Chapter 43 - The Call

It is dawn and the rooster has done its job of waking the king and his family in the palace, but the king has already awakened long before his usual time. The queen was worried to wake up without her husband by her side and this only indicated one thing, it is either he was awakened to attend to nature's call or something troubling must have waken him up, and this time around it is definitely something troubling him that has woken him even before the rooster could possibly do its job to wake him up.

The king is found sitting on a large charm seated at the left corner of the parlour. He seems really worried and disconnected from the real world and has been contemplating over a whole lot of issue, with the most pressing one being the situation of the princess. All he has ever wanted was the best life for her so she can be queen and rule over the people together with her husband. It becomes overwhelming to realize that everything he has been running away from or everting that he has been scared off is almost catching up on him, and yet seems to have a no way out. What will this bring to his legacy as the ruler of the Ptolemaic kingdom after his mother has entrusted everything into his hands, yet he has a sister who was older than him and could have maybe done better than him. What would it be to his name when he had to fight his own sister, who almost took the life of someone who tried challenging her in regards to who was the rightful heir to the throne, and custom being custom, it was given to him instead since it states that a man is suppose to be the ruler while his woman, I mean his wife, rides along with him as his queen. What will be of him when during his tenure as king he has to fight against an attempted coupe in other to maintain his reign, yet is daughter is carrying a child in her womb out of wedlock. Even if its not true that she is carrying a child, the possibilities are very high and when the dwellers of the land get to know of that, then certainly he will be on the bad side of history of the kingdom.

As the queen noticed how silent the king was, and sitting all by himself not knowing what he is thinking, she came forth to him and asked what the problem was and for him to share it with her so they can both find a solution to it. The king raised his head and stared at her as she asks him these questions.

Queen: Your highness, what could be bothering at this early hour of the day? (She asks)

King: My dear, you do know of what is disturbing me. You do not talk as if you have no idea of what has been bothering for the past few days.

Queen: Is it the issue with our daughter. I told you we should first get the trust of our people back and then we can both confront her and seek the truth of the matter together.

King: For how long are we to wait? Her conditions are getting worse by the day and must we wat till the whole kingdom gets to know about it before we step in to take actions. What are you saying woman. (He said with a bit of frustration)

Queen: I did not mean to upset you this early hour of the day, but I am only suggesting we take it easy on her and on ourselves too, before we allow our emotions get us falling into a ditch, your highness.

King: I just cannot sit folding my arms like everything is okay. I had to send for my sister's son to come and be trained in the ways of a king, so that he can take over me when I finally return to our ancestors. The gods have not blessed us with an heir to the throne, and thus the reason I wanted our daughter to be by his side when the time comes, so they can rule over the kingdom together as husband and wife, but what is going to happen if these does not happen? Will you be settled in your conscience? (He asks his queen).

The queen begins to side with the logic spoken by the king and then advised the king to call upon their daughter in other to confront her again. The king agreed and told the queen to call upon any maid in the palace to goo fetch their daughter at ones. The queen listened to her husband and gave the orders to one of the maids to go fetch their daughter.

The princess was far awake and has been wandering around in her chamber, getting disturbed by almost everything around her, and hoping her so-called boyfriend will show up. The maid who was sent to fetch the princess knocked at her door and she was frightened by the noise from the door. The princess shouted almost on top of her lungs, in a tone to send away the maid and not to disturb her morning. The maid then shouted in response to what the princess has said to her, that it is the king, her father, who has sent her to come fetch his daughter to his chamber. She insisted on not listening to the maid and still kept trying to send her away. As the maid insisted on waiting till she comes out, she opened the door and was all red headed, like a charged rhino ready to take on any threat on his path.

Princess Nala: Did I not tell you to go away and leave me alone, or you want me to pounce on you this early and trust you, it would not be a pleasant experience for you. (She threatened the maid)

Maid: Am sorry my princess, I had no intentions of getting on your nerves tis early morning, but it is your mother the queen, who has sent me to come fetch for you because your presence is needed before the king.

Princess Nala: GO back to my mother and tell her I am still sleeping when you came, and do not dare lie to her that I said that.

Maid: But my princess, the queen has emphatically stated I do not come back to her without you…

Princess Nala: (Quickly interrupted) Need I repeat myself on what I said earlier? (Continues to threaten the maid) If I were you, I would be on my heels running back to my parent's chamber to report to them exactly what I had said to you.

The maid seems to see that the princess was not listening to her, so she took her leave back to the queen to tell her all that the princess has said, and the queen starts to get angered by the attitude of the princess. She has realized the princess has grown disrespectful and decides t go fetch her all herself.

Amari and Zibo are off duty today as the princess was the one who sent them home as their off days even though it was not. She planned on meeting with Hakeemi and thought they might be an obstacle to her not being able to meet with him, and the wisest thing to do was send them home for some couple of days, and she will get to do exactly what she plans on doing.

By this time, she knew Hakeemi would be lurking around the palace and all she had to do is drive away the maid so she could go wait for him. She did not want him to come knocking at her window in the presence the maid, since it will spark some talks in the palace, and she has successfully gotten rid of the maid, and has gone to see if her boyfriend has finally showed up.

It has not been long after the maid had left her presence, she begins to hear a knock at her window and then thought to herself,

-He is finally here.

She rushed to the window to see him, and it was really him, but to her surprise, as she was about sneaking out of her chamber to go meet him at the spot he is standing, she was met with the presence of her mother, the queen. The queen was really angered, and it could be told by the first sightseeing of her. The princess was startled and did not know what to say.

Queen: Where do you think you are going, young lady? (The queen says angrily)

Princess Nala: (Starts to stammer) I was just trying to use the rest room. (She replied as she continues to stammer)

Queen: Did I not send for your presence before your father, the king?

Princess Nala: Yes, you did mother. I was…

Queen: (Interrupts) And why did you decide to disrespect me and your father.
