It was difficult to sleep the night before so Wendy only got about 3 hours of sleep but she had to go to work anyway. The supposed reunion was in two days and she was starting to regret agreeing to go. She had checked the location of the restaurant in the address and it was four hours away from home. It was way too long a distance but she had already promised to show up so she had to go.
After what felt like a hundred years she was finally able to drag herself from bed but only because she heard the doorbell ring. Getting up and opening the door she saw that it was Chris. "hey" he says "morning, why are you here so early, I'll soon be leaving for work" she says "I brought this" he raises the bag in his hand "they are all from my mum, she sent excess food so I'm giving it out" he says as he enters her kitchen "oh thanks, I'll go get ready now" she tells him "yeah sure" he says as he starts to store the containers in her fridge.
About ten minutes later she comes downstairs to see no one there she's relieved because she doesn't have to spend time talking but just as she about to grab her phone he comes out of the toilet. "oh, you were here, thank God you came out cause I would've locked you in" she says to which he just chuckles, "are you leaving now?" he asks her she nods and gives a gesture that says "shall we?" they both come out from the house, he waves goodbye and goes across to his house. Wendy gets in the car and turns it on "he's acting pretty weird" she thinks but she just brushes it off her mind and leaves.
Later at noon Kate is standing by the window talking to someone on the phone, it sounds like she's having a fight and Wendy overhears it, "how many times do we have to go over this, if you're not going to listen to me then there's no point talking to you" Kate is whispering and faint sounds of curse words are being heard from the other end of the call, hanging up Kate just sighs turns off her phone then turns around to leave but sees her friend, "what was that all about" Wendy asks "nothing to worry about" Kate replies her, "are you about to have lunch, let's go together" she says in an attempt to keep her friend from asking more questions, she smiles and they leave.
While eating Kate notices that something is wrong with Wendy so she asks "are you okay you've picking at your food the whole day" "I'm fine, it's nothing" Wendy replies while in reality memories of the past that she desperately wanted to forget had been bugging her since the night before, she just couldn't stop thinking about it, she wondered after how hard she tried to cut those people out of her life how had Perry come across her personal contact information, she was too afraid to ask in case she upset the girl. Anyways she had to get it off her mind so she drops her fork "I'm leaving, I've got something to do" she says "you sure?, you didn't eat anything though" Kate asks "it's fine I wasn't hungry anyways" Wendy replies as she picks up her phone and leaves.
Standing at the window in the hallway, giving herself time to think she's so lost in thought that she doesn't hear someone walk up behind her, the person touches her shoulder so she snaps out of it and looks behind her, once she does though, she's annoyed "what do you want?" she asks as she looks at the face of the well known James "you looked like you belong in one of those uniforms" he says as he points to a patient passing by and grins at her, looking at him she just wants to slap the grin off of his face "how did he come to work in this field with his mindset" she thought, "I'm leaving if you don't have anything important to say" she says and turns around to leave but he turns her back "I do have something to say" he says "say it with your hands off me" she half yells at him "you're free this Friday right, how about you and me for dinner" he says, she puts on a sarcastic look and says "unfortunately I'm not free this Friday" "now you've taken enough of my time" she says and leaves.
Her shift is over and she's ready to go home but Kate had wanted to have a drink with her so she was waiting for her. When Kate arrives she stands up and they both leave. Once they get to the bar Kate orders first, the ride had been quite silent as both girls had a lot on their mind. While drinking Wendy starts conversation "you okay?" she asks "yeah" Kate answers then she sighs "no I'm not okay" she says "does it have to do with that phone call earlier" Wendy inquires after what seems a moment of silence Kate nods her head yes "actually it was Jake" she says, Wendy is surprised but doesn't let it show "why was he so angry" she asks and the latter replies "we've not been on good terms for a while" she says "actually the day that we caught David cheating on you we fought" "why?" Wendy asks "I don't know he says I don't love him anymore" she sighs Wendi keeps quiet for her friend to finish "but the funny thing is, I think he's right ,no, I know he's right. I just can't bring myself to end things." Wendy says nothing because she doesn't want to interfere in her decisions "Ah! I don't know what to do" Kate exclaims "just know whatever decision you make, I'll support you all the way" Wendy says to her then gives her a hug.
They drank and were both drunk, Wendy was sober enough to call a taxi for Kate. When the taxi picked Kate up Wendy started walking home as it was not far from the bar. By the time she got home she had sobered up completely, she lay on the bed ant closed her eyes, she felt sorry for her friend but also envious as she could tell her worries but Wendy's worries were about something no one knew about her. She thought about Kate and felt bad because she had hid so much from whom she had called her best friend, she thought about how disappointed Kate would be in her if she ever found out about those things with that she slept.
Getting up and thinking that the D-day was tomorrow was a bit of a burden on her. The day flew by just as normal with working and other daily activities and just like that Friday had come she had picked her outfit and set out to go at 1:00pm that day so she could be there around 6:00pm.
