In a grand hall, brightly lit and painted in pristine white and gold colors giving of a feeling of righteousness, a woman in white robes could be seen kneeling in the floor in Front of a screen like barrier. On the other side of the barrier was a blurry figure clad also in white.
This was the cathedral. Most information on the church were vague and the people knew little about it's operations. To them the church was the organization given divine right by God to lead his people.
"Have you found them!!" The blurry figure inquired.
"Unfortunately not your holiness, we were this close to capturing the two but the Greyling kid interfered" the kneeling woman said in a low and reverent voice.
" The Greyling kid? I thought that after the wipe out of the whole Greyling family he would have known his place"
"daring to interfere with the matters of the church, just like his father he must be tired of living, sadly we still have use of him" the figure spoke.
"How are your 'dogs' progressing in the search?" the figure asked.
" We managed to track them to the abandoned Doom bay but we lost the signal, they took the ocean route so presumably they're headed for the badlands " she quickly read her report .
" It must be the Greyling boy, what a hateful kid!!" The figure spat through gritting teeth.
"Keep searching and notify me first personally if you find anything " the figure spoke as the screen like barrier slowly faded into a plain wall mural.
After confirming that the connection had been broken the kneeling woman heaved a sigh of relief. She just knelt there weakly as if she had been drained of strength. The strength of the church's higher ups was unfathomable for a small branch cathedral deacon. It was rumored that the main cathedral had experts that could shake the world with just their presence.
' how enviable, if not for God's blessings he wouldn't amount to much'
She finally got up, but she didn't leave immediately as she sat down and began to ponder the words of the figure on the other side of the screen wall.
It's seems the church was not as united as it was made out to be.
The figure was one of the big shots and had a lot of power, for such a powerhouse to explicitly make such a request meant there were things he wanted to hide from the rest .
After thinking for a while she shook her head and flashed a wry smile. There was nothing she could do but to obey orders, this was not a figure she could cross or her days would be numbered.
The main issue was, how was she going to find them. The ocean was a large place, far larger than all the landmass combined . Once they entered the badlands; a term for the areas beyond the church's control, finding them would be like searching for a pin in the desert.
" SIana"
" Yes deacon?"
" Send all standby teams in , also contact the neighboring regions and the naval forces , I want everyone who's anyone looking for that group"
" As you wish deacon"
" We have only 21 days before the ceremony Slana, you better find them"
As she spoke she gave off the vibe of a superior unlike the prior doglike posture, seemingly become a different person entirely. What was even more weird was that she was clearly alone but somehow she was having a conversation.

" So you mean to tell me that this world has demons and gods and the religions are all based on real entities and are not entirely fictitious" Maya asked with gaping jaws.
After they had rejuvenated themselves they had all gathered on the deck where Johan began to speak.
" Before I explain what's going on I will give y'all a brief outline on the basic situation of the world.
The universe is full of infinite space and different dimensions.
In one of these dimensions there was a great civilization in which different races coexisted in harmony. This stability however was based on the rule of might, the strong reigned supreme and the weak were exploited. Although it was chaotic it was actually quite an effective system, righteousness mattered little especially with the dark races running amok. This system continued for an unintelligible period of time, but it slowly evolved as a balance of power became prominent and factions started rising.
The dominant races back then where the abyssal race, the celestial race and the human race.
Humans where at the top at that time far stronger than both the celestial race and the abyssal race combined. They had developed a peak civilization with ample resources and manpower and they were blessed with quick procreation.
The meteoric rise of the humans however, started to make the others feel pressured, the humans were know mainly for their potential and if given the right conditions won't they become hegemonic.
