Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 - Journey

Soon everyone was back in the game already. Allan and Sheila found themselves near Sheila's starting village where they were refining monster flesh before.

"Quite a busy day today huh. We even managed to move out so fast as well. Were you tired in the real world?" Asked Allan.

"Not really, cultivating kind of put me in my best state, so even if I cooked two meals and moved out, I was very energetic." Said Sheila.

"Now let's hunt some monsters on the way, let's avoid going to further into the forest or else we might run into some powerful monsters. What do you say?"

"Sure. I have a question, why you only revealed two elements to them. I saw you eating flesh of all elements." Asked Sheila.

"It's not that I'm hiding, but I had a head start from you guys, so I managed to reach rank one on all elements before. Also here in game I'm already rank two in all elements. If it wasn't because I'm travelling I think I would've cultivated even more."

"So you didn't want to lower the morale of the others."

"Pretty much."

"Don't do that, if you do that, the others won't trust you in the future. I know you had a jumpstart on everyone else. But we can't be hiding stuff from each other. Specially now that we trusted your judgment and moved out of our homes. I am quite fragile now. I'm not used to do stuff without too much thinking."

"Sorry. It wasn't my intention. I just didn't want them to be dispirited and think they have a fighting chance to catch up to me." Allan said. "About moving out. It's the best option for all of us. The world is gonna change and people are gonna try to seize stuff by force. By staying closer one another we will have a better fighting chance."

"To be honest I'm quite worried about the time we are playing the game. Now it's safe since people aren't aware of it. But we are kind of vulnerable here since we can't feel the real world from here." Said Sheila.

"That's true. We need to prepare some countermeasures for our safety. It's not like we can ignore the game altogether. It's gonna be our source of strength, right?"

"Yeah. Let's worry about it later. We need to hunt and get stronger faster." Said Sheila.

"I've been wondering for a while but, in this world we need more information about the cultivation world. The mortals don't know much, and we can't join a sect as well. So I've been thinking if there is a place for cultivators that don't join a sect." Said Allan.

"I think that if such a place exists, it's going to be at the capital. But I'm not sure we are safe there since we don't know the cultivation of such place. I guess we're gonna have to wait for the other players to find out about it and post on the forums." Said Sheila.

"It's the safest way for sure, but also the one that will take a long time." Said Allan.

"It's not like we need to know it right away anyways. We have priorities, and that is to get stronger." Said Sheila.

"Wow, it's the second time you said that already. Do you have something in mind?"

"I'm secretly kind of competitive as well, but I don't let that show too much. But with a cheat by my side I need to capitalize on that." She said.

"I see. Let's go hunt then." Allan chuckled and both of them got a little deeper inside the forest.

They kind of journeyed for a while at the same time they killed lots of monster they found on the way. Allan gave 90% of the monster meat to Sheila while he only took around 10%. She didn't mind since she knew she was behind already. Soon the two days passed in a blink with them doing nothing but kill monsters, cultivate and journeying together.

"It's almost time. We are still quite far from the rendezvous point we agreed on." Said Sheila.

"I think we're quite ahead already, since the others might be meeting up today." Said Allan.

"I know but wasting time travelling is annoying, we should be hunting fulltime already."

"It's alright. How are your roots?"

"Wood and Water are already rank 2. The others are still rank 1. There is just too little monster meat here."

"Mine are already almost rank there." Said Allan.

"Even with only taking 10% of the meat?" She asked.

"Yeah, I had a huge head start compared with you."

"You must be cheating right? Teach me how to cheat as well."

"I indeed feel like I'm cheating. But it's because I found too many good things. This cloak can block almost all damage and this sword can cut through any monster easily. If it was a normal game I would be power leveling. But cultivating is different. Killing alone won't make us much stronger." Allan said. "Since there are only a couple hours before we log out, why don't we cultivate till the time is up?"

"Alright. It's gonna be much faster now that my spiritual roots are almost rank two." She said.

"Focus on your other elements so that you can get more stats faster." Allan suggested.

"Sure. Good Idea."

"See you outside." Allan said.

"Come eat breakfast at my house again. I like cooking for everyone." She said.

"Sure, I cannot deny if you're asking like that."

"I'll be waiting for you and Tory then." Then she sat down and began cultivating right away. Allan also did the same.
