Natalie, who was stunning in a black dress that had the feel of designer wear, exits her black limousine under the bright, cool light of the moon. The grand charity gala, for which she herself became a hostesses and which was held by none other than her ex-husband, the billionaire tycoon Scott Foreman, was already under way. This was the first time Natalie was attending any function after their nasty divorce, and her heart raced as she felt this wonderful beat of anxiety. Finally, Natalie arrived into the splendid ballroom that was ablaze with a stunning display of chandeliers that shimmered above her and through a prism of colors on the marble floor. It is a grand hall with the top society personalities and the interest's best dressed personalities drinking tea and laughing to good soft music played by a string quartet. Natalie had the feeling that she was attending yet another event with Scott that they used to do together before their love turned into hatred through betrayal. There he was in the tremendous distance, looming like a giant, despite the enormity of people that surrounded him. Scott was every bit the powerful billionaire he was reputed to be; his beautifully tailored tuxedo further enhanced his broad shoulders and authoritative stance. He had black hair, and it was combed; he had those sharp blue eyes, and his body language was that of a man in charge. But there was a glaze in his eyes that wasn't present before, like he was somehow haunted. For only a second—or perhaps it was a fraction longer—beneath intense scrutiny, they both look into each other's eyes, and Scott's once cold gaze slipped a little into tenderness before he started moving towards her. They immediately stepped aside for him, and this proved he was an influential man. Natalie was nervous and started sweating when he came closer; she knew what was to come, and there was no escaping it. "Natalie," Scott's tone was intense; he delivered her name slowly, as though it were painful for him to even say her name. "Thank you for coming." She looked deep into his eyes, and without any sign of warmth in her voice, she said. "I am here for the company, not for you," she said, but she felt a sweet pain in her heart as she took a look at him. The sweet past experiences, the happy and the sad moments—everything came back over her, and she was unable to suppress her emotion. This time Scott did not have a chance to reply; a woman materialized next to him. Isabel. Seeing her was like a knife stabbed directly into Natalie's heart; she never let go of the pain that Isabel had inflicted on her. Movements of Isabel's eyes toward Natalie were a combination of desperation and sorrow as she looked at Natalie. "Scott, we need to talk," Isabel said, her voice a clear indication of how tensed she was. "Not now, Isabel," Scott said firmly, and I felt myself growing uncomfortable with his never taking his eyes off Natalie. She spun around to head out the door. Yes, she needed air; she needed to be free from the man who ruined her life and the woman who instigated it all. She strode purposefully through the crowd with people staring and starting to speak in tones of hushed whispers. By the time Mario walked out on the terrace, the night was doing what it usually does in early June: giving relief to the raging heat that was inside the house. Natalie slid down the wall that skirted the balcony so that she was leaning back against the balustrade with both her hands clutching the stone in her lap in an effort to control her whirling mind. When she felt the footsteps nearing her, she was lost in her thoughts. She was expecting Scott, her boyfriend of so many years, but instead there was David, her old childhood friend and the business competitor of Scott. "Natalie," said David gently. Although David Cowan was doing his best to contain his anger and to appear calm and polite, the muscles on his face were tense, and one could easily see that he was offended. "I heard you were back in town; I wanted to see you." "David," she greeted, and she was happy to have somebody to talk to from the other side of the bar. David had been always there for her, especially when she dumped Scott in the rudest way possible. Their friendship had become very good, and she often wondered if the two could turn into loving, intimate partners. They engaged the beaker in a few words with the old days stories and the general happenings in their different lives. Guilt, anger, and self-punishing thoughts were still present regarding Scott's part in the situation, yet David's mere presence was reassuring. While this was happening, Natalie was able to gain some relief and feel more like herself again, contrary to the emotional roller coaster that she was in. Looking at them in the ballroom, Scott was filled with jealousy inside him as he saw Natalie carrying and dancing with David. He knew he had to make amends to her and get her back, but he knew it was not going to be a walk in the park. He had made her feel bad in the past, and that is why he needed to show her that he is worth forgiving. Days and nights that followed were filled with Scott's efforts at trying to woo Natalie back into his life. He apologized profusely to her and tried to make up to her with gifts and flowers, and lastly, he told her the truth. Isabel had cheated on him, and it had been an error—an error she had led him to in one of the biggest mistakes of her life. Isabel came to understand what harm she has inflicted upon the company and so left the company in a quest for her own deliverance. And it's the recognition of his mistake and the money that he brought home, day by day, that slowly unstopped Natalie. He encouraged her, provided her with every assistance she required, and as a man, he was there for her during the stormy moments as well as moments of success. As a friend, most importantly, he was a good listener. Natalie had to qualm about choosing between David and the safety and understanding he could provide her with and Scott, with whom she still had a complex feeling of love. The love triangle is the apex of the story because it brings out the best, or rather the true character, of Natalie as she endeavors to stand her ground and come to terms with her emotions and what she wanted in both men. Finally, it happened in the middle of a crisis when Natalie's heart decided for her. This is actually bad for me, Speck told her in regard to David's company being taken over by a hostile company. The love birds once left the show, and Scott came to help David's company, demonstrating he actually has a change of heart and is selfless. That is when, after the dust of confusion had cleared, Natalie understood that, though David was conventional and secure, she had been chasing dreams with Scott. Their love was tested and was almost on its way; their love was not completely shattered. It had been created in the heat of anger and a broken heart, but it came out warrier, tougher. Scott got on one knee in front of her, the small velvet box held out in front of him. "Natalie I have been rude to you all these days, and I never tell you that I love you, but please let me give you another chance. Will you marry me again in love?" Natalie, who was very emotional in nature, responded affirmatively by nodding her head with tears rolling down her face. "Alright, Scott, let whipping them silly start all over again, but this time it shall be on a company level. When they kiss and the lights of New York are behind them, they both understand that their story has barely begun. But, together, they would stand any kind of test that came as far as feelings were concerned; they were entangled.
