A wisp of flame, a shape of the raging wind, and a beautiful calm water sphere. That was how Avian's vision demonstrated the Spiritual Rats' attribute.
Their shape, color, and nature were all different, which gave them a special color.
She closed her eyes and let out a soft breath; her mana slowly retreated from her eyes; once she opened them again, everything turned back to normal.
Bowing towards the instructors, Avian went back to one of the seats under her classmates' heated gazes. Zenith's turn was right after her; however, he was frozen in place.
'Sensor? There is no way, just no way…'
He wiped his face as if he saw a ghost—a memory he had buried deep in his heart was threatening him again. Sensor was the only thing that could expose his darkest secrets without him being able to defend himself.
'No, it shouldn't be this bad.'
He gulped, moving reluctantly toward the instructors while attempting to assure himself. 'Avian has no clue about what she needs to search for in my soul, so I'll be safe.'
With shaky hands, Zenith watched as his mana filled the orb even faster than Avian; his silver mana hit the orbs in waves, making it tremble and almost crack.
"Wow, these two…"
"Unbelievable, and they are supposed to be newbies here?"
"Are they not blood-related siblings? For the two children from the Maximilian family to be this powerful and talented, I'm jealous."
Avian and Zenith both were showing astounding talent; an immeasurable amount of potential oozed from their very existence. How come the fake heir and the true heir both were one of a kind?
Zenith did not pay the students any attention. He moved to the next machine, took a step back, and swiftly striked the target– DING! The bell on top of the target almost flew out of its place; the screen above it kept rising and rising, and then–
BOOM!
It exploded.
"Kya!!"
"What the–"
"By the Lord!"
In fear and confusion, everyone took a few steps behind and shielded their faces. Mrs. Smith was too shocked to do anything, but Mr. Smith acted in time, creating a barrier around the machine to limit the damage.
"Lord Zenith, please, I would appreciate it if you tried to suppress your strength next time."
Mr. Smith awkwardly while reprimanding him.
"Oops, I apologize~"
Whispering in a singsong tone, Zenith scratched his cheek and took the chance to step back and sit next to Avian. His slip allowed him to escape without exposing any abnormalities in front of the sensor.
"Avi, was I good~? Did you like my strength?"
Playing his innocent act while suppressing his quickening heartbeat, Zenith asked Avian cheerfully while hugging her shoulder.
"You have immense strength and precise control; I don't feel any pressure despite you holding me firmly."
"Am I impressive to you then?"
"Are you?" chuckling, Avian avoided answering him and leaned her head on his shoulder. Her soft perfume made Zenith finally relax as he realized the danger had passed and he survived it without any casualties.
After a few minutes, everyone was done with their evaluation. The green-haired young woman, Misa, approached Zenith and Avian. She bowed her head and shyly introduced herself officially.
"Greetings, Your Lordship! I'm terribly sorry for not recognizing you before."
Her gaze kept flickering to Zenith with both curiosity and wariness as she added: "And I hope I was able to guide you as I promised. I'm ready to guide you more, but you seem to have someone else in your company now."
"Ah, yes. Miss Misa, this is my brother, Zenith."
Shocked, Zenith frowned deeply and mumbled, "Brother?"
Although he had called Avian as his little brother earlier this morning, it was just for the sake of the teasing and also to prove their good relationship. He wished to help Avian in that way.
But once the word 'brother' left Avian's mouth, Zenith's stomach churned with great discomfort.
Avian missed his change of expression, but Misa caught it vividly. She let out a soft gasp, and her cheeks slightly reddened.
"Oh, oh! Nice to meet you, Lord Zenith. Would you like to accompany me and Lord Avian in our walk? The instructor said earlier that we are allowed to take an early lunch break."
The students flocked in and out of the hall, indicating that everyone had already finished their evaluation. The instructor apparently spoke earlier, but Zenith and Avian were too focused on their conversation to notice that. Either way, they agreed to Misa's suggestion and went around with her.
Unknown to them, there was a woman standing in the shadow gazing at them with a sneer. The woman's eyes were filled with disdain as she stared at Avian's back while she was being accompanied by Zenith and Misa.
"What a slut," she whispered before leaving the shadows and entering the hall gracefully.
Her brown hair was swaying behind her as she immediately wore a smile like a mask and gestured for a few girls to come to her.
"Lady Alina!"
Alina Rose.
Her red eyes stared at the girls as she asked them, "I heard there were two new students in your class; I wonder how excellent they are."
"Oh, Lord Avian and Lord Zenith?"
"Lords?"
"Yes!" the girl affirmed, "They are the young lords of the Maximilian family, and they are amazingly strong and talented!"
The girls started gushing about the two while Alina fell into deep thoughts.
'Lord? But that was clearly a woman…'
