Hazel finally opened her eyes after few minutes of being out. Her eyes met another pair of beautiful blue eyes above hers. She blinked severally unsure of what she was seeing. "Is this... afterlife?" She gasped as she struggled to stay awake properly.
She looked elsewhere hoping to see something different, and her eyes met a familiar pair of eyes and worried face. She immediately recognized it to be Zelda.
Her eyes widened slightly in confusion as she tried to sit up. That was when she discovered that she was in the arms of someone unfamiliar.
She cleared her throat awkwardly and her eyes met the other onlookers who were watching from a distance. She suddenly felt awfully embarrassed but the arms that still settled on her waist and shoulders reassured her.
"You suddenly fell to the ground, convulsing but luckily, he caught you right in time before you hit the ground" Zelda explained, as if reading her confused mind.
Hazel nodded once and quickly stood to her feet. The strange man stood too, his eyes skimming through her body for any form or signs of injury.
"You're okay?" He asked, worry lacing his tone and she nodded after hesitating.
"Yeah, I am... I'm okay. I just, feel a little dizzy" she said quickly, feeling embarrassed and sad that this had to happen in public. She didn't expect it to happen again since she was finally back home, but it seemed she was wrong which got her in another phase of confusion.
Isn't Kieran enough difficulty she was facing here? Must hearing things also add up to her stuck up problems? Hazel let out a frustrated sigh but soon noticed she was still under the scrutinizing gaze of the guy in front of her.
"Hum, thanks for saving my ass just now... I really appreciate your gesture and patience. Thank you... really!" Hazel mumbled in uncertainty after contemplating whether to just thank him formally or informally. She choose the former.
Hazel pressed her lips together, obviously avoiding the man's gaze.
"It's okay... really. It's fine. I'm glad I helped" he said, his voice ringing an alarm in her oversensitive ears. There was absolutely no denying that he had a sexy voice but of course, not as sexy and seductive as that Alpha Devil, Kieran. He is sin, himself but then this man was also drop dead gorgeous.
His eyes... ocean blue and attractive, she could stare for hours and not get tired, then his beautifully carved jawline could make any sane girl want to run their tongue through it.
He was tall, probably as tall as Kieran or a little less. He had broad chest and shoulders and her fingers hitched to touch. He has this domineering aura to him, making it so obvious that he was an Alpha. For the first time again, she noticed the fact that he was quite different. He was hotly unique and she wondered why she hadn't figured out that he was new here. Probably here for just a visit.
Just as she was about to voice out her suspicions about him being new and ask several questions, Zelda's voice jolted her back to reality. That was when she realized how intently she'd been staring into his eyes.
She cleared her throat awkwardly, her hands hitching to slap herself for getting carried away by this hot Alpha that managed to deviate her sane thoughts. "Right! Hazel, looks like we have a stupid obsession with pretty sexy Alphas" she mumbled inaudibly before faking a smile.
"We'll leave now, mister" Zelda found the senses to say before dragging Hazel through the main door.
"In case you forgot ma'am, I can walk on my own!" Hazel yelled over the loud upbeat music. "How wouldn't I forget? This friend of mine was literally stuck up in a stop and practically drooling over a strange man for all we know" Zelda laughed, earning her a eye roll from Hazel.
"I won't deny it darling, that guy is smoking hot" she added and a sigh escaped Hazel.
She didn't know how to say that all through her heated staring at this guy, she was busy comparing him to that spineless Alpha devil! Kieran.
Did she just say spineless? He wouldn't want to hear it.
A laugh escaped her before she could stop it and Zelda shot her a crazed look.
"Oh no" she groaned, evading her friend's suspicious gaze on her.
"Whoa my friend, you're totally smi..."
"Hazel!" A strangely familiar toe curling voice yelled out her name, equally interrupting her friend's speech and surprising them both.
They glanced back almost in an instant only to come face to face with the handsome stranger once again.
She was shocked when he stretched out his hand for a handshake but when his hand touched hers, she could swear she felt tingles.
Oh hell! What did Kieran do to her? Did she suddenly become an addict?
"Of course not, we're not an addict" she could hear her wolf murmur in a distant voice.
"Then what the hell is this, Lila" she asked.
"Why don't you push this through and try to find out? I'm confused too" Lila murmured within her.
"What do you mean? You're reacting to his wolf, Lila!" Hazel groaned but Lila just had to sleep at that same moment.
She sighed again, wishing she could grab her wolf by the hair and make her bald!
"I'm Xavier, the Alpha of Wolfshade Pack" he introduced, his hand never leaving hers. She didn't miss the way his eyes looked into hers with great interest. He was practically stripping her with his eyes.
Why does the pack's name ring a bell?
"Wolfshade Pack.... the greatest rival pack?" She asked and he nodded once, a little smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"How the hell did you get Kieran to let you in?" She asked curiously and his expression stiffen for a while, his jaw tightening to hear her say Kieran's name as if she knew him personally.
He hated the thought so badly and didn't want to believe it unless he had proof. He got attracted to her at first glance and he would do anything to make her his and his alone. He doesn't care about what relationship she had with the jerk Kieran.
"Just a little talk of conviction, milady" he smiled heartily.
"We just thought we shouldn't be rivals without a particular great situation between the two packs and we agreed to see through this and get along better than we've done in the past" he explained and Hazel found herself nodding even when she wasn't convinced.
"It would sound more like Kieran if he mentioned getting things in return" she thought inwardly but decided not to voice it.
"Okay, I get it, Alpha Xavier" Hazel responded, slowly removing her hand from his.
"Here" he finally said, stretching out a card and Hazel frowned.
"I'll be hosting a ball by tonight and it'll be nice to have you there... with your friend" he said his eyes lingering on Zelda for a moment and she smiled, taking the card from him hesitantly.
"I intend to go before now, but thanks anyway... for this" Hazel said with a slight bow before turning to leave.
"Holy Jesus, girl. That is the VIP invitation you have with you!" Zelda shrieked, snatching the card from her hand with a big smile.
"Your intensive staring finally paid off" she yelled out but Hazel's hand was over her mouth in a split second.
"Quiet okay? I wasn't even staring!" She pouted as they made their ways home.
"Inviting Beautiful Hazel and her dazzling friend!" She read out carefully.
"How is it even possible to print out an invitation of a girl you just found out her name thirty minutes ago?" Hazel suddenly exclaimed.
"You should never underestimate an Alpha darling" Zelda replied before staring at the invitation again.
If only she knew about how Kieran has been fucking her since the very night she arrived at Moon Gold then she'd resay that word Loud and Clear.
You should never underestimate an Alpha, a hot and domineering one at that. You shouldn't!
Hazel had underestimated Kieran's charms and her mad attraction to him which made her learn the hard way, this past two days that he would never be the same Kieran she knew before five years ago when he banished her.
