"Hey guys let's make barbecue!" Charmel suggest .The suggestion of a barbecue sparked excitement in the group. The idea of cooking food over an open fire sounded like the perfect way to end the day. "Hell yeah!" Kai exclaimed, his eyes lighting up.
Leo nodded in agreement. "I'm starving. A barbecue sounds amazing."
Chika smiled, looking forward to the thought of good food.
"What are you waiting for? Cook now" Charmel Command. The group laughed at Charmel's authoritative tone. They knew her well enough to not take her commands too seriously.
Kai stood up and dusted off his shorts. "The lady has spoken. We better get cooking."
Leo followed suit, also standing up. "Yeah, we don't want to disappoint our fearless leader."
The group got to work gathering firewood and setting up a suitable area for the barbecue. They started a fire, the crackling and popping of the flames adding to the lively atmosphere.
Once the fire was burning steadily, Kai started to grill various types of meats and vegetables.
As the aroma of grilling food filled the air, the group's stomachs growled in anticipation. They chatted about their day, sharing stories and laughter while waiting for the food to cook.
"hey Charmel! Stop eating! And help us!" Kai said feeling irritating. Charmel was caught in the act of sneaking bites of food from the grill while no one was looking. She froze as she heard Kai scold her, realizing she had been caught.
"What?" she protested innocently, trying to act nonchalant. "I'm just taste-testing to make sure it's cooked properly."
Kai rolled his eyes at her excuse, clearly not buying it. "Don't give us that," he said, crossing his arms. "You're just trying to sneak extra food. Help us or we'll finish all the food before you can have more.
Chika, while the others were distracted with the barbecue preparations and dealing with Charmel's antics, had discreetly slipped away.
She returned a few minutes later holding a pack of firecrackers in her hands. A mischievous smile tugged at her lips.
As she rejoined the group, she made sure to hide the firecrackers behind her back, not wanting them to see her unexpected purchase just yet.
She took a seat next to Leo, keeping her secret stash hidden. Kai and Charmel were still bickering about the food and who was eating most, oblivious to Chika's return. Chika exchanged a conspiratorial grin with Leo, silently indicating her plan.
"I said stop eating, Charmel" Frustration was evident in Kai's voice as he repeated his earlier command. He knew Charmel had a habit of sneaking extra food, often more than her fair share.
Charmel, mid-bite, looked up at him with a sheepish smile, crumbs sticking to her cheek. "I'm just hungry," she protested, feigning innocence.
As if on cue, just as the tension between them reached its peak, Chika took advantage of the distraction and lit the first firecracker.
The sky erupted in a burst of color and a loud pop, illuminating the evening in bright flashes of light. The sudden explosion caught everyone off guard.
Kai, Leo,Chika, and Charmel turned their attention away from the food and the argument to the unexpected source of the sound.
They watches in awe as the firecrackers continued to erupt, each one releasing a flash of colorful sparks into the night sky.
The group stood transfixed, their eyes locked on the display of the firecrackers bursting in the sky. One after another, they sent bright colors and patterns dancing against the night, each one more spectacular than the last.
Charmel couldn't help but voice her appreciation, her voice filled with wonder. "It's beautiful," she whispered, awe evident in her tone.
As the last of the firecrackers sputtered out, the group's attention shifted to the moon illuminating the night sky. The full moon bathed everything in a soft, silvery glow.
Kai, captivated by the night sky, commented on the moon's beauty. He turned towards Charmel with a gentle smile. "And also the moon is beautiful, isn't it?" he echoed.
Charmel followed his gaze, looking up at the moon, her eyes reflecting its silvery light.
She nodded in agreement, a soft smile gracing her features.
"...Yes, it is," she replied quietly, the earlier intensity of their argument forgotten in this moment of shared appreciation
"Give me your hand" Charmel Command.
Caught off guard by her sudden command, Kai raised his eyebrows in surprise. He glanced down at his hand, then back up to meet her eyes.
Kai extended his hand towards her, his curiosity piqued.
"What for?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice. Charmel didn't respond with words but instead gently took his hand in hers. She laced her fingers with his, intertwining their hands.
Her touch was soft, her grasp firm as she held onto his hand.
Kai's eyes widened with curiosity as Charmel placed something in his hand and closed his fingers over it. He glanced down, his closed fist concealing whatever it was she had given him.
Curiosity filled him, and he tried to guess what it could be. As Kai opened his hand, he revealed the firecracker that she had given him. The small ignition cord was visible, signaling that it was ready to explode at any moment.
Kai's eyes widened in realization, and his heart skipped a beat as he realized she had given him a live firecracker. Recognizing the danger, Kai quickly yanked his hand back, pulling away from the firecracker as soon as he realized what it was. His eyes widened in a mix of surprise and alarm as he held the live firecracker at arm's length.
Kai's voice shook with urgency as he scolded her. "What the hell, Charmel?!"
"ahh! The barbeque are going to be burn" Charmel said. As quickly as the moment of tension had intensified, the group's focus shifted back to the forgotten barbeque.
The aroma of cooking food lingered in the air, accompanied by the crackling of flames. Leo and Chika, who had been observing the interaction, were now drawn back to the task at hand.
Leo's eyes widened as he realized the potential danger. "The barbecue!" he yelled.
As the excitement from the firecracker incident subsided, the group continued with their evening at the beach. Laughter and lighthearted banter filled the air as they put the dangerous encounter behind them.
The moon continued its steady journey across the sky, its light now a bit dimmer.
