King: So, is it true then that you are what the rumours say you are? (Princess Nala tried to walk away since she is now trapped and have no place to hide)
As she begins walking away, the king has started getting angrier and more irritated of her behaviour. He shouted at her not to go yet and that he is not yet done questioning her about who is responsible for the pregnancy and how it all happened.
King: (Continues with is confrontation) Do not go yet. One more question, who is the man responsible for the pregnancy? (The princess begins staring the king in a disrespectful manner) You better stop starring at me that way and answer my question.
Princess Nala: (Starts to boil with rage) If you were not my father I would have spat into your face or huried this stool at you. (Pointing at the stool next to her)
The king grew more angrier as the princess is getting more disrespectful despite being the one at fault. He grew so angry that he almost slapped her when the queen interceded and stop him from hitting her. She would have been executed by the orders of the king if she was not from the royal bloodline, but the queen tries to calm him as the princess continues to be more disrespectful towards her father.
King: (Angrily to his daughter) Dare do any such stupid thing and I shall have you tortured for the rest of your miserable life. What nonsense. Whoever went looking for a walking stick and picked one that grew taller than himself, what do you think he stands to get? Do you think the palm wine can ever be taller that the calabash in which it is? Foolish! Withdraw that statement at once! Withdraw the statement before I call the guards unto you.
The king gets more and more furious as he does not know why the princess will be this disrespectful towards him, despite his only trying to know what is wrong with her and how he could help her before it gets known to the whole kingdom.
The princess has finally acknowledged her mistake and just realized she is only standing there alive because her father is the king, but as she watches the king rages in anger, she had no other option than to withdraw what she said and apologize to him, as he could really get her head separated from the remains of her body with just one word to the guards and the executioner.
Princess Nala: (Quickly) I withdraw, father. I withdraw.
King: (Angrily) Now, you are going to tell me who made you pregnant and do not keep me waiting. I demand you answer that at once.
The princess stays mute and shivering as she has never seen her father this angry before but is finally realizing that she is the reason for her father's anger.
The king continues to shout at her as she irritates him more even with her silence.
King: Won't you speak? You know the penalty that awaits a person of royal blood who get pregnant before she is properly married to. It is an abomination, and I would not hesitate to get you punished as tradition demands regardless of you being my daughter you have just show me how spoilt and rude you are and have no respect even for your father. So, tell me who the man is before I bounce on you myself.
The princess still keeps mute as she stands there with tears falling down her cheeks, not knowing what to you at the instance that even her father feels no pity for her situation. She wonders on what to say even though the king warned her to stay away from Hakeemi, as he has had is mind on her winning the heart of her cousin, Akinidad, so she could be his queen when he finally assumes the throne. The king then grabs her by the arm and shakes her continuously, asking her to talk and reveal the man behind her situation.
As the king thought maybe she has learnt her lessons and will be more polite and gentle in her speech, she gets on is nerves again with some rude remarks from her mouth.
Princess Nala: Will you take your hands off me? (She says rudely staring at the king) I am going to tell you nothing. You can do your worse. (She dashes out as he says that to her father)
At this moment, the queen knew what the king can do for the disrespect being shown to him by his own daughter, and she immediately bows to his feet and begins to ask the king to forgive her as she sobs. The king could not believe that the princess, his own daughter, could be this disrespectful towards him, and that has kept him wondering of where he actually went wrong by raising her into the woman he has always wanted her to be. The queen sobs so hard that the maids in the palace are beginning to hear her cry, yet the king seems to pay no attention to her ordeal and continues to wonder.
The queen rose and turns to the direction of the princess. She starts to scream at her to return back to the chamber of the father, as her father is not yet done with talking or questioning her. The queen is left disturbed with the behaviour of her child towards the king, and if this is not gotten under control and it is known by the kingdom, shame will be the ultimate rewards for the king, as he is not able to keep his child in check.
The king takes his seat while he sends the guards to go get Amari and Zibo. He wanted to thank them for drawing his attention to the princess as he knew nothing of what was happening. If not for the, the princess would have been silent until it is noticed among all in the kingdom.
The king is left in the state of devastation as he does not know what to think or what to do. The princess hurried back to her chamber as she locked herself and sobs bitterly. The days of her glorious moment have come to an end. She is now confused if she should tell the king that Hakeemi is the man responsible for her pregnancy or probably lie about it. Akinidad is yet to be told about the incident with his cousin and even so, he will have nothing to worry about since he knows that he has nothing to do with it, neither is he able to get anyone pregnant.
Amari and Zibo finally get to the king's chamber and paid their obedience upon their arrival. The king then thanks then said to them that they were finally right their observations, and he has finally confirmed the truth from his daughter.
Voice: Your Highness! (Enters) My king, here I am
King: Ask those two women standing outside to come in. (Exits Okyeame Kwame) I don't believe it. How is it possible? A person of Royal blood getting pregnant out of wedlock? What will I say to my people? How do I look in the eyes of my people? What will our ancestors say to this? (Enters Okyeame Kwame with Amari and Zibo)
Okyeame Kwame: Your Highness, I have brought the women.
King: (With a sad look on his face) Women!... (Had a long pause before proceeding with his talk) Your observations about your mistress have been proved right. (The two women have a sigh of relief on their faces for the fear of being punished if their allegations were to be false) The princess is indeed, as you have said, pregnant. However, she wouldn't disclose the man responsible to us. Well, you can leave that aspect to me. I shall handle it my own way. But be sure of saying anything of it to any other person. Do I make myself clear.
After the king has said what he had for the women, he then turned to his Okyeame and told him to thank the women for coming straight to report the situation and their observations to him. Such are the people who would not stay to see the kingdom fall apart. He then assures his peaceful wish to them and that they shall be rewarded abundantly. He then requested they take their leave.
The Okyeame turned to their women and said all that the king has said to them and that their heads belong to their shoulders. The women thanked the Okyeame and the king and exited the king's chamber. The king then requested that he needed to be alone and everyone should leave the chamber.
After everyone has left the king all by himself in is chamber, he continued to ponder over what has inspired in his presence and to what extent would he be able to take it all.
