Chapter 1 - Chapter 1, The Yearn for Warmth

It was quite early in the morning. The feeling of dampness in the air made that evident. Most people still don't get out this early, except some early risers. But there was a boy, his school uniform signifies he was going to school. He had dark brown hair reaching his nose and deep-set green eyes. He seems to be an average height of five-foot-eight.

He steadily walked, his gaze remained fixed on the sidewalk, each step a mechanical response. while feeling the cold air on his deathly pale skin. From his facial expression he seems to be thinking of nothing, but his eyes, though emotionless, hid a deep well of loneliness, and longing for a haven.

'Why can't I be happy?', Sora thought, a bitter question that echoed in his mind. Anger simmered beneath the surface, directed at his uncle, at the unfairness of it all. Why did he have to be trapped in this life?

His life had taken a sharp turn for the worse on his sixth birthday. While going to a restaurant to celebrate with his parents, they were involved in a terrible car accident. He was the only one who survived….. Unfortunately.

Tears welled up in his eyes, blurring his vision for a moment. 'Why didn't you take me with you, Mom, Dad?' he thought, the unspoken words a heavyweight in his heart.

His Uncle, Kenj. Took him in, At first, he thought his Uncle's family would give him the warmth and love of a family, but that hope was quickly destroyed, his Uncle and the whole family seemed to hate Sora. So, why did they take him in? Sora asked himself, like always. But never getting the answer.

Kenji doesn't pay for his school, but thankfully Sora's parents left him a trust fund, that pays for his school and basic needs. Though most of the money is taken by his uncle, for his son, while saying,

"You're useless ass is only a burden to me. So this money is rightfully mine." These words still echoed through his mind. Though the words were harsh, he couldn't but agree with them. So, he didn't rebel against his Uncle.

'More like I am too much of a pussy for that' Sora thought with a dry humorless chuckle.

After all of this, some might have ended themselves, it's not like Sora hasn't thought of it. But he decided not to give in to the overwhelming urge to simply just….. disappear, yet. He wanted to feel love. He wanted to hug someone, feeling the human warmth. He wanted someone who would console him while crying. All of this seemed unrealistic to him, but he was clinging to this hope with his very soul. Maybe, just maybe, someone would love him.

He has read countless novels. Some of which contained "Yanderes". Most people seem to find Yanderes weird and creepy. But Sora found them to be very cute and got jealous of the person who was their target. He wished for someone to love him like that. Even if it was considered unhealthy….

While thinking about all of this, Sora realized he was close to his school. He could see the intimidating gate. The time is around 7:50 am. The school bus will arrive soon. Sora's house was around an hour away from school, most faraway students like him, used the bus. But he walked to and from school.

'Walking is good for my health,' he thought, a flimsy excuse even to his own ears. The real reason was the overwhelming stress he felt crammed into the noisy, crowded bus.

Just as he was about to enter school, he felt a piercing gaze on him, which sent a chill down his spine. Sora started looking around searching for the source. But he saw no nothing out of the ordinary. The creepy yet exciting feeling still lingered.

'Maybe I am just imagining things. Sleep deprivation does a lot to one's mind I hear.', Sora thought with an awkward chuckle escaping his lips.

He started walking again and soon reached his classroom. Where he put his bag and took out a book, which seemed to be a fantasy light novel, and started reading with a blank look.

After 5 minutes, he heard the noise of the bus arriving. He looked outside and saw students, both male and female, getting out while chatting happily with each other.

'I wonder how it feels to be happy like that.', he thought to himself each laugh a reminder of the connection he craved, a connection that seemed perpetually out of reach. He put down his book, and sank deeper into his chair, the weight of his loneliness pressing down on him like a suffocating fog….
