Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Crossroads of the Heart

That was enough for Natalie, and she got up from the table determined.   She would have to sort the main entanglement of feelings that enclosed her, and she realized that she couldn't postpone her choice indefinitely. She gets relief in her art gallery, but she realizes even there she can't evade what awaits outside her door.

When rehearsing for her tomorrow, Natalie got a call from her mom, who invited her to lunch with her. Reluctantly, she agreed. Most of the time, she hid herself from her mother, and especially her mother was full of expectations and pressuring her for relationships and family's pride.

In her family estate, Natalie received all the mainstream glamour. Her staff were active, and her mother Margaret was monitoring preparations for the next charity affair. Nevertheless, everything in the place seemed more like the shopping campaigns of her family than her personal residence.

"Natalie, honey, you look absolutely beautiful." Margaret said, hugging her daughter. "I'm glad you are able to come with me."

"Thank you, Mom." Natalie tried to smile, and then she said something in reply. "I was engrossed with the gallery concerns and other issues."

"Other things?" Feeling an urge for something new to talk with the spirit, Margaret smiled and asked eagerly, "Say."

This time the expectations hurt Natalie even more; by the time they sat down in a sunny dining room, she felt like she had failed her mother. She decided to be honest. "Scott came to my gallery. "He said sorry and wanted to correct his mistake."

Finally, the hard and rather severe look on Margaret's face relaxed. "So, although people did not trust Scott, I always trusted him, at least after some amount of disrespect." People can change, Natalie. "And there are always cases when they need to be given another shot."

Natalie sighed. "Mom, it is not only Scott whose problem that is." There's also David. He has always been my pillar, that I knew I could always depend upon for any support."

Subconsciousness slowly appeared on Margaret's lips, and her eyes narrowed slightly. "David is a great guy. But the question is where your heart is. Stability is for sure needed, but passion is even more needed sometimes. Love isn't always logical."

Still, the words of her mother were heard by Natalie during the conversation with her about different matters, and no matter what was discussed, it always returned to the same topic. That was Natalie's disappointment intertwined with the gratitude. Her mother was right, but it did not make things any easier for her to make her decision.

It was only when she got back to the gallery that Natalie realized she was alone and spent some time digesting her mother's words. She sat engrossed in herself when Claire walked in, looking worried.

Natalie, I have a person here who has expressed a desire to see you. "It's Scott," replied Claire, turning her back to me.

Natalie's heart raced. She didn't want to deal with him again today, but being passive wouldn't work at all. "Bring him in, Claire."

Scott entered. The man was strong and weak, fragile at the same time. "Hello Natalie, I'm afraid I must come by again and interrupt your day without prior notice; I just felt like seeing you."

"What's up, Scott?" Natalie said calmly, though she wanted to shout. I had a dream that I wanted to give you something. He said, as he passed her her small, colorful box. There was a very fragile silver chain with a piece of gold in the shape of a heart. You remember this? I got it before all this happened. I hope you still like it. I never remembered that I had this with me; let's not get the opportunity to give it to you.

Natalie immediately felt the memories of that day wash over her as soon as she placed her fingers over the pendant. "Scott, that's wonderful, but the gift will not help to pave the way for the way for what happened."

"i know." He spoke quietly. The issue is not to solve it. That is why, when I forget to put effort into something, telling her that I care is enough to encourage her and make her ask for another chance. "I am relatively confident that the days are not far off when I will regain your confidence regardless of how long it will have taken."

Natalie never got a chance to reply as Claire came back into the room looking somewhat contrite. "I'm so sorry, Natalie. David is on the phone. He says it's urgent.

Natalie saw shame enter her and felt disappointed and guilty. "This is terrible, but I need to take this, Scott, pardon." Scott only nodded his head to the words and looked at me with eyes of acknowledgment and sorrow, "I'll wait."

It was in the office that Natalie had been tasked with answering the phone. David, what's going on?

'Natalie, I know I shouldn't be disturbing you again and again, but there is an issue with the project again.' Investors need confidence. It would be uncalled for if the man said, "I could really use your help."

"We'll be there soon." She said in a rush, watching the door of the office where Scott was standing. Wait, David.

Finally she left feeling small and powerless; she went back to Scott, a loser. Scott,  I have to go. David needs me. This project is a great thing for his firm."

Scott's firmed up his face, but he nodded. Scott's face tensed a little, but he agreed. "Okay. Go. I'll talk to you later."

Natalie was thus having a complicated mind as she ran to David's office. On arrival, she saw him under pressure with his teammates, and the general atmosphere was tension.

"Natalie." David said, and relief could be seen on her face. "Thank you for coming. Ideally, we identified that we needed to develop a strategy quickly.

While the two partners were exploring the issue, Natalie began to think tactically. They are solving problems or cases and making new strategies and plans for the other significant meeting. It would have been a very hard battle that too for several hours before they managed to gain the upper hand.

After the said meeting, David and Natalie were able to find some time for a little rest. " The boy, imploring her, said something like, "Natalie, I don't know what I would do without you." David said, clearly grateful. "You were a savior."  "It's nothing, David." She replied in a kind of listless way. "I'm glad I could help."

Holding her hand, David touched it as softly as he could. Well, Natalie, you are not only helpful to me, but... You are everything."

The concern he could hear in his voice brought tears to her eyes. All she required was David's fight and her absolute faith, but seeing Scott beg for another opportunity to reconcile it melted her heart.

Later in the evening, whilst at her apartment, Natalie sat without company, bearing the brunt of the day. She received the following text from Scott: Though I understand you're very much occupied, I would like to find time to discuss with you in the near future. "I miss you."

I perceived the attraction of the two men, and she looked at her phone. For all cases, she craved a clear concept in order to clear her own conscience. "It seems I have five minutes before I go to bed," Natalie thought and decided to spend those five minutes for herself. She wanted freedom to be able to express herself—feel and reason. The next day she would let the gallery and cacophony be left behind and would instead head out into the countryside, where she believed the answer to the questions that plagued her could be found. oon.

"I miss you."  She looked at her phone, feeling the attraction of the two men. She wanted clarity to understand her own mind. As she prepared to go to bed, Natalie decided to take some time for herself. She needed space to think, feel, and make decisions. Tomorrow, she would take a day off, away from the gallery and the chaos. She will go to the countryside, where silence could help her find the answers she was desperately seeking.

Sighing, she lay down and hoped that she might find in her country simplicity the thoughts she desired. For now she will allow her sleep to dictate, and maybe, just maybe, in the land of dreams where she is without conscious thought, she will find the stillness her conscious mind has been searching for.
