Kate had been exhausted for the past few days because she was constantly working overtime, on top of all the stress her relationship was in crises again as she and Jake had fought again. It was because he had accused her of going out to sleep with men even though she had insisted she was working. Her only stress relief was talking to her friends, Wendy and Chris.
After a while of still ignoring Chris, their relationship started going back to what it had been before, they were hanging out pretty casually now but mostly with Wendy. Again after another fight with her boyfriend she finally left the house, she told him that they both needed space and that he should not contact her for some time. Packing her things that night, he wasn't even there she was raging, he didn't care when she said she'd be leavening for some time, she zones out and starts thinking of that moment, "you always accuse of stupid stuff, I don't get you, how did we turn out like this, you can't even trust me to go out on my own" she was saying " I would trust you if you weren't such a pick me" he replied, honestly that took her aback "you don't mean that right, because I've been nothing but loyal to you, how can you even say that, if anything you're the one I should be wary about" she snapped back but he just hisses and says "as if" "maybe we need a break" she says 'we shouldn't see each other for some time.
She snaps back into consciousness, then finishes packing her bag and leaves the house. She was heading to Wendy's house as that's where she'd be staying in the meantime. She gets to the house, gets in and settles down while Wendy helped her, after some time Wendy leaves for work, she, Katie, had applied for leave for the day. Since there was nothing to do she decided after watching several TV shows and movies she'd go for a walk.
Outside as she was walking, she couldn't help but think about Jake, she wondered what he'd be doing at the moment, she wondered if he even felt the impact of her leaving or had he not noticed at all. She kept thinking until suddenly the air turned very cold she had a feeling in her stomach that made her feel as if something was about to happen to her, all her senses started to heighten and she started hearing the steady, heavy footsteps directly behind her, she tried to peek to see who it was but she was too afraid and heard the footsteps quickening so she started to pick up her pace as well but the sound of the shoes on the ground seemed to get louder and closer so she started running, she must have ran at least two blocks before she felt someone's hand on her forehead. Her body tenses and she looks up at the hand, she quickly takes a step back but as soon as she recognizes the face she hugs him tightly.
Feeling confused Chris resists for a moment, " just go along with it" he hears her say so he did, he hugged her back and when she was sure there was no longer anyone coming behind she let go of him.
At work Wendy had felt that Tony was weirder than usual, he was barely talking to her for up to a minute and only found her when he needed to and switched his working hours to times that she wouldn't be around. He was straight up avoiding her, she had only guided Tony for about three months and even after that they still frequently talked to each other sometime they would even go get lunch or coffee together but lately he had been so distant.
Tony was scared to go into the locker room, he had been waiting on James to leave but he checked and his lights were still on so obviously he was waiting for Tony as well. He had been going through pictures on his phone when he heard someone scoff directly behind him he looked over only to see James, James found out a while later he had a crush on Wendy and threatened to reveal, only if he'd set James up with her would he spare him. Tony had worked so hard to make sure nobody would find out about his feelings especially Wendy but here he was begging James because he would ruin that poise in seconds. He was being careful because he didn't want to set them up but it seemed James had had enough, since he was not going soon, Tony figured he'd just leave quickly without being noticed but as soon as he stepped into the locker room he regretted ever going out of his office.
"How is James here?" he thought as his eyes met that of the angry senior, "it was impossible, I had been watching the whole time so when did he get here without me knowing?" he thought "how long are you going to put this off?, are you trying to piss me off?" James asked "I'm just waiting for the right time to introduce the topic, she doesn't exactly see you in good light you know" he said sarcastically. Tony remembered the last thing in his head was "I'm done for" right before a fist met his face, reflexes made him hold his face in pain immediately "you better get me that date by the end of this week" he heard James say before he left. Tony pulls his hand from his face and sees his nose is bleeding so he cleans up and goes home.
