Chapter 41 - lingering

Three days later....

Lisa stood in front of the courthouse, watching as Mr. Chan and Vanessa Yang were led away in handcuffs.

The culmination of months of investigations and heartache had finally led to this moment.

A wave of relief washed over her, mingled with the lingering sadness of her father's loss. She took a deep breath, allowing herself a moment of victory.

Later that afternoon, Lisa met Lian at their favorite restaurant.

The place was bustling with the usual lunchtime crowd, but they had managed to secure a cozy corner table. Lian greeted her with a warm smile and a bouquet of fresh lilies.

"Congratulations, Lisa," Lian said, handing her the flowers.

"I know this can't erase the past, but I hope it brings you some peace." He added and Lisa felt her chest warm up.

She took the flowers, her eyes glistening with gratitude.

"Thank you, Lian. It means a lot to have you here with me." She smiled.
