Chapter 21 - Meeting at The Palace

The news brought to the palace by Temi is beginning to create some level of tension in the Kingdom. It will not be right for a King to be on the throne while another Kingdom comes to take their Kingdom. That will simply mean that its dwellers are going to be enslave if such coupes successfully take place. The King, Masinissa Linette Duah II, has urgently called for a meeting. He made sure he invited all the sub-Kings and Queen, as well as all chiefs, to the urgent meeting in other to have broad discussion on the news brought to them by Temi and will have to do their necessary investigations and ensuring if it's true or not.

The Ptolemaic Kingdom have been known for its peace, tranquillity and progress in all fields. Its dwellers have never known conflict or war, or anything that stands to jeopardise with their peaceful coexistence they have been enjoying since time in memorial, neither have they ever had any conflict with their neighbouring Kingdoms.

King: Emissary Boateng, are you sure the invitation for the meeting has reached all towns and villages in the Kingdom?

Emissary Boateng: Yes, my King. As a matter of urgency, it was delivered earlier than I expected.

King: Alright Emissary Boateng. Make sure they will all be present at the designated today. This is really a case of emergency.

Emissary Boateng: Yes, my King. For that I will ensure.

It is almost noon and the Kings, Queens and Chiefs in the Kingdom have started arriving at the palace of the great King Masinissa Linette Duah II, since it's the grand palace of the Kingdom, for their urgent meeting.

The King, Masinissa Linette Duah II is arriving at the palace. All kings and queen, including the chiefs, have to pay their obedience to him by standing up to their feet while he takes his seat before them all.

Emissary Boateng: The King has taken his seat. You may all have your seats.

King: Emissary Boateng, can you let it reach my noble kings and queens, as well as my chiefs that this meeting carries a sense of urgency because something that has never befallen the Kingdom is about to befall us, and we cannot seat and watch it happen right under our watch.

Emissary Boateng: My respected Kings, you all heard what the kings said. This meeting, unlike other annual meetings came in as a surprise due to the sense of urgency it carries. This kingdom has never known any uprise or unrest since the times of our forefathers. This has always been the pride and hallmark of our Kingdom, but a recent news contains that something is about befalling us and that is the reason for this urgent invite from the King.

King: Emissary, let it reach to them all that the welfare of our people is paramount than even the throne itself. And without the people, there would be no Kingdom to preside over.

Emissary Boateng: (To the other sub kings and queen) As well labelled by the king, the welfare of our people comes first before our own seats. For the existence of the people, we get to be enstooled to preside over them.

King: We all know, as King, Queens and Chiefs, that if we slack for others to take over and preside over our people, they will be nothing but slaves to them. And we will not allow that happen, as long as I am King.

Emissary Boateng: The King has been clear in his words. We cannot seat back and see the peace of our people dragged to the mud. As long his reign lives, the protection of our people will forever be paramount.

1st Sun-King: May your reign live long, my King. You have spoken wisely. The peace of our people will forever be paramount just as it has always been. But my question is, have the necessary investigations been conducted to be sure of the situation? (He asks)

King: That is the reason for our meeting, to set up a strong delegate to undertake the necessary investigations.

1st Sun-King: And also, how trustworthy is the man that came with the information. Are we sure he isn't just trying to get the Kingdom in panic?

King: He has been a dweller in this Kingdom and most he is known to be a man of truth and good character. I made my necessary investigations into his life and family and does not seem to be someone who will jeopardise with peace of our people.

3rd Sub-King: My King, I do not intent to question your decisions, but don't we think it is soon for meetings like this while proper checks are not made in regard to the person that broke this news to you. I think proper checks needs to be made about him before undertaking any steps that might worsen our situation.

King: Emissary Boateng, let it reach all kings and queens, including our chiefs, that this meeting wouldn't have been called for if proper checks were not made. And the main reason for this urgent meeting isn't for questioning but for urgent solution to the matter at hand.

Emissary Boateng: The King is wise and noble. The reason for this urgent meeting is finding solutions to the matter at hand and not for questioning. Says the King.

As discussions is in progress, enters Amanirenas, the ruling Queen of Azurethra and the elder sister to the great King of the Ptolemaic Kingdom.

King: (In surprise) Welcome sister. I was not expecting you.

Amanirenas: Of course, my King. This is a matter of urgency, and it involves all towns and villagers under the Kingdom. I want to use this opportunity to apologise to my fellow chiefs for coming later.

King: That is fine. What matters the most is you being here and contributing to the matter at hand. If you don't mind, we would like to proceed with the meeting.

Amanirenas: Of course, my King. Let me not be a disruption to the meeting. We can proceed.

The kings and his people had a long discussion about the matter, and everyone contributed their quota. It has been settled on organizing an interim committee of delegates to have a thorough investigation, to ensure nothing comes to distract the peace they have been enjoying all these years.

King: Emissary Boateng, let it reach my kingsmen, now that we have come to the end of our discussions, I would want us to go on with the necessary steps in making sure our investigations are right and accurate, so we wouldn't risk the peace of our people.

Emissary Boateng: Yes, my King. We have come to a successful meeting and all necessary steps are to be taken as soon as possible. our Kingdom is one of the biggest and greatest in this part of our world, and that legacy will be protected at all cost.

King: The meeting is suspended for now. You may all leave to your respected palaces and try to be on guard in case anything is to happen.

The king has dismissed and suspended their meeting till all investigations are conducted with accuracy.

It is getting dark and Akinidad has been in the forest since morning, as his training in ascending the throne when the time is due continue. He has no clue that his mother, Amanirenas, is currently at the palace with her brother the King. He has been focusing and working harder by the day in making sure he does his best in making his uncle proud and also fulfil the ambitions of his mother.

As he progresses with his studies, there runs in a guard, who has been sent by the King to summon Akinidad at the palace, to see his mother.

Guard: (As soon as he got to them) My Prince, the King request your audience at the palace this minute.

Akinidad: Just out of the blues? What might be the reason for that? Do you have any idea?

Guard: I do not know if I am in the right position to say that to you. He just sent me bring you to the palace right this minute, my prince.

Akinidad: Alright. let's get going then.

Akinidad, together with his trainer and the guard, took their heels for the palace so as not to keep the King waiting. On their arrival to the palace, Akinidad recognize the maids of his mother, and was surprised of their presence at the palace. As soon as he got closer to the chamber of the King, he heard the voice of his mother and was overtaken by excitement. He quickly run into his mother's arms and hugged her so tightly with his sweaty self.

Amanirenas: Take it easy my child. (She says with so much excitement)

Akinidad: I really missed you mother. I was not expecting to see you this early right after my visit to Azurethra.

Amanirenas: At least I am here. I had a quick call from your uncle and had to come since its a matter of urgency.

Akinidad: A matter of urgency? What might it be. I hope it has nothing to do with the princess.

King: My prince, you need not to worry about it. All that matters in your studies. Jut try catching up with you mother and I will see you later.

The King excuses his sister and her son to have some moment together.
