Levi stared into her glassy eyes. He knew what she meant, but that was never his intention. Not back then and certainly not now knowing how much he liked her. But he didn't know how to deal with the whole situation of her losing memories of him.
"Jade, it's not what you think… I've been in over my head about things, and I didn't pay attention to you, but I care about you, Jade. I care about you so much and I wouldn't do anything to hurt you intentionally." Levi replied, his eyes searching hers.
Jade was confused; his words were comforting and sweet, not what she expected. "But our marriage isn't real, Theo told me the truth. Why didn't you tell me? I was carrying a huge weight on my shoulders, thinking our 'marriage' was breaking, and I was the cause of it."
"Fucking bastard," Levi said under his breath. "I didn't know how to tell you about it, and I wondered how you'd react, so I just let it rest," Levi replied.
