loving princess and is still hopeful that she will eventually take over the heart of her cousin and be the queen of the land when the time is due.

During their dinner at the table, the king has observed the vast changes that the princess has gone through. He is surprised upon his observation since he did not have that much time to have focused on is daughter ever since outbreak of the war. The war must have taken much of his time since he could not have the time. He then decides to confine in his wife, the queen, to see if she has been observing the princess when he was busy attending to the affairs of the land. The queen pretends not to know what the king is taking about, and he tried to make it understanding to her.

King: My wife, have you not observed any changes in your daughter, the princess? (He asked in curiosity)

Queen: My king, what are you talking about. What king of observations are you talking about? (She rhetorically asked back)

King: Did you not observe any changes in her attitude and physical appearance?

Queen: I still do not know what you are talking about. If you have nothing else to say I will have my rest now. It has been a long day already. (She says as she turns to face the other side of the room away from the king)

Now the king is started to get a bit angered with the way the queen is answering to his questions. He could not believe that in circumstances like this the queen is still trying to pretend not to care about his concerns.

King: Hey woman, you do not dare talk to me in such disrespectful manner. I am here trying to talk to you about our princess and you disrespect me this way? (The king says with lot of anger)

As the king has realized the king is getting infuriated about the issue, she then turns back to face him while she takes her seat leaning on the wall behind her.

Queen: My king, I am sorry for talking to you in such manner. I did not mean to disrespect you in any ways, but I just feel its too late for us to be talking about this now. Can't we just talk about it in the morning? (She asks calmly)

King: No, I want us to talk about it now. This is about our daughter, the only princess of the land for that matter. I cannot seat as king and to pretend not to know of what is going on with our daughter. She is the only child the gods have blessed us with, and it is upon us, not just me, to ensure she is well brought up and be the queen we all want her to be when the time is due.

Queen: I understand you, your highness, but still, I feel it's too late now. Talking about it in the morning I think will be the best thing to do.

The king kept insisting they sit to talk about it while the queen keeps dragging him of the time and that should be spoken about in the morning. The queen finally agreed knowing that she stood no chance of winning the argument over the king, and talking about it now would be the best moment.
