"I can take care of myself; I want to be alone, Theo; just leave me be," Jade said in a quiet voice.
"No gentleman can resist a damsel in distress," He said, staring at her.
Jade sighed, it was a lost battle. She knew Theo would stick to her like glue just to spite her. "You are no gentleman, Theo, that's for sure."
He didn't reply, and for a while, they just sat in the darkness, admiring the spring night sky. The weather was warm, and the breeze was refreshing like it was trying to soothe her pains. She shouldn't have left like that. After all, what Vanessa said was true; she had nothing to offer Levi.
But still, it hurt to hear it like that, like her feelings didn't matter and she was just a pawn on the chess board. This was, in fact, true, but at least pawns had roles and uses, and Jade felt utterly useless to Levi in all ramifications, coupled with the fact that he could just toss her away when he didn't need her anymore.
