Chapter 44 - The Truth is Out

The queen could sense some pretence both from the voice and from the look of the princess. She continued to question her daughter for the reason why she has chosen to disrespect her father and disgrace them before their maids. At this point, the princess has begun looking more suspicious as she begins sweating profusely. Hakeemi is still standing behind the window of the princess's chamber expecting her to show up. His patience starts to drain as he begins knocking at the window continuously. He did until the queen cut short her conversation with her daughter to go check things out herself. Lucky for him, the princess intentionally screamed the title of her mother and that sparked the awareness that the queen is in the chamber and is with her daughter. As soon as he heard that noise from the princess, he took to his heels and hide in an unsuspected spot from the site of the queen.

The queen now turns to her daughter and asked of why she would have to scream that loud, yet they are standing right next to each other. She proceeded with the reason why she was in her chamber and dragged her daughter together with her back to the chamber of the king. The king is also angered by the gesture of his daughter towards his orders and asked her of the reason she decided not to listen to the orders from him. She bowed her head down in sort of shame and apologized to her father. The king then ordered her to take her seat opposite to where he is seated so they can have their conversation.

The king started by pondering on the previous conversation they had before they intended coupe took his attention. He gestured to her the time he confronted her in regard to the changes that has been occurring to her both physically and emotionally, and also the unusual stuffs she used not to do but does then now. As soon as he started the conversation her, the princess's mood changed at the spot and began to sound rude and disrespectful to her father in the presence of the queen, her mother. she was so rude that the king had to take a bold step that he had never done to punish her for the impunity act of disrespect she is showing before the ruler of a great kingdom as theirs.

Princess Nala: (Shouts at the king) Why do you keep asking me these questions? I already told you I am not…

King: How dare you raise your voice at me? Do you not know who is standing before you, young lady? (He cut her short by showing his disappointment)

Queen: (Turns to her daughter) How dare you raise your voice at your father. Do you no longer have ant iota of respect again for the king?

The princess tried speaking back at the queen when she suddenly landed her a slap to her cheek which she has never had nor expected to have from her father or her mother.

Queen: How dare you talk back at me while am talking. (She says angrily)

Queen: (Turns to the king) Your highness, please pardon her callous behaviour. I assure you I will discipline her as expected. But I would like to plead on her behalf for you to please calm down so we can get to the root of the matter at hand. We cannot allow our emotions get in the way, my king.

As the queen said this to the king, he seemed to have calm down a little bit and proceeded to address his daughter.

King: Let's wear our minds over our tempers. Between father and child, tempers should not be let loose. For when that happens its like pulling the hair on one's skin; it's you who feels the pain.

The kinds said this words to his daughter thinking it would help the situation for their conversation, but the princess turned out to sound ruder and more disrespectful towards her father, the king.

Princess Nala: I do not think you disturbed my peace to get me out of my chamber just to talk to me about the rising and falling of tempers…

King: (Jovially) No… I did not get you out of your chamber for that. Take your seat and hear me out before jumping into any conclusions. I am coming to the main subject presently. (He pauses) My daughter, rumours have it that, the piece of fertile land I have willed out to you in the valleys of those hills on the boarder with Ayaase, has been cultivated by someone unknown and the crops are almost ready for harvesting.

The king said this to help ease up the tension that has escalated between them from the beginning of the conversation, so that the princess can calm down her nerves and allow them to state the matter at hand.

Princess Nala: What are you saying, father…that my piece of land has been cultivated by an unknown person in this land? Whoever did that must be sought and made to face the full rigours of the law. What right has the one to cultivate a protected stool land? (She replied ignorantly)

King: Without permission.

Princess Nala: Yes, father, without permission. That is the most annoying part of it all. Father, why don't you bring the law breaker to book? He must be made to pay the full price to his actions. (Starts to sob) Please father, send the soldiers to bring him before you. Nobody goes for free for taking from the royal blood.

King: Wipe your tears, my daughter. I have already done all that and the person will surely face the wrath to for his actions. But the soldiers could not find the culprit. My soldiers rather think you are the right person to identify this culprit so he can be brought to book.

Princess Nala: (Flaring up) Me?... that is total nonsense. What sort of soldiers are they? How do I know the culprit when you are even the one bursting this news of a stolen land or crops to me. If I knew the offender, father, I would be the first to come to you with his name, I swear to that.

As the princess speaks, the king looks at her with amusement and smiling as though it was a comedy show that he is watching. The queen also sits back as she looks at the princess having no clue of what is about befalling her.

The king knew that if he is to use the old way, he first had the conversation with his daughter, and she might still hold on to the lies that she isn't pregnant. Things are beginning to get so obvious at this moment and there isn't enough time to waste on the issue.

The king tries to continue in this manner as he is determined to get to the root of the matter regardless. The queen, who is seated on the left side of the king is beginning to get more worried she feels that the princess is beginning to confess on her pregnancy status.

King: (To no one in particular) What I don't seem to understand is how a woman's piece of land which has been entrusted to her could be cultivated without knowing the farmer. It does not add up to anything.

Princess Nala: Father, I have not ceded the land to anybody. I swear by…

King: No…no…no…my daughter, do not sear yet. Remember there are consequences to every action and even swearing. Do not swear to get to the bad side of the gods. Just give me your hands and spread them to me.

The king held out her hands she stretches them towards him to see for himself what he is obsessed to see. He then continues with his conversations.

King: Look me straight in the face. (Princess Nala obeys) Well, I do not blame you for not understanding the metaphorical language I tried using in our conversation. All this talk about land cultivation and crop harvesting is simply that you are pregnant. Don't look down. Look me in the eyes and deny it. Deny it my daughter, say it is not true.

Princess Nala: So, you trapped me.

The king has finally cracked the puzzle and has gotten to the bottom of the matter. The queen is left speechless, and she was confused about the whole matter and tears start to fill her eyes. This was really a shocking thing to hear. What will be of the king and what will be of the throne as well. And what if they are not able to find out who got her into the family way. This is already being a disgrace for the throne and the king.

The king is beginning to get angry over the issue while the princess bows down her head in shame, yet she tries to smart play the king and continues to be rude towards her father.
