Chereads / HIS SLAVE TO HIS QUEEN / Chapter 20 - THE DRAGON ESCAPE

Chapter 20 - THE DRAGON ESCAPE

The dragons were now, each the size of a woolly mammoth. The safe house was big; it was on the outskirts of a village/town, but there were not many people in the town, and the chances of anyone coming to the safe house were low. The safe house was big; it was like a huge haunted castle. Unlike Ryan's place, this one had only a ground floor, and the roofs were extremely high, which is how the dragons were staying inside.

All I knew was that I couldn't hide the dragons anymore. They had grown too big and were on the outskirts of town. Normal people would find out soon. I went to the room Christine was in before, but she was not in there. I sent another quick text to Ryan about the dragons and my whereabouts, but he was inattentive.

I walked out of the room, and I felt a sharp pain in my neck as if someone had poked me with a needle—oh wait, they have. I couldn't see who it was since they were behind me, but all I did know was that they were very well connected with the guy in the forest. Everything turned dark in front of my eyes. I wished to at least see how my dragon babies were, but I was unable to.

Here is the punctuated version of the continuation:

"I woke up. The room was moving? I thought. No, wait, I am in a truck! My hands were tied behind my back, and I looked around and saw I was in the truck with Chloros. He was unconscious. Thankfully, they forgot to tie my mouth, so I yelled out to Chloros. I saw him move slightly. I kept calling to him, hoping for him to wake up. It succeeded—Chloros woke up, but he was tied too.

I tried to break free, but it was impossible. Then it clicked with me—I scooted over beside Chloros and used his claws to open my hands, which thankfully was a success. After making myself free, I tried everything and freed Chloros too. Chloros didn't know how to fly, or maybe he did but he never flew in front of me. But I didn't care. Only if I could free him and the others.

I tried very hard to open the truck door, but it seemed impossible. Chloros was getting stressed too. I didn't want to use Chloros's power, but now I had no choice. Chloros went to the door and burned off the hinges with his fire breath. The door fell off, and I realized we were on a highway. Thankfully, there was no other car. I jumped on Chloros's back, and then together we jumped off the moving truck.

Demanding Chloros, he ran in front of the truck, knocking it over. I could see three more trucks. Chloros ran at his max speed and burned off the door of another truck. It fell off, but Chloros moved to the side in time. Inside, an unconscious Lunaria. Chloros spitfire in the truck and the ropes that tied Lunaria melted away. Lunaria woke up too. Then we rescued the others too.

Once we were done, I sat on Aurelia and flew up in the air to get a precise sense of where exactly we were. It looked like we were on the way to the city, and the other side had a jungle. We flew towards the jungle. I sat on Chloros since he was the only one on the ground."

"As we approached the jungle, the lush green canopy spread out beneath us, a stark contrast to the urban landscape we had just left behind. I held on tightly to Chloros' mane, a mix of relief and determination coursing through me.

Aurelia and the others followed closely behind, navigating effortlessly through the dense foliage. I scanned the surroundings, searching for any signs of danger or civilization. The distant hum of the city faded into the background, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the occasional cry of nocturnal creatures.

After what seemed like hours, we found a secluded clearing deep within the heart of the jungle. It was the perfect place to rest and regroup after our harrowing escape. Aurelia gently touched down, her golden scales gleaming in the moonlight.

I dismounted, feeling the adrenaline slowly ebb away, leaving exhaustion in its wake. Chloros sat beside me, his amber eyes reflecting a mix of weariness and vigilance.

"We need to figure out our next move," I murmured, more to myself than anyone else. The dragons gathered around, their presence reassuring amidst the unfamiliar surroundings.

Lunaria approached, her silver mane shimmering as she nudged my arm gently. It was as if she understood the gravity of our situation, offering silent solidarity. I stroked her gently, grateful for their unwavering loyalty.

"We can't stay here for long," I said aloud, knowing the vulnerability of our current situation. The enemy could be searching for us, and we needed to find a way to protect ourselves.

"We'll need supplies," I continued, my gaze sweeping the clearing as if assessing our options. "Food, water, and a plan to stay hidden."

Aurelia shifted restlessly, sensing the urgency in my voice. I glanced at Chloros, silently communicating our shared determination to keep our newfound freedom.

With renewed purpose, we set about gathering what we needed, pooling our skills and resources. The night stretched on, filled with quiet determination and a sense of camaraderie forged in adversity.

As dawn broke over the jungle canopy, we were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. With the dragons by my side, we were not just survivors—we were a formidable force, bound together by loyalty and the unbreakable bond of friendship.

The journey ahead was uncertain, but we faced it with courage, knowing that together, we could overcome anything.

we needed from the jungle—fresh water from a nearby stream, edible plants, and materials to fashion temporary shelters. The dragons, adept at survival in their own right, assisted where they could, their strength and abilities proving invaluable.

As the night wore on, a sense of camaraderie grew amongst us, forged by our shared ordeal and the bond that had developed over time. We strategized quietly, mindful of keeping our location hidden from any potential threats. The jungle seemed to embrace us, its sounds soothing yet alerting us to the presence of nocturnal creatures.

With the first light of dawn painting the sky, we had assembled a basic camp. Sheltered beneath the canopy, we rested briefly, replenishing our energy for the journey ahead. I glanced at Chloros, his scales reflecting the morning light, a silent acknowledgment of our resilience and determination.

"We need to find a more permanent solution," I said, voicing the unspoken thoughts shared by all. "Somewhere safe, away from prying eyes."

Aurelia rumbled softly, her gaze unwavering as if agreeing with the urgency of our predicament. Lunaria paced nearby, her silver mane catching the light as she kept watch, a testament to her alertness.

"We'll need to stay vigilant," I continued, thoughts racing ahead to what lay beyond the jungle. "We can't risk being found again."

Chloros nodded in agreement, his expression serious yet steadfast. The dragons gathered around, a formidable sight amidst the tranquility of the jungle, their loyalty a source of strength.

"We're stronger together," I said, addressing them all, gratitude filling my voice. "We've come this far. We'll find a way."

With that resolve, we prepared to leave the jungle behind, our destination uncertain but our determination unwavering. As we set out, the dragons by my side, I knew that whatever challenges awaited us, we faced them together—bound not just by survival, but by a deep, unbreakable bond of friendship and trust.

As we ventured deeper into the jungle, the dense foliage seemed to close in around us, obscuring our path and heightening our senses. Every rustle of leaves and distant call of wildlife kept us on edge, reminding us that danger could lurk around any corner.

A sudden roar echoed through the trees, chilling our hearts with its primal intensity. The dragons tensed, their instincts alert and ready to defend. I gripped Chloros' mane tighter, scanning the surroundings for the source of the ominous sound.

Then, emerging from the shadows ahead, a figure materialized—a lone figure with piercing eyes that seemed to glint in the dim light. A voice, low and menacing, spoke through the foliage.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?"

Before us stood a figure cloaked in darkness, their intentions unclear and their presence threatening. The dragons growled softly, sensing the danger emanating from this unexpected encounter. I exchanged a wary glance with Chloros, silently preparing for whatever challenges lay ahead.

The figure took a step closer, its silhouette merging with the shadows of the jungle. My mind raced with questions—friend or foe? What did they want from us?

As the tense silence stretched between us, I braced myself for the confrontation that seemed inevitable, knowing that our journey had just taken an unexpected turn—a turn that could change everything.
