Chapter 1 - Risky mistake 1

This morning, I woke up feeling tired and nervous. I'm afraid of running into my fiancé because he's so scary. I can't believe my parents are doing this to me, selling me off just because of money. I'm Joanna Stevens, 23 years old, fair and have dark brown hair. My parents can't further my education because of financial issues. I dreamt of becoming a flight stewardess, but I guess my dream is falling apart. On my way to my friend's house this morning, I saw a black car with a lady beside it talking to the person inside. I didn't know it was my fiancé, I hate this guy so much because he's a playboy.I decided to walk past the car to find out who the guy was. Lo and behold, it was Priscoll. I was surprised. He smiled at me, and the lady he was talking to Walk away and priscoll told me to get inside the car. I refused and decided to walk away. He came out of the car and dragged me back,

''Where are you running to, huh?'' Priscoll said with a devilish glare, and I stylishly slapped Off his hand on mine

''Oh, you again... Well, what did you want from me?' I asked angrily. 'You're mine, have you forgotten? And I don't want to hear a word from you... Get in the car!'' he shouted angrily, and I gasped.

''No! don't force me and Stop stalking me around Priscoll!'' I exclaimed, my voice shaking with anger. He smirked.

''I'll tell your dad that you're treating me badly after giving him one of my companies. If you don't want us to get married, fine... I'll tell him, and we'll cancel the contract. Your family will continue to live in poverty.''I was furious, tears streaming down my face. ''This is just the beginning, Joanna... just marry me,'' he sneered, noticing my tears.

''I'm sorry, Joanna,'' Priscoll said, his voice laced with insincerity. ''Get in the car and let's go to my company. I know you'll be impressed.'

"No, thank you,'' I replied sharply, trying to hide my disdain. He let out a low, menacing hum, ''Fine... I'll tell your father everything".

He turned to leave, but I quickly grabbed his arm, my mind racing with the consequences. ''I'll go with you,'' I said, trying to sound calm, despite the turmoil brewing inside me"

As we drove to his company, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Priscoll's smile seemed to grow wider with every passing mile, and I knew I was in for a long day. When we arrived, he gave me a tour of the facilities, introducing me to his employees and boasting about his success. I pretended to be interested, all the while thinking of ways to escape this arranged marriage.

But things took a turn when we reached his office. He locked the door behind us and turned to me with a sinister grin. ''Now, Joanna, let's discuss the terms of our partnership... I mean, marriag𝐞"

"I have nothing to say about that, Priscoll," I said, trying to push him away. But he moved closer, his face inches from mine. "Why are you scared of me, Joanna? You're so beautiful, and I'll never let anyone hurt you," he whispered, his finger tracing my lips. "Can I have a taste?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with desire.

I tried to move away, but he pinned me against the wall. "Don't touch me, Priscoll... Don't try it," I warned, my voice shaking.

But he just chuckled, his lips brushing against mine. "You're still scared... Tsk, tsk... Why?" He moved closer, his breath hot on my skin, and I felt a surge of fear.

"Priscoll... The door is open..." I exclaimed, trying to distract him.

"No it is locked" he just smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.

"Please stop this, Priscoll"

"Just one kiss, Joanna... I promise I'll stop," Priscoll whispered, his lips inches from mine. I tried to push him away, but he was too strong. Just as his lips were about to touch mine, I heard a loud knock on the door.

"Priscoll, we need to talk!" a voice boomed from outside the room.

Priscoll's eyes flashed with anger, but he composed himself quickly, he opened the door, and a tall, dark-haired man walked in.

"Priscoll, we have a problem... The investors are getting cold feet," he said, his eyes flicking to me before returning to Priscoll.

Priscoll's expression turned icy.

"Deal with it, Marcus. I'm busy," he growled, his eyes never leaving mine.

But Marcus hesitated.

"Priscoll, this is serious. We can't afford to lose them."

Priscoll's gaze finally shifted to Marcus. "Fine. I'll deal with it. Leave us," he snapped, his voice dripping with venom.

Marcus nodded and backed out of the room, closing the door behind him. Priscoll's eyes locked onto mine once more, and I knew I was in grave danger.

"Where were we, Joanna?" Priscoll asked, his voice low and menacing. I tried to speak, but my voice caught in my throat. He took a step closer, his eyes gleaming with desire.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed on the desk. Priscoll's eyes flicked to it, and he sneered. "I think that's your father, Joanna. Don't answer it," he warned, his voice dripping with malice.

But I knew I had to take the chance. I grabbed the phone and answered, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Dad?"

"Joanna, where are you? I've been trying to reach you," my father's voice sounded frantic on the other end.

"I'm... I'm at Priscoll's office, Dad," I replied, trying to subtly hint at my distress.

"Joanna, get out of there now. I'm coming to get you," my father ordered, his voice firm.

But it was too late. Priscoll snatched the phone from my hand, his face twisted in anger. "She's not going anywhere, Mr. Stevens, we made a contract and I'm not changing my mind"

"When Priscoll said ''Mr. Stevens, we made a contract, and I'm not changing my mind,'' I knew I was in grave danger. My father's voice was firm on the other end of the line,

''Priscoll, you're not going to bully my daughter into marriage. She has the right to choose.''But Priscoll just laughed,

''Oh, I think she's already chosen. She's just playing hard to get.'' My heart raced as he hung up on him.

''You see, Joanna, your father and I have a deal. And you're going to honor it. You're going to marry me, and there's nothing you can do about it.''

I felt a chill run down my spine as he stepped closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "You're mine now, Joanna. And soon, everyone will know it" he kissed my nape

"Priscoll, stop this!" I urged, my voice shaking with urgency. "We can't go through with this."

Priscoll's eyes gleamed with a sinister promise. "Give in to me, Joanna, and I'll make your deepest desires come true. Just one night, that's all I'm asking."

I hesitated, my mind racing with conflicting emotions. "I need time to think... Just leave me alone for now, Priscoll."

His smile was a thin-lipped threat. "You have five hours to decide, Joanna. After that, I'll come for you."

With a swift motion, he grabbed my phone from the table and demanded my password. I reluctantly gave it to him, feeling a chill run down my spine as he dialed his number and saved it under 'Hubby'. The audacity!

"Why did you do that?" I demande, My heart raced as he slapped my phone out of my hand. He walked away, leaving me to pick it up and gaze at the broken screen. It really hurt me, but I left his office angry, remembering that I had to go to his house. Alone in my room, I thought about the hard decision I had to make because of my family.

I couldn't stop looking at the clock. My father noticed my restlessness and asked why.

"Was it because of Priscoll?" he asked, and I nodded.

"Dad, I can handle it. Forget it. He's rich. He can take care of me, and you can have the company. Don't withdraw because I've agreed to marry him. Arrange for our wedding. It's in just three days' time... I'm going to be fine," I said with tears, glancing at the clock again. One hour to go.
