The night seemed long. I couldn't sleep because of all the things that happened. Emily would cross my mind every time I tried to sleep, and if not Emily, then that blue-eyed guy would cross my mind. A part of me wished to stay back to see who he actually was, and then the mysterious thing—I couldn't sleep at all. I had questions for the void, and she would have to, but if I can't sleep, I can't meet.
I went out of my room. I checked in on Ryan; he was fast asleep. He must have had a tiring day. I went downstairs and drank some water. The glass that was broken earlier was fixed; I guess that's the power of money. I stared out the glass. Outside was a storm; thunder and lightning could be heard every minute. It was raining heavily. If I was not caught with all this shit, I would have gone out and enjoyed the rain.
I sat on the sofa, still looking outside. I saw something white and glowy in the distance, but it disappeared. I wonder what it was. Suddenly, there was a loud thud on the front door. I went to check. When I opened the front door, there were 4 baby... dragons? Wait a damn minute. Then the glowy thing was their mother? The babies were super cute, and I had a sudden urge to take them in my arms, but I stopped, sensing danger out there in the woods. I kneeled to their level; they were just babies, yet they were the size of a ragdoll cat. I guess I wasn't the only one feeling the danger that lies in the woods because the babies also turned towards the forest and kept growling at something lurking in the shadows.
A few seconds later, I heard a whoosh sound as if someone or something vanished. Right after that sound, the babies turned back to me and hugged me. I was skeptical in case their mother came, but I guess I am their mother now because they all just hugged me, clung in my arms, and straight away went to sleep. I giggled and took them to my room. Guess I will keep them a secret. I believe not everyone has to know. What if they took them away from me? I have never raised a dragon before, let alone four, but I know they chose me, so I am going to do everything to raise them.
I placed them on my bed and took a deep breath. I was already tired from taking them all four upstairs to my bedroom since they each weighed over 5 kg. But after searching on WizardSearch (a website for people who are not human, e.g., werewolves, witches, vampires, etc.), I found out that raising a dragon that small should be like raising a human toddler, which means they will do everything to annoy the shit out of you.
Also, I scanned them to find out they are an extremely rare type of dragon. They are rare; most people believe they are extinct, and they are very aggressive. Well, I don't believe they are aggressive because of the way they all climbed onto me and slept. Nah, I doubt they are aggressive. Their breed is called Omni-ischyros dragon, which means that these are the dragons who can do everything and are extremely powerful, very rare, and don't trust anyone. Surprisingly, they trusted me.
I decided to give them names. Two were females, and two were males. Both the females had an orange patch on the top of their heads, black eyeliner on their eyes, and their digits were black as if you made them wear boots. Their skin, however, was icy blue. One of the females had a nose of red color; the other had white. Their wings were different too. The one with the red nose had gold on her wings, and the one with the white nose had silver on her wings. Based on this, I named them: Aurelia for the gold-winged one and Lunaria for the silver-winged one. They had ears like bats, in blue colors. Looking at them sleep is my favorite thing in the world now.
The males had black patches on their heads, and their digits were in icy blue color, while their skin was a mix of orange and red patches. Their tails were white, and so were their wings. Unlike the females, they had wings in green and purple... shimmer? I don't know. One had green on the wings, and the other had purple on its wings. Chloros; the green one, Tyrius; the purple one. They were all curled up into a ball on my bed. Thankfully, they did leave some space for me to sleep too. I settled next to them, and as soon as I did, I fell asleep right away.
"Do you have any idea you could have killed us both? How dare you go into the woods alone? Are you crazy?" The void yelled.
"I am not crazy. I couldn't just leave Emily there." I cried.
"Leave Emily? Where is she now, huh? He took her! There is no way back to her, not until you defeat him." the void protested.
"Who took her?" I asked,
"He-who-holds-the-power! And how could you be so dumb? How could you fall for his trap? He almost killed you. I had to knock some sense into you!" the void answered
"Wait what? He was he-who-holds-the-power? How can he hold the power? His eyes were blue!" I replied,
"Blue? What does that mean?" the void asked,
"Are you dumb? Be honest," i replied, slightly annoyed,
"I don't know. I haven't been out for a long time because of you!" the void protested,
"Okay, fine! Blue means not an alpha, which can also mean he is weak. Blue means human!" I answered
"Oh, right, but did I ever mention that he is a werewolf?" the void snapped,
"Agreed, but I am telling you that he is not a werewolf, but a different creature," i said,
"Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that you got us both almost killed today!" the void yelled,
"I am sorry about it! Okay? Let's drop it." I asked for a truce,
"Yeah, so did you find anything?" the void questioned,
"I found 4 baby dragons. They are Omni-ischyros!" I said excitedly,
"Wait what? Aren't they like extinct?" the void asked,
"I know, right! But they hugged me, so I took them in. Their names are Aurelia, Lunaria, Chloros, and Tyrius." I replied excitedly,
"So instead of solving the riddle and getting us out of this misery, you decided to go and adopt some of the most powerful dragon babies?" the void asked, getting angry,
"Yup!" I said excitedly,
"Don't be proud about it. You have to solve the damn riddle. God, I can't keep up with you. I have a huge urge to punch you right now!" Yelled the void.
"Hey, come on. They will protect us in the future. Also, you said they are extinct. Doesn't that raise some questions?" I said changing the topic, so that in the future if I ever met the void, it won't punch me,
"It does, but none of it really answers. Sorry, Ivy, time out; I got to go." said the void,
"Wait, don't go—" and the void was gone.
"Oh my god, what the hell is this? Call Master!" I heard Christine's familiar voice. Wait, Christine's voice? I woke up, and my room, however, looked a little bit of a mess. I mean, those babies tore every pillow apart, and dug a hole in the sofa, and Christine almost got a heart attack looking at the condition of my room. I, however, was perfectly unharmed. As soon as I woke up and sat up, all of the babies rushed to me and cuddled me.
"What the hell are these, Ivy?" Christine asked.
"Oh, they are just baby dragons," i said,
"Yeah, I know; I can see. But why the hell are they in your room? And the mess—oh my god. And why are they hugging you?" Christine was having a panic attack,
"I don't know. I adopted them yesterday. Here, this is Aurelia; this is Lunaria; this is Chloros, and this is Tyrius!" I said excitedly, pointing at each one of them.
"Oh my god, Master's going to have a heart attack." she was breathing heavily,
"Why would I have a heart attack?" Said Ryan as he stood, right behind Christine, giving her the biggest jump scare of her life.
"Oh my god," Christine said and fainted. A maid came in and took Christine's passed-out body out. I looked at Ryan, and he was shocked.
"What the hell? Aren't these extinct? That was the first thing Ryan asked me.
"Well, what do you think? They look extinct enough?"
"No, not at all," Ryan said and smiled.
"You are a magical savage. How did you even get them to like you? That is so rare. I could like kiss you right now!" He said, being super happy about the baby dragons. This was totally unexpected though. I thought he would be mad, but he was not!
"I didn't. They chose me. I did nothing," I said and smiled. I leaned in and gave Ryan a peck on the lips.
"Guess we will raise them," said Ryan, smiling at the babies
As Ryan smiled at the babies curled up on the bed, relief washed over me. They seemed so peaceful, so innocent in their sleep. But then, a faint rustling sound caught my attention, coming from the window. I glanced over, expecting to see the storm outside intensifying. Instead, I caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure darting away into the darkness of the night.
My heart skipped a beat. "Did you see that?" I whispered, tightening my grip on one of the baby dragons.
Ryan's expression turned serious as he moved towards the window, peering out into the rain-drenched night. "Someone's been watching us," he murmured, barely audible over the howling wind.
Fear tingled through me. Who could be lurking outside, and what did they want with us and the baby dragons? I shivered, feeling a knot of unease forming in my stomach. It was as if our moment of peace had been shattered by an unseen threat.
The mystery of the baby dragons had just begun, and I knew we were about to embark on a journey far more perilous and unpredictable than anything I had ever imagined.
