After all was sorted out I decided it was time to head out.
I still had an appointment with Johan and also I'll have to call Maya, that is if she hadn't forgotten about me.
There was just something fascinating about her, maybe her fearless nature or her inquisitiveness. I don't know but she was the first human I had been attracted to.
I made my way to Glenn park, the place I agreed to meet with Johan before heading to the library. Although, I didn't really need to learn how to read anymore as my priorities had changed, I still felt the urge to learn something new.
I arrived at the park but Johan wasn't there so I decided to wait. As I waited I spotted a pay phone at the edge of the park, a perfect opportunity to make the call.

Tonight we went to the cinema. I was bored anyway and Koko seemed enthusiastic about the movie on display,
'DEMONS A LA CARTE'
A movie where an angel ventured into hell and was massacring demons here and there, quite a queer taste but it was to be expected from someone like Koko, a fanatic in every aspect of the word.
She picked up a few CDs after the movie, presumably the next part.
On reaching home, I was surprised to find my parents waiting in the living room.
They were supposed to be at work and even if they had a quick day, they would be up in their room or down in the basement doing God knows what, they never stay in the living room.
Koko also seemed to realize that something was amiss as she quickly went to serve tea.
"Maya." My mother began.
"Have a seat." She said.
And I took a seat at the far end of the room were I could observe both of them.
"We received Intel from the church ....and they said that the city is going to be on lockdown, they are sending a special team from HQ to look into the matter of the lurker." My dad said.
"And that concerns me how?" I asked my heart rate slowly going up. My dad never spoke unnecessarily so what he said must have a connection to what he was about to say.
"They also said they were going to take your with them, to the cathedral." My mom finished the sentence.
"What!!!!" I felt my head spin. Since a child my parents always threw hints at me that I was special and one day I'll have to take up the position of my grandma.
My grandma was like what one would call the pope in Roman Catholic fantasy. The head of the church, but there was more to it.
I knew so because my grandma was always staring into space with bags under her eyes. She looked tormented and she would always say to me whenever she visited that when I took over from her I would see the real world.
I thought it had a ended when my cousin Matilda was born, she was said to have been the perfect person for the position and I was no longer needed.
"What about Matilda weren't they taking her instead?!" I asked in shock.
"They took her, but she ran away just a month ago, your grandma passed away last week and a quick decision was made that you be brought in." My mother continued with a soothing voice.
I couldn't concentrate with all the shocking information I was receiving.
When was Matilda taken to the cathedral? Why did she run away?, Grandma was dead? All this was all too sudden and it seemed fishy to me.
"No, no, no!! Till I understand what's going on I'm not going anywhere, there's something sinister about that cathedral." I said.
"You will not speak foully against the church, young lady!!" My dad yelled.
I was shocked at his outburst, I looked to my mom but she looked away. I finally realized I was living with a band of fanatics.
I had to get away, it was just an intuition but I knew I had to get away.
I got up and bolted for the door but was surprised to see Koko already blocking it, she had a stoic look on her face.
I thought fast and ran upstairs, on getting to my room, I did something crazy.
I climbed out the window and from there unto the roof, I knew they would be after me any minute from now so I wasted no time.
As I jumped from roof to roof I felt exhilarated, the space between roofs were getting narrower making it easy for me to move.
I got to the pub down my street and pried open the roof window, an outlet in cases of emergency.
I ran down into the pub and from there down the street to the metro station nearby. I took the first train heading downtown.
