"You liar!" Noelle claimed as she glared at Desmond. Noticing that the attractive orange haired man that just came out of the carriage was perhaps the boss, Noelle felt that she shouldn't bother to talk with the rest of the Guards and rather report them to their boss.
"Listen. Your men here accidentally hit my friend over there with the carriage. She got injured, causing all the eggs she was selling to break against the ground. Although I know it was an accident, but at least they still have to pay, even if it's just half the amount. And when I ask them to pay up they declined!" Noelle explained angrily, still struggling to break out of their strong grip on her arms.
"Lower your voice! How dare you talk like that to him!" Desmond reprimanded Noelle, which Axel only just disregarded with a wave, causing Desmond to keep shut.
Axel stared amusedly into Noelle's emerald eyes. He wondered who the lady was. No one had ever dared talk to him so arrogantly with this much disrespect ever before. Did the lady not know who he was? Or was she just doing this on purpose?
'Such an unprincipled and uncultured young lady!' Axel thought inwardly with so much bewilderment.
"Let go of the lady!" Axel ordered, and the two Guards obeyed, and freed Noelle. And Axel continued staring at the lady before him.
"Lady, what do you want exactly?!" Axel questioned promptly, he didn't have time to bicker with this unprincipled lady, besides he was in a hurry.
Fearing nothing, Noelle spoke, "I want your men to pay for the damages they've caused. Besides, my friend over there would have to treat her wounds. Her clothes are already covered in mud, so she would have to buy new ones and also she would need to buy new eggs to sell too."
Did this lady really not know who he was? How dare she looked at him in the eyes with no fear at all?! Indeed this lady is really something!
Ignoring all his thoughts, "Fine!" Axel concurred, and his word was firm. Turning towards Desmond, he continued, "Desmond get me a pouch of coins from the carriage."
"But you don't have to pay her a dine, Your M—"
Interrupting Desmond, "Desmond, I won't be repeating myself to you. Just do as I've said!" Axel commanded, his voice strict and domineering.
Causing Desmond to bow slightly and hand over the umbrella he was holding atop Axel's head to Amaar. He then went towards the carriage and brought back the pouch of coins as instructed. He then handed it over to Axel with a bow.
Axel took it, and a smart frown penetrated his face as he stared back forward at Noelle.
"This should be enough to pay for all the damages caused by my men! I believe we don't owe you anything anymore, so Young Lady, don't you dare cause us anymore trouble than you already have! Else, I wouldn't be kind enough to forgive you next time!" Axel stated calmly with authority, and without an angry expression on his fine face. But Noelle could tell those intense warning signs that came with those words of his.
Axel tossed the pouch of coins onto Noelle's feets, as they spilled to the muddy ground. And Noelle could see that the pouch occupied multiple large sized gold coins.
Axel instantaneously turned to leave, ignoring the unprincipled idiot before him, as he hastily made way towards his carriage.
Noelle who didn't feel pleased as to how the coins was tossed onto the floor as though she was a beggar, grunted.
"Unmannered fool!" she muttered as she stared at Axel's back view. Which the rest didn't hear but Axel's sensitive ears picked up the words, besides he wasn't human. And Noelle herself didn't know that Axel managed to hear it, as she said it quite low.
He halted his feets and so did Amaar who was holding the umbrella for him, and so did the rest, as they wondered what was going on.
Axel clenched his fists tightly. As his orange hairs began radiating thick black smokes which made Noelle quite confused as to whom this mysterious man was.
Axel turned towards Noelle trying to be as calm and collectively as he could be.
"Listen up you unprincipled mouse! The next time I ever catch sight of you anywhere close to where I am. That would be the day you cease to exist! You get me?!" He stated boldly, which left Noelle dumbfounded and frightened as she could no longer say anything else and could only stare at the man's smoking orange hairs. She didn't know Axel managed to hear her mutters.
Axel decided to ignore Noelle, and he began walking back towards the carriage and entered into it, knowing that he was already extremely late. Additionally they were under the scrutiny of the public, so he didn't want to act rash. As though today couldn't be any much worse for him, an unprincipled mouse even had to embarrass him alongst the way.
The next moment, Noelle watched dumbfoundedly as the carriage promptly move forward just like before.
She was a little confused by how extremely audacious the attractive man was. Indeed this wealthy people are really starting to corrupt the nation even more than it already has been.
'And wasn't that man hairs on fire just now?' Noelle thought astoundingly, remembering back to the smoke coming out of Axel's lava orange hairs. She had never seen anything like that. Everything felt so strange.
Casting her glance around the place. Noelle could percept that the people were giving her some awkward and amused gaze. Which she didn't quite understood, she guessed that maybe they were amused by how she managed to gain justice for the woman. This was what Noelle thought. Little did she know that it wasn't the reason.
Soon enough, the once noisy crowd dismissed themselves. And in less than minutes everyone was already minding their own business back. Everything went back to normal, sellers were selling their goods as before, and buyers were buying goods just like before also.
Noelle stared at the pouch of large size gold coins that was thrown at her feets and into the mud by that unmannered man. She exhaled, then picked it up and walked towards the woman whom had been hit by the carriage earlier.
Noelle smiled at the nervous woman, she took her hands and placed the coins on it, "You can have the coins Ma'am. Treat your wounds with it, and buy new clothes and also new eggs to sell with it."
The nervous, and injured woman bowed slightly. "Thank you, Young Lady. It's very kind of you to defend me like that. You're so fearless. May the heavens bless you greatly for this. People like you are very rare to find this days. I'm very grateful for your help," she appreciated.
Reaching out for the gold piece of coins, the woman splitted it into two. "Have this, Young Lady. It's only fair that we split it equally. It wouldn't have been mine to keep anyways if you didn't help me fight for it. So please have it, see it as a token of being grateful for what you've done for me."
The woman hastily took Noelle's hands and dropped the gold coins there. The woman then smiled.
"No, no Ma'am I can't take this from you. It's yours so keep it," Noelle refused meekly and wanted to give it back but the woman refused;
"Please keep it," she said, and Noelle had no other choice than to accept it.
"Thank you," Noelle appreciated, staring at the gold coin. Now she would be able to pay the price required for the letter to be transported to James and Silvia.
"It's me who should be thanking you and not the other way around," the woman said, with a trivial head bow. "I'll take my leave now. Young Lady, I hope to see you around."
Noelle nodded in response, and with that. They both went their separate ways.
Noelle exhaled. Clenching her shabby black staff tightly, she layed it on her shoulder and continued walking. Hopefully her legs wouldn't malfunction anytime soon.
Noelle hastily placed the gold coin which was given to her by the woman into her red purse. Making sure to keep it safely due to some unfortunate thieves.
And from distance away. Noelle could hear her name being said.
"Noelle!" someone called. Causing Noelle to look around hastily, and she saw that it was Westley. Perhaps the young man had been looking for her all round the market.
"Westley it's you?" Noelle eventually realized. Moving closer towards eachother.
"I've been looking all over for you, Noelle. For a moment I thought you had already left and went home without me…" Westley said, but soon noticed Noelle's face. He immediately placed his palm on Noelle's head to feel her temperature.
"What happened Noelle why is your face burning so red? Did something happen? Or did someone tried to take advantage of you while I was—"
Interrupting Westley, "No Westley. Nothing of that sort happened to me. Maybe my body is just reacting to the cold weather, besides it's going to snow soon," Noelle countered with a lie, knowing exactly why her cheeks were red. She moved her head away from Westley's palm.
"Okay, if you say so. Anyways, have you later delivered the letter to the mailman as you've said earlier?" Westley asked as the duo began walking amidst the hustling and bustling of the market street.
"No… I was just about to go and do that," Noelle admitted meekly, bringing out the scroll from her pocket to show Westley.
"Oh… if you haven't delivered the scroll yet then what pray tell have you been up to in the market all this while?" Westley asked. Then soon noticed that some of the people were staring at them awkwardly. Which led him to asking, "Noelle did you do something? Why are the people staring at us like that?"
"I didn't do anything. I was just strolling around the market to see if I could find things that catches my attention. I don't know why the people are staring at us like that. So would you please stop suspecting me!" Noelle defended herself, which was obviously lies. She pulled her black staff away from her shoulder and dabbed it on the muddy ground as she walked.
Westley grunted.
"Well I sure do hope what you're saying is the truth," he muttered.
"Of course it is. Would I ever lie to you brother Westley?" Noelle blinked childishly, wanting to gain Westley's trust as she stared sideways at him. Pointing her black staff sideways towards him.
"Yes you would!" Westley stated without a second thought, pushing Noelle's black staff away from his face as they both continued walking towards the mail office, so that Noelle would deliver her letter.
