Chapter 29 - Chapter 28: Evil Spirit

As the class continued with their usual routines, Charmel found herself growing increasingly upset about not being voted as the treasurer. Frustration simmered beneath her calm exterior, her disappointment still fresh in her mind.

During lunchtime, Charmel retreated to the rooftop, her usual spot to clear her head and enjoy some solitude. Sitting on the edge of the rooftop, Charmel stared out at the sprawling view of the school below. The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the campus.

She let out a frustrated sigh, her thoughts swirling as she replayed the class election in her mind. She couldn't understand why her classmates didn't appreciate her idea of using school funds for fun activities.

"Charmel, I didn't know you where her" Her classmates said Charmel was distracted from her thoughts by the sudden voice, and she looked up to find one of her classmates, a girl named Lila, standing before her.

"Hey," Charmel replied, her tone a bit distant as she returned her gaze to the view below. Lila perched herself beside Charmel on the edge of the rooftop, her eyes also taking in the scenic view. The silence stretched between them for a moment before Lila spoke up, sensing Charmel's troubled expression.

"You seem upset. Everything alright?" she asked, her tone gentle.

"what do you think if I jump this rooftop?" Lila's eyes widened in shock at Charmel's sudden remark, her head whipping around to gaze at her in disbelief.

"Wait, what? You're not actually considering that, are you?" Lila asked, her voice trembling with a mix of concern and surprise.

"pff HAHAHA I'm just joking" Lila let out a relieved sigh, a nervous chuckle escaping her lips at Charmel's unexpected joke.

"Jeez, Charmel, you really had me worried there for a second," Lila said, her voice trembling slightly. She shook her head, trying to calm her racing heart.

Charmel chuckled, clearly amused by Lila's reaction. Her bad mood lifted slightly as she recalled the look of shock on Lila's face.

"Sorry, sorry," Charmel said between laughs. "I couldn't help myself. Your expression was priceless."

"Yeah, what will happen if I jump this rooftop?" Stussy Momo's sudden appearance startled Charmel and Lila, both girls jumping in surprise. Their hearts pounded in their chests as they looked at their homeroom teacher.

"Ms. Momo! You scared us!" Lila exclaimed, her voice trembling slightly.

"What are you two doing up here?" Stussy Momo asked. Her sharp gaze flickered between Charmel and Lila, taking in their shocked expressions. Charmel's mind raced, realizing that their conversation about the rooftop jumped must have been overheard by their teacher. She mentally cursed herself for letting her words slip in front of a teacher.

"Uh, we just... wanted some fresh air," Charmel stammered, her voice betraying her nerves. Stussy Momo raised an eyebrow, her gaze still fixed on the two girls. She clearly didn't believe Charmel's excuse.

"Just some fresh air, hm?" she repeated, her tone slightly skeptical. "And what was that comment about jumping off the rooftop, Charmel?"

Charmel's cheeks burned with embarrassment as she realized that Stussy Momo had heard her flippant remark. She quickly tried to salvage the situation.

"It was just a joke!" Charmel explained hastily. "I was just kidding, Ms. Momo. I would never actually do that."

Stussy Momo studied Charmel for a moment, her sharp eyes searching for any hint of deception. After a few tense seconds, she seemed satisfied with Charmel's explanation.

"I hope you're telling the truth, Charmel," Stussy Momo replied, her tone still stern. "Making jokes about jumping off rooftops is not something to take lightly. It's dangerous and irresponsible."

"By the way be careful if you way back home." Before leaving, Stussy Momo cast one last warning glance at Charmel and Lila.

"Be careful on your way home today, girls," Stussy Momo said her tone filled with concern.

Charmel and Lila exchanged puzzled glances, wondering why their teacher would give them such a cryptic warning.

"What do you think she meant by that?" Lila asked, her voice low.

"I have no idea," Charmel replied, her brow furrowed in confusion. "But it was kind of ominous."

"let go back to our classroom." Charmel nodded in agreement, still pondering over their teacher's strange warning. She cast one last glance at the towering rooftop, a shiver running down her spine.

"Yeah, let's go," Charmel said, her voice tinged with unease. Charmel and Lila made their way back to their classroom, their minds still preoccupied with the conversation on the rooftop. The halls were quieter now, as most students had already left for the day.

As they entered the classroom, they found Kai standing near Charmel's desk, a concerned expression on his face.

"There you are," he said, his voice laced with relief. "I was wondering where you went. You just disappeared during lunch."

"By the way why everyone murmuring about?" Lila said

Charmel and Kai exchanged puzzled glances, noticing that a group of students were, in fact, whispering and stealing furtive glances at them.

"Not sure," Kai shrugged, his expression puzzled. "Did something happen?"

Suddenly Aaron interrupt "Because evil spirit wandering in the streets looking for victims every night"

Charmel's eyes widened at Aaron's words, a chill running down her spine. He seemed perfectly serious, which only added to the eeriness of his statement.

"Evil spirit?" Lila echoed, her voice trembling slightly

''What? Evil spirit?" Leo and Chika said

The four of them turned their attention to Leo and Chika as they joined the conversation. The room seemed to grow tenser with each passing moment, the ominous atmosphere making everyone on-edge.

Charmer glanced at Kai, her eyes silently asking if he believed Aaron's words.

"And you believed that kind story?" Aaron bristled at Charmel's skepticism. "It's not a story," he retorted, "it's the truth. People have reported seeing strange lights and hearing weird noises at night and also as a leader of exorcist I feel some evil aura every night."

Charmel found the sight of Chika and Leo clinging together, trembling with fear, both ridiculous and endearing. She couldn't hide a slight smirk at their reaction.

"Calm down, you two," Charmel said, rolling her eyes. "You're acting like you've never heard a ghost story before."

Kai chuckled at Charmel's comment, clearly amused by Chika and Leo's fear. "Yeah," he added, shaking his head, "chill out, guys. It's not like evil spirits are real."

"it's true." Charmel shot Lila a curious glance, wondering if she was serious or just playing along to scare Chika and Leo.
