Chapter 19 - A Heart Felt Letter

Moments after Noelle was done crafting the letter she was going to be sending to James and Silvia into perfection. She let out a satisfying sigh, as a lovely smile executed her love shaped lips.

She gathered her silky black hairs behind her ears. Then she slightly assumed a bending position towards the drawer, opening it up, she carefully aimed the scroll inside the drawer. Closing it back afterwards, she got up from the chair and moved towards her bed where she layed down for hours out of the exhaustion her delicate body had to go through due to changing from an human being into a mercreature and vice versa.

Noelle could sense every part of her body still feeling pretty overpowered by achiness. As though she had just indulge herself with extreme works to do, which she didn't.

Noelle stared upwards at the log made ceilings. Staying in this quiet room alone brought back quite a lot of peculiar and bad memories, but mostly bad memories from when she still use to dwell in the enormous corrals and reefs beneath the deep blue sea alone.

Perhaps one would've been quick to assume that those long years she spent alone and hopeless underneath the sea would've been quite adventurous and extremely fun for her, when actually everything was totally otherwise.

Noelle could still remember vividly when she encountered two large sharks in her first year of dwelling in the sea. Although staying at the shallow parts of the sea would've been better if she wanted to avoid contact with huge sharks, however that would've also been dangerous simply because it would mean being seen by fishermen and malicious people.

So therefore, little Noelle back then had decided to dive farther into the mysterious deep blue sea few weeks after being left alone by her nanny, she had encountered two huge sharks back then, and had been chased violently by them wanting to attack her, and sadly she was not really good at swimming at that time, she wasn't used to having tails and fins for movement, including some heavy hairs which made it completely difficult to swim underwater for a nine year old.

When she was being chased, that day she had already lost all hopes, and had assumed that particular day to be her doomsday. However, Noelle was fortunate enough to have been able to come across a small hole which fitted her perfectly although with a lot of trouble.

She hastily hid inside the hole, and unfortunately for those goddamn huge sharks they were too gigantic for the small hole, but this didn't mean that they left her alone immediately, the two sharks continued struggling to fit into the hole.

And back then little Noelle had already passed out from exhaustion. And thank goodness when she was eventually awake she could no longer percept the two huge sharks. They had already disappeared just as quick as they came.

From then onwards Noelle had decided not to venture into the shark's territory ever again. She was quite little back then to have known that where she had ventured into were owned by the sharks. And eventually when she started growing up, she began to take note of those things, and since then onwards survival had been worthy of being held on to.

Noelle sighed again, whilst thinking about all this. Now, presently being in the human land again was feeling quite unwonted, and utterly strange. But it didn't matter, as long as she got her revenge she knew she would feel all the more better. Then afterwards she would be able to plan her live properly, and look for another job and also live happily with her new family, Westley and Madam Danielle.

Noelle adjusted her body on the bed. It was still aching badly, but this didn't bother her too much, basically because she knew that by evening the aching would have stopped.

The poor mermaid continued pondering about a lot of things, until drowsiness came forth, and before she knew it she was already asleep peacefully, and harmlessly, like a mythical creature which she of course was.

Noelle slept blissfully until evening. And when it was evening she woke up, welcoming reality.

For some moments she was a bit astounded by where she was. But of course she was soon to realize that she was no longer a mermaid that dwelt beneath the colorful corrals and reefs.

Noelle sighed, facepalming herself as she shooked her head disappointedly to her own foolishness.

"Why do I keep on forgetting that I'm no longer living under the sea?!" Noelle muttered under her breaths as she slowly got up from the fluffy bed that she was once rested upon. She casted a glance towards the window.

'Oh it's dusk already!' she thought meekly. Noelle stretched her body to her satisfaction as she yawned wiltingly.

But still, Noelle couldn't feel the satisfaction she occasionally use to get from her body since the time she had decided to change into a mermaid so as to get some poisonous tears from her eyes. Something felt odd with her body, as it still ache painfully eventhough she had already taken a proper rest and slept for hours.

"Argh! Why does my body still aches so much?! Shouldn't it had disappeared by now?" Noelle whimpered.

Getting up from her bed, she tried to walk but as expected it felt painful doing so. But at least it was manageable. Noelle got out of the room against all odds, she navigated sluggishly through the passageway which led to the living room of the house.

Upon arriving at the living room, Noelle didn't percept anyone there. Not until she shifted her gaze sideways, and that was when she sighted both Madam Danielle and Westley at the dining table.

Apparently they were just about to start eating. Simply because Madam Danielle was still standing up, and was serving Westley and herself from the ravishing meals on the table, and that had already been cooked by her not too long ago.

Noelle stood there watching the both of them, who didn't seem to have been aware of her presence yet.

Then momentarily, she began walking towards the duo in the dining room. Causing both Westley and Madam Danielle to finally notice her there.

"Oh you're here. Perfect timing," Westley remarked, which Noelle didn't reply to. She simply just mutely walked towards them sluggishly as her body still felt painful.

"My dear. I came to check up on you not too long ago but you were still fast asleep, so I didn't want to disturb you and just decide to let you sleep. Perhaps you were tired. But since you're here, come join us…" Madam Danielle said, but was immediately halted seeing the way Noelle was moving towards them like a wounded lamb. Causing Madam Danielle to twitch her eyebrows as she continued staring at Noelle's body.

"My dear, are you okay? What happened to your legs? Why are you walking like that?" she threw multiple questions worriedly to Noelle, with her caring eyes still scanning the girl's legs.

Glancing down at her legs was Noelle, "Um… I'm fine. I think… I've just been feeling quite weak since the moment I woke up this evening. But nevermind, it happens to me occasionally, so you don't have to worry, it would stop aching eventually," she stated casually. Mumbling the last word, and making sure she was the only one who heard it, "Hopefully…"

"Okay then if you say so. But Noelle, don't hesitate to mention it to me, if there's anything bothering you. I'll be delighted to help you out, okay my dear?"

"Okay," Noelle replied curtly with a smile. Then she assumed a sitting position next to Madam Danielle. Causing Madam Danielle to pat her cheeks lovingly.

Westley grunted as he cleared his throats to seek some attention, "Mother. What about me uh? You seem to care only about Noelle a lot this days. I have a feeling you're starting to forget about me," the young man with the brown hairs said jealously, as he chewed his food more diligently than before.

Madam Danielle let out a soft chuckle, "Westley don't be such a baby. Noelle is younger than you, so she deserves all the love she could get. And besides you've been with me all this while, and Noelle here had been away for so long and had also gone through a lot this past few years. So it's only fair that I pamper her. But don't worry, I'll always love you both equally. And also there's enough love to go around for the both of you."

"Mother it's okay. I was just joking. I know that I'll always be your favorite anyways," Westley uttered. Glancing towards Noelle with a boastful expression.

Which led to Noelle rolling her eyes. "Silly brat!" she mumbled indistinctly. Then ignored Westley purposely.

The next moment her eyes instantly darted towards the esculent meals on the table. She immediately began to serve herself from the pot of meals from the table before her. Upon serving herself she began eating the matched potatoes and sauce on her plate joyfully.

"Madam Danielle, I want to tell you something," Noelle said, amidst a mouthful. Which made it hard for Madam Danielle to hear what she had to say, but she still did anyways.

"Noelle you talk too much. Don't choke on your food," Westley reprimanded, noticing how Noelle was struggling to speak whilst eating.

"I won't choke!" Noelle assured. Glaring at Westley and then she smiled towards Madam Danielle. "Madam Danielle, shall I continue what I wanted to say?"

"Tell me what's on your mind my dear. I'm listening," Madam Danielle instructed, placing down her fork beside the plate, as she payed her utmost attention to Noelle's pretty mermaid face.

Noticing that she had gained Madam Danielle's attention, Noelle spoke;

"Some days ago I and Westley were strolling around the town. And we found some people who were looking for employees to work for them. Am I right Westley?" Noelle asked widening her eyes at him, forcing Westley to nod in agreement.

"Of course," he stated briefly.

Hearing this, Noelle continued. "So to cut the long story short, Madam Danielle. I found a job."

Madam Danielle smiled warmly with a bit of bewilderment, "You did? What sort of job is it?"

"I found a job as a cook at a fast-food joint. It's a bit faraway from here though. And also they are willing to offer me accomodation too, so I wouldn't need to worry about wasting any transport fee or stress myself to get up early in the morning and start struggling to search for carriages, and worry about myself running late for work," Noelle elaborated.

"I didn't know you could cook," Madam Danielle mused.

Feeling tensed, besides, she couldn't cook. "Of course I can, Madam Danielle. I've learnt it over this past few years. And I can assure you that I'm really good at it."

"Oh… well that's new," Madam Danielle remarked, knowing how Noelle hated being taught how to cook when she was still a little princess back then. But Madam Danielle guessed that Noelle had been through a lot, therefore she might've learnt it forcefully alongst the way just to survive.

Getting up from her seat, Noelle walked towards Madam Danielle and stood behind her, she layed her hands upon the woman's shoulders and began to massaged it slowly.

"I'll make sure to come visit you and my silly big brother over there also anytime I get the chance, I promise."

"Noelle you're a matured lady. You've managed to survive the brutal war. I believe that you would be able to take care of yourself, just as you've done this past few years," Madam Danielle affirmed, giving Noelle her utmost support. "I'm just a bit sad that you wouldn't be able to stay here with us for long. But it's okay, and I'm glad you found a job. When will you be leaving for the job?"

"I'll be leaving in three days time," Noelle replied, feeling quite sad that she would also be departing from them so soon.

"Alright. Stay safe my dear. My blessing are always with you."

"Thank you Madam Danielle."

"You're welcome my dear. Now come on, have a seat, and eat your food before it becomes cold."

"Okay sure," Noelle agreed. Hastily moving towards her chair. She sat down back and clenched her fork, then continued eating her meal gently. With a lot of thoughts going through her head.
