Chapter 15 - WHAT HAPPENED TO EMILY?

Emily smiled wickedly. Shivers went down my spine. I glanced at Ryan; he was as confused as I was. What was wrong with Emily? We both wondered.

"Hey, Emie? You are out early," I said, hoping to spark a conversation and bring Emily back to reality. She gave me a sinister look, a devilish grin, and spoke in a voice that did not belong to her.

"Hi there, didn't see you, Volkov. Guess I am about to have a meal, a Crimson, and a Volkov."

"What the fuck," I looked at Ryan, but he was not surprised. Rather, it felt like it was not his first time seeing something like this. Ryan pulled me behind him after getting up.

"Oh look, what a rare sight, a Crimson saving Volkov," said sinister Emily. Ryan clenched his jaw and spoke.

"Leave Emily, right now. You don't want trouble." I was confused and couldn't understand the situation.

"Oh, pardon me, I am so scared. Hahaha, you wish. Don't you want to leave this place and be a happy alpha Crimson?" she said while laughing wickedly. I still didn't know what she meant by 'leave this place and be a happy alpha.'

"No, I do not wish for this. You are leaving her body right now."

"Oh no, I do not wish for it either and don't lie, Crimson. I know what you think beneath the love and affection you are showing. I know how much you are itching to crave out her heart and get out of this horrible place," said Emily sinisterly, as she took steps towards us, her hand slowly caressing Ryan's face.

"No, I don't," said Ryan, glaring into her eyes. Speaking of eyes, I noticed her eyes were turned black, and her entire eyeballs were black.

"Don't lie. Want me to show everyone what you are about? Or do you wanna do it yourself?" she asked.

"Ryan, what is she speaking?" I asked as I was confused about it. The light was getting dim; it was perhaps the weather.

"Oh, honey, you still don't know what this guy is about. Oh my, I am feeling sad for you. Come with me and let's find out," she said and lent me a hand. I didn't accept, I stood my ground and stepped beside Ryan. I spoke in a higher voice.

"Emily, I know you are in there. I don't know what is happening to you, but remember I will always love you," I said, and her eyes changed back to normal. She spoke in a crying voice.

"You—you love me? Even after lying to me and going all about behind my back?" She changed the tone of her voice in the last sentence. For a second, I was tricked and thought Emily was back.

"I didn't go behind your back, and I did not certainly lie," I said in a high voice. Ryan was reading a chant and went on and on with it. Emily started to feel pain; she fell backward.

"Emily! Are you okay?" I said and went towards her, but she grabbed my neck and laughed menacingly.

"You really thought that would work on me, Crimson? Cute," she said, and her other hand pulled my hair. I screamed at the pain, but it was of no use, she was laughing more menacingly. Ryan was worried, but then he left the room.

"Oh no, Prince Charming left his forbidden princess," she said, laughing more menacingly. I was horrified; I raised my hands and grabbed her hair too. Her hair was still wet; I pulled them, and her laugh died down. She pulled my hair harder; I stared deeply into her eyes and stuck our foreheads together. Emily/sinister screamed in pain; I guess memories are the hardest to forget since the sinister couldn't compete against them.

"Emily, remember when we first met? You were looking for your class, and you met me," I said, and the sinister screamed more in pain and pulled my hair harder.

"We both were lost and tried our best to find the class but couldn't, and it was lunchtime by the time we found it. We laughed the entire time," I said in pain, and she screamed harder. The door of the room opened, and it was Ryan. I thought he abandoned me, but he didn't; he went to find something, something that looked like a... white stone? Ryan caused the distraction, and Emily pushed me away, a little too hard; I got slammed onto the wall. I fell in pain; Ryan went to Emily, who was trying to run away, and he put that stone on her head and started muttering some chants; I wondered what they were. This time, Emily/sinister screamed louder than before; she was doing everything to get that stone away from her head. Ryan didn't look like he could hold on any longer. I got up, still in pain, and went towards them; I hugged Emily. She tried to push me away and yelled loudly, but I didn't let go. I hugged her tighter and started to sob on her shoulder, ignoring the pain in the back of my head. After a while, everything calmed down; I lifted my head from her shoulders; and she had fainted, and Ryan fell; he fainted too. I didn't have much energy; I knew I would faint too, soon; so I walked towards the bedroom door and said, loudly,

"Christine, Carol, anyone help!" All those words were loud enough for other maids on the floor to hear, and I fell right after saying that. My eyes were blurry; as the maids rushed towards me, their voices merging into a panicked chorus, I felt consciousness slipping away. But just before the darkness claimed me, I caught a glimpse of something chilling in the corner of the room. A shadowy figure, lurking in the dimness, its presence ominous and foreboding. Who—or what—was it? And what did it want?

Before I could even begin to unravel the mystery, darkness enveloped me, and I sank into unconsciousness, leaving the unanswered questions to linger in the air like a haunting whisper...
