The monster spewed green fire, and alarms blared as students ran down the hallway in panic. Professor Nightshade spoke through the magical microphone, "All students, there is an attack! Leave your lessons and get to your dorms now!"
Chaos ensued as everyone rushed to their dorms. Rowan frantically searched for Athena and Felix. Athena, seeing him, asked, "What is happening?"
"I—I don't know," Rowan stammered. "I saw a big green monster, and I wanted to tell the professor, but the monster already spilled fire, so I—I couldn't do anything."
They heard the monster spew fire again, and Professor Nightshade's voice echoed through the halls, "This is not a test, it's an attack! Go to your dorms. I will cast a safety spell." Despite her assurance, they kept running.
This time, Professor Nightshade screamed into the microphone, "ALL STUDENTS, GO BACK TO YOUR DORMS!"
"Bloody hell, Rowan, what happened?" Athena screamed.
"I said I don't know!" Rowan screamed back.
The monster spewed green fire again, shattering windows and making the alarm blare even louder. Athena grabbed Rowan and Felix's hands and shouted, "Teleport!" They teleported to her room.
Felix and Rowan exclaimed, "We need to fight back!"
"I know," Athena replied, "but we need a plan."
She quickly explained the plan, and they all nodded in agreement.
Rowan, Felix, and Athena teleported outside and saw the monsters. Athena whispered, "You guys know the plan, right?"
Felix and Rowan nodded, "Yes, we know."
Rowan shouted, "HEY BEAST, ARE YOU HUNGRY?" The beast turned and spewed fire. Rowan dodged from side to side to avoid the flames.
Athena screamed, "Aww, did you have too much fun attacking Rowan?" The beast turned to her, spilling fire. Athena ran to avoid it, but the beast became even angrier and unleashed a larger torrent of fire.
Rowan fell, and the beast advanced on him. Just then, Felix rushed in, pointing his wand at the beast. "Let go of my friends, or I'll have to use my wand," Felix said, aiming his wand directly at the beast.
He screamed, "LET GO OR I WILL USE IT!" The beast continued trying to attack Rowan. Felix then cast a spell that made the beast fall. He repeated the spell, and the beast stood up and flew away.
Professor Nightshade appeared and sternly said, "MR. FLAMEHEART, MISS NIGHTSHADE, AND MR. RAVENWOOD, what you guys just did was dangerous. Something could have gone wrong."
The three of them looked at her apologetically and said, "We are sorry."
Professor Nightshade continued, "I am not mad, but next time be more careful. If something happens to one of the students, it drives me crazy. Do not do dangerous things again like last time and today."
"We are sorry, Professor Nightshade," they repeated.
"It's okay. Thank you for saving the school. BUT I think I made myself clear that this must not happen again," Professor Nightshade concluded.
After Professor Nightshade disappeared, Athena remarked, "She kind of has a point. If something happened to us, she'd need to explain things to our parents. My and Rowan's parents are wizards and witches, so they can take the news. But Felix's mother..."
"Yeah, true. My mother is not going to take the news well if she finds out," Felix agreed.
As they were heading to the hall, they saw Thorn, who looked angry. Rowan asked, "What's up, mate?"
Thorn replied, "The class was boring, and they mentioned something about detention."
Athena laughed, "Did you get detention?"
Thorn sighed, "Yeah..." Athena burst into laughter, and Felix finally asked, "What did you do?"
Thorn explained, "Nothing, but that bloody hell of a professor is a nightmare." Flint chimed in, "He told her to 'f*ck off,' or else she'd see the consequences, which she wasn't happy about. Then Thorn started saying stuff about her, and she was done. She screamed, 'Why? Why? Why do they have to allow the members of 3V in the class?' and stormed off. The principal came and said Thorn has three weeks of detention."
Now, the three of them laughed.
As they were heading to the dorms, they saw a girl flirting with Flate, but he didn't seem to care. She grabbed his hand, attempting to kiss him, but he managed to pull away just in time and said, "Sorry, I'm not interested."
"Why? We have so much chemistry," the girl insisted.
"We don't have any chemistry, and plus, we just met today. You can't fall in love with someone that fast," Flate replied.
"Well, we can learn to know each other," she persisted.
"I'm sorry, but no," Flate said firmly.
The girl started to tear up and stormed off. Thorn remarked, "Wow, finally a girl expresses her feelings for you, and you only wanted her to go away."
Flate retorted, "At least I didn't get detention."
"Okay, okay, I get it. You don't want to date yet, but seriously, dude, that was a harsh way to push a girl away," Thorn commented.
Flate explained, "I had no interest in her. If I didn't do that, she would think I liked her, which I don't. And I'm not a player either. So, this was the best option I could think of. I'm sorry, but it was either that or the hard truth."
Rowan chimed in, "I have to agree with Flate on this one."
As Athena bid them farewell to read her books, Rowan and Felix replied, "Yeah, see you later." They headed towards Felix and Rowan's room, where Flint was still wearing bandages, but he looked better than before.
Thorn questioned, "Didn't they say we get our own houses?"
Rowan explained, "It's probably going to take a week since the Crest of Destiny needs some rest. If it doesn't rest, there won't be good options when it's angry."
Thorn sighed, "Damn... so we have to wait for a week?"
Rowan nodded, "Yeah, one week, or maybe earlier if the Crest of Destiny is green."
"What do you mean, green?" Flate asked.
"Well, I don't know much about the Crest of Destiny, but green means it's okay, red means it's busy, and orange means if you even try, it won't respond. So, they technically have their own will and power," Rowan explained.
"Wow," Flint remarked.
Thorn remarked, "So they made all the decisions by themselves?"
Rowan replied, "Yes, exactly."
"Now you sound like Athena," Felix teased.
Rowan snapped, "HOW DARE YOU! I DON'T SOUND LIKE HER!"
"You kinda do now," Felix chuckled.
"Pfff, not true," Rowan protested.
Just then, a letter came flying into their dorm. Athena had written, "Don't forget, we have to eat at the Hall of Feast at 16:00. I know you guys are going to forget, even with this letter, so another one will arrive at the exact time. And no, Rowan, you can't burn this letter."
"WHAT? WHY NOT?" Rowan screamed.
The letter changed, "If you're asking why not, it's because you need to remember it. So you guys won't be mad if time passes. And yes, I'm going to save a seat for you guys."
Thorn remarked, "How much do you guys forget that she even has to write a letter?"
Rowan explained, "Well, there was that one time we fought a monster that we woke up by accident."
Felix added, "And that time we got detention for waking up the monster, and the time we just forgot."
Rowan remembered, "Oh, and don't forget the time we were too tired and slept through the whole lesson, so we had detention again. But yeah, we forget sometimes."
Thorn sarcastically said, "Yeah, sure, 'sometimes'."
"This is kind of boring," Flint remarked.
Rowan suggested, "Should we sneak out and go to Crest City?"
"Yeah! Let's go to the Crest Cafe and get some milkshakes," Flate agreed.
"Good idea," Flint said, and they all nodded in agreement.
Thorn interjected, "Wait, how are we going to sneak out?"
"We're going to use our broomsticks. First, we have to go to Broom Land Place, and then we have to raid the brooms," Rowan explained.
"Flint, you can sit behind me on my broomstick since it's now dangerous for you to fly," Felix said.
"Okay, then. I don't mind it," Flint replied.
"Great plan, let's do it," Flate chimed in.
They all sneaked out of the room and walked towards Broom Land Place. Upon arriving, they opened the door and saw their broomsticks. Rowan took his and sat on it, and the others followed suit. Flint sat behind Felix on his broomstick.
They began to fly with their broomsticks, soaring up high so nobody could see that they were gone. They flew the whole way until they arrived at Crest City.
They arrived at Mimi's Cafe, and Rowan exclaimed, "This is my favorite place! They have really good food and lots of fun games like Play of Cards and Run Down the Magic."
As they entered, they saw a witch behind the bar who greeted them, "Well, hello Rowan! And who are these gentlemen?"
Rowan introduced them, "Oh, these are the 3V and Felix."
"The 3V?" the witch repeated. "Well, well, are you guys planning something evil again?"
Thorn quickly responded, "No, Flint is wounded, and we want him to be alright."
The witch was concerned, "Flint wounded? What happened?"
Thorn explained, "You know his mother, the one who's a dragon now? She was influenced by magic and tried to spew fire at him."
The witch gasped, "Oh dear!" But before she could say more, Flint interrupted, "It's okay. She doesn't remember me anymore because of the magic."
The witch offered, "You know what could make you feel better? Free limon magic drink."
Flint smiled in excitement, "Really?" The witch nodded, and they all eagerly drank the limon juice and played Stay of the Grind.
After bidding goodbye to the witch and waving, they hurried back to school. Upon opening the door to their room at 17:43, they found Athena waiting for them with crossed arms and a frown on her face. She looked mad and pointed to the wizard clock.
Rowan began to apologize, but Athena cut him off, "Do you know what? Never mind! You guys better be in the Hall of Feast at 20:00, or in the name of BLOODY LINZI, you guys have to look at the time yourselves. And I mean it!"
They all apologized and explained that they were at Mimi's. Athena softened a bit and asked, "How was Mimi's?"
Flint replied, "It was okay. The witch lady was nice, and we got free limon juice. It was also a good place; we played some games. It was really nice."
"Yeah, it was. Next time you can go with us," Felix added.
Athena sighed and said, "Okay, fine then."
As Professor Nightshade called the students to the Great Hall, they were all curious as to why they were being summoned. Felix noticed a guy with black hair and blue eyes, and Professor Nightshade introduced him as Evander Frost, a new student. Everyone seemed scared, even Athena, which surprised Felix. He whispered to Athena, "Who is that?"
"He's a Frost. They're the strongest wizards," Athena replied.
"Wait, I thought Lucian's family was the strongest," Felix said.
Athena shook her head, "They're in the Frost, so it counts. But the Frost are the strongest wizards and witches."
Evander then took his wand and cast a spell, "Moon ever sheep." Suddenly, the hall was plunged into darkness, but soon they could see stars and moons, creating a beautiful scene that made everyone happy. Evander then said, "Lights on," and the hall was illuminated, revealing its beauty.
"This is a welcome gift," Evander explained. His mother chimed in, "And an apology if Evander does something stupid."
"MOM!" Evander exclaimed, and his mother laughed.
His mother glanced at his father, who nodded in agreement. "Okay, okay, I think it's time for us to leave. Don't you think so, honey?" she said, addressing her husband.
"Then we will leave now. Have fun, my sweet baby boy," Evander's mom said to him. Evander's face turned red with embarrassment as his mom called him sweet. "Mom!" he protested, feeling a bit embarrassed by the endearment.
