"The car accident, all of it was his doing and once I knew about it, I couldn't stay." Theo paused and threw his head back. "You know they never got along and ambition and greed drove my father to do something crazy. He had trained me to be that way, we fought about every damn thing just like they did."
"But what has Jade got to do with all these?" Levi managed to ask.
Theo winced; this was hard for him, too. "Her parents died in the same car crash, your parents' car ran into them."
Suddenly, Levi felt weak in his knees; her parents were collateral damage to the family issues he had. He knew none of this was his fault or even Theo's, but he still felt a pang of guilt in his chest; her parents died because of his family. The realization was harsh, it was like he was hit with a bucket of ice. The coincidence of it all was funny; like life was playing a sick joke on them by making them cross paths.
"She can't know about this Theo," Levi warned.
