Chapter 8 - [Chapter 8 - Intentions]

Tre stood facing the young woman opposite him, now looking away awkwardly upon revealing the number of people within the club.

'Only two members..? I mean, I can't say I didn't expect that, but it's still disappointing that the stigma around science is still as persistent as ever.'

She redirected her eyes toward him as a thought entered her mind.

"So uh.. what's up with your clothes? Simple black pants and shirt, that's definitely not something the professors would let pass. Is this your first day?"

Tre thought about this, not failing to notice how the clothes of the students took precedence over hired killers roaming the halls of this school.

"Yeah, it's my first day, and I've already been seen by a couple of professors wearing this already, one of them didn't really care and the other only made a passing comment. Though I guess he could tell I wasn't the son of some duke or other elite family, considering he teleported away just as fast as he came to check who was entering the school."

She was listening with intrigue until he mentioned how the professor teleported away, her face slowly morphing to that of perturbation.

"A.. professor that can teleport.. met with you while you were dressed like that?"

Tre looked at her, slightly confused by her reaction. Is that professor the head professor or something?

"Uh.. yeah. Why?"

She looked at him, now sporting a serious expression.

"Did he say his name? Was it professor Macqalaie?"

'Ah, that was his name. What's with the names of people in this school? Is it a nobility thing?'

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Why?"

She wore a confused expression for a moment.

"And he just.. let you go? For real?"

"For real. Is it that much of a shock..?"

She looked down for a moment, rubbing her chin as if deep in thought.

"No, it's not that crazy. Considering your skills, you're most likely a special student, right? What family are you from? What's your last name?"

Tre looked at her with a deapan expression, before stating;

"My name is Tre Horn, and my only family is my mother and a soldier. I'm not from some special noble family. On the contrary, I was actually born in poverty."

Strands of the young woman's floral white hair fell over her face as she looked back up at Tre. She froze for a moment as if in a daze, processing all the information he told her.

"..What? You're were born in poverty..? No wait, how are you even here? How can you fight so well? Are you a natural genius in ki?"

'She can't sense ki? Or maybe she can but she thinks this lack of ki she's sensing is because I'm way out of her league?'

"What? You can't sense my ki? You know that's child's play, right?"

Tre spoke in a mocking tone, knowing full well he can't sense a lick of ki either.

"Oh, I see now. You're a future knight, right? A monster bred just for the royal kingdom. What are you messing with the science club for? You should have ki strong enough to do anything without the need for-"

Tre cut her off before she spoke on about her theories.

"I can't sense, manipulate, or even feel ki in the slightest. I actually came here to know if the leader of this club has any interest in science or machinations themselves. I want to ask you this before continuing though; what is your standing with the leaders of this country? The King and Queen, the royalty, and all the knights that stand below them. The countless dukedoms within this country, and the nobility that lick the King's boots. What do you think about them as a whole."

She looked at him with shock, raising her eyebrows each time he spoke each word. Not being able to utilise ki in the slightest? And now asking about nobilities?

She thought for a moment, weighing the risks of what she was about to say. After some struggle with herself, she spat out;

"I despise them. Truly and utterly."

Tre gave a hearty smile at this response.

"Good. I wanted to confirm this. I'm going to need to force my ki into motion through a machine for what I wish to do. I need a large enough laboratory, and a lot of materials."

She gave a confused look before holding up her hand, her face slighty paling.

"Hold on, pause pause. Chill out. First of all, you're going to force your ki into motion through a machine? Not only would that be extremely dangerous, but that's damn near impossible. No one has even attempted that before, you really think you're going to be the one to do it? And secondly, what ARE you planning exactly? Considering what you said before.. you're not planning on assassinating the King, are you..?"

Tre dove through his memories, donning a somber look on his face for a moment, before returning to a deadpan expression.

"A machine to circulate ki and force it into motion actually has been done before. It's been made and was almost completed. I will tell you about it later, since I don't feel like talking about it in this hallway. Secondly, no, I'm not going to assassinate the King, that won't accomplish anything."

He gave a slight smile with a devious glint in his dark brown eyes.

"I'm going to completely annihilate every single one of those disgusting nobles."
