Chereads / HIS SLAVE TO HIS QUEEN / Chapter 12 - CAROL'S SECRET

Chapter 12 - CAROL'S SECRET

I called my best friend, Emily, after seeing a thousand missed calls from her.

"Hey, what happened?" I asked.

"Oh my god, your brother is a douche! There is so much I need to tell you."

"My brother is a big douche. I also have a lot to tell you."

"Oh my god, we need to meet ASAP. I can't tell you everything on the phone."

"Hmm... about that, I would need to ask."

"Ask? Why would you—wait, don't tell me—" I cut the call before she could answer. I didn't feel the need to explain right now. My mind was already hovering by that text I got this morning. I wondered who texted me. Was it my brother since he was the cause of this? Or was it Ryan after I finally got comfortable so they texted me this? Or was it Carol just because she hates me? Nope, I don't think it was Carol. I don't think she needed to hide behind a text to threaten me like that. With that thought, I decided to talk to Carol. Since I couldn't find her around the house, I figured she was in her room. I knocked at her door, but no response. I knocked again, yet no response. I opened the door and saw Carol with a baby in her hand. I was extremely confused. Carol looked at me with wide eyes.

"Oh my god, no, please don't kick me out! I will explain!" she started begging with teary eyes. I went inside and locked the door behind me.

"Stop, Carol's breath, and explain to me from the start," I said as she applied my advice.

"I... I don't know," she said and broke down in tears.

"You don't know what?" I asked her and made her sit on the bed. I sat beside her.

"I don't know. I just woke up one day and found out I was pregnant. I thought Master would kick me out, and the other maids would think weird about me. So I kept it a secret. Every day I got up earlier than everyone else and made baby formula for him. And that just became a habit, to be with my baby, to stop him from crying loudly. I decided to address myself as the head maid. I figured if I always had a temper, the other maids wouldn't bother coming into my room. So I became just that. All that time I came in here and put the TV on loud so that they couldn't hear the baby cry. But then you blew my cover off. I knew I couldn't hide it for long enough anyway. But I still need a roof to keep my son warm," she managed to say all that in between crying. I felt horrible. I hugged her and said,

"I am so sorry, Carol. I didn't know what you were going through."

"It's okay."

"How old is the baby?" I asked her.

"He is just about 5 months old."

"Oh my god, he is too young. And I assume you have not yet taken him to the doctor?"

"Yeah, you are right. I couldn't take him to the hospital. My break time is over. Oh no, he is not asleep yet."

"I will babysit him until you come back."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, of course. I babysat my brother all the time when I was younger," I said proudly.

"Okay, but mind you, he is a bit moody, and I will be back in an hour."

"Yeah, that will not be a problem. If anything goes south, I will call you."

"Okay then, I will leave now." She left, and I looked at the baby. He was pretty like his mother. He had green eyes and black hair, just like a Bombay cat...

"Hey, I am back. So why were you visiting me?" she came back and asked.

"Oh, because I got a text like this, so I was wondering if you knew who sent me." Yeah, I didn't exactly say that I assumed she was the one because I feel shitty for doing that whatsoever.

"Nope, I don't know anything about it. Anything else?" she asked.

"Is Ryan lingering around the house anytime today?" I asked.

"Lucky for you, he just left. He had an urgent matter to look after so he left," she replied.

"Cool. Does he have any cameras in his room or office?" I asked.

"Nope, I don't think so. 'Cause I never saw one, and he is a werewolf, so he doesn't need those. He can guess by the scent who was in there," she replied.

"Wow, that's cool. Um, thank you, and don't tell anyone about what I just asked you," I said.

"Yeah, and you too, don't tell anyone about this baby. Whatever happened in this room stays in this room," she said.

"Yeah, sure, but Carol, you will have to tell Ryan sooner or later," I said in a worried tone.

"I know, I am just not ready right now," she replied.

"I understand," I said and left. I went straight to Ryan's room. I know the maids aren't going to stop me. I went straight for that drawer. It was not glowing this time, but I opened it, and I found nothing. It was empty. I then had to go to his office and look for his birth records and everything. I looked everywhere and yet I couldn't find it. At last, I saw a secret drawer under his desk. and just as I was about to my phone fell.

As I reached for my phone, a chilling voice whispered behind me, freezing me in place. "You shouldn't be snooping around where you don't belong," it said, sending shivers down my spine. I slowly turned around, heart pounding, to find...
