Chapter 15 - Chose Someone Better

"Okay! I will help you do that right away." His friend assured him, and then he placed his head right on the steering of his car. He hated it when someone introduced his mother to any kind of conversation. He hated it so badly, and he realised he had reacted out of anger. He was worried about how much she must have stayed right in the rain, but he didn't bother to do anything. After a few hours of waiting in the rain right inside his car, he got a message from his friend. It was a video of what had happened. "You really did badly this time around. You shouldn't have left her in the rain, despite your hatred." His friend complained while he just kicked his lips. He clicked on the video and then started watching it when he left her in the rain. He noticed that she had spent two hours in the rain. He watched as she stood up in joy when she saw a car coming, and she kept on waving her hand for help. He saw how disappointed she was after the car pulled up right in front of her. "Was she expecting me?" He questioned himself. He realised that she had entered a car, but the plate number was not clear since it was raining so hard. He didn't know if that would make him happy or not. He wasn't sure if the person who helped her had noble intentions or not. "I should have calmed my nerves down! I should have come back earlier to help her." He struck his hand right on the car's steering wheel. He tried her number again, but someone else picked her up. "Are you okay? I saw that someone had picked you up! Send me your address; I'm coming to pick you up." He said it over the phone, unaware that someone else had picked it up. "You should not have left her in the rain if you cared," she said. "She is really sick right now, and I am going to send you the address once she allows me to." He heard a male's voice right there. "Please just make sure she is really safe. Thank you very much for helping her." He ended the call without saying anything more. He believed that his voice sounded like Mike's, his younger brother. Mike stared at Claire when she was sleeping right on his bed in the visitor's room. He made sure to do everything to warm her up, since she was fast asleep already. "You should have gone for someone who would be able to treat you right." Mike left his phone in the drawer that was right beside her bed and walked out of the room. He had already fought over who Claire was. It was his brother's new wife. He heard a lot about her in the media. He didn't get to realise that song. He saw his brother's number saved right on his phone. He pitied her and wanted to speak badly to his brother when he first called, but he held back his anger. The next morning, Claire woke up with her head banging so loudly. She realised she was in an unfamiliar room and tried to remember what had happened last night. "Oh my goodness!" She felt how numb she was all over her body. She managed to stand up when she leapt since she had sprained her ankle. There was a mirror that was right at her side, and she looked into the mirror. She saw how red her eyes were. "Thank you very much for saving me." She muttered under her breath while she walked out of her room. She was able to walk down the stairs and see a human figure sitting right at the dining table.  "Good morning." She greeted him in order to get his attention. "Hey! How are you doing?" Mike, seeing that she was awake, stood up and walked to where she was. "I guess you must have sprained your ankle or something! I am so sorry." He started his conversation. "Oh! Thank you for helping me last night. I don't know how I am going to appreciate you one day." A huge smile appeared on her face, and then he offered his hand to assist her to where the dining table was. "What about your husband? Has he called you this morning?" While he brought the food he had cooked for her from the kitchen, he questioned her. "No! It's okay. Don't let us talk about him yet. What is your name?" Claire didn't get to know his name yet. "Oh! You can call me Mike." He introduced himself to her. Claire saw how adorable and good-looking he was. Except for her husband, it had been a long time since she had seen someone that good-looking. She noticed Mike's eyes and that her husband looked a little like he saw him. She started eating the food that he had prepared for her. "You are excellent at cooking." She complimented the food that he had made for her. "I know, right?" Mike answered her. "Your husband called last night, and I had no choice but to pick up your phone. He asked for your address, and I told him you would tell him yourself." Mike informed her with his face squinting, not knowing if she was going to be angry at him. "Oh! Thank you very much. At least you didn't make him run mad." Claire burst out into laughter. "What do you mean by running mad? If he really cared about you, he wouldn't have left you right in the rain," Mike retorted. "No! I annoyed him at first. I brought his mother into our conversation, and he got angry." She defended him. She didn't know why she was defending him. She was not the type to defend someone, especially someone like him.

"Oh! I understand where he's coming from. I would just go and tell him the address." She informed Mike. Mike was a little bit disappointed by her actions.
