A speeding Audi on the road shattered the usual order, causing multiple rear-end collisions and prompting complaints from many New York City residents.
"I swear, it wasn't intentional, it was just an emergency," Hapi said apologetically from the driver's seat, yet he pressed down on the accelerator again.
"Who grabbed her?" Indra asked with a serious expression from the back seat.
Due to the excessive speed, he had to grab onto the armrest.
Lorna Dane sat beside him, legs crossed, seemingly unaffected.
"I don't know who it was," Hapi replied, then suddenly jerked the steering wheel, muttering to himself, "Damn it, the road to the broadcasting building is blocked."
"We'll waste even more time now."
Upon hearing the words "broadcasting building," Indra couldn't help but furrow his brow and ask, "Don't you know what's going on there?"
Hapi, focused on speeding and with an indifferent tone, replied, "I'm busy every day, I don't have time to keep track of everything."
Indra tentatively asked, "Where's Tony?"
"Not sure, only know he went abroad with the Avengers," Hapi replied.
This made Indra fall into deep thought.
Previously, both President Matthew Ellis and Tony Stark had approached him, talking about Mandarin's prowess. But judging from the current situation, except for Hawkeye, none of the Avengers were at the broadcasting building.
So, this secretive mission to capture Mandarin must be orchestrated by the Country organization, led by Hawkeye and Hill?
Did Nick Fury participate?
Mandarin was caught so easily?
As Indra pondered, the car suddenly took a sharp turn.
Although Lorna Dane seemed unaffected, she suddenly threw herself onto Indra's lap and planted a kiss on his face with pinpoint accuracy.
As the car steadied a bit, Indra sat up and teased Lorna Dane, "If you say that wasn't intentional, I'll find it hard to believe."
"After all, you can control magnetic fields."
Lorna Dane smirked, winked at Indra, and said, "Accidents happen."
Hapi, still driving and unaware of what just happened, suddenly became excited, "It's definitely not an accident!"
This statement caught the attention of the two in the back seat.
Then, he continued, "You know, I quite like kids."
"And Annabelle is very cute."
It seemed like he remembered yesterday when he went to deliver medicine to Annabelle, and she innocently said, "Thank you, Uncle."
Hapi couldn't help but feel guilty for not being able to save her yesterday.
"Yesterday when I delivered the medicine to her, she was very happy, her parents were happy too, and they even invited me for dinner."
"They wanted me to stay longer, but I refused."
"Then, as soon as I got into the car, I heard gunshots. Those people shot and killed Annabelle's parents and took her away."
With a tinge of anger, Hapi cursed a few times.
After a pause, he continued, "I drove after them."
"You may not know, but I had an exciting high-speed chase with those villains yesterday."
"Although we didn't catch up to them, I planted a tracker on their car."
As if remembering something, Indra sat up and asked Hapi, "By the way, the thing I gave her, did she inject it?"
Hapi nodded and said, "She did, I personally watched her inject it."
This gave Indra a headache.
Annabelle injected the antidote to the Extremis virus. This meant she was just an ordinary little girl now.
Who would have such a big grudge against an ordinary little girl?
Did they have to kill her parents?!
"Bunch of assholes," Lorna Dane said angrily.
Her tone was filled with rage.
Just as Indra was about to speak, his phone rang.
The caller was still an unfamiliar number.
"I'm President Matthew Ellis."
Indra wasn't surprised that Matthew Ellis called him.
"Hello," Indra responded.
"Mr. Indra, you promised me you would take care of Mandarin, but now you're not going."
"Your reneging on your word makes it difficult for me."
Matthew Ellis's voice came from the other end of the line.
It was somewhat noisy there, sounding like more than one person.
"President, in my opinion, you broke your promise first."
Indra said with a displeased expression, "You promised to let me handle it alone, but now the Shield Agency is involved."
Before Matthew Ellis could respond, Indra quickly said, "I think I can explain this."
"In fact, we only formulated this plan yesterday because we had pinpointed Mandarin exact location."
Indra sneered and said, "But you didn't tell me about your plan."
Matthew Ellis sighed with some regret and said, "Mandarin is very cunning, so regarding the plan to capture him, we needed to keep it absolutely secret, to prevent any leaks."
Absolutely secret?
No leaks?
Indra mocked, "President, I hope you understand one thing."
"This matter was invited to me by you personally."
"However, before I could act, you did."
"And after you formulated what you thought was a very precise plan, you didn't tell me, but instead kept it secret from me."
"Since you don't trust me, you can solve this matter yourselves; there's no need to tell me."
"And from what I see, your easy capture of Mandarin proves he's not that cunning."
President seemed to get angry after hearing Indra's words, and said sternly, "Mr. Indra, this plan was the result of deliberations between our Department of Defense and the Shield Agency."
"It's a flawless plan."
"You shouldn't doubt it."
Listening to this, Matthew Ellis seemed very confident in his plan.
Indra chuckled lightly and asked, "If that's the case, why did you call me?"
Clearly, the President hadn't expected Indra to speak to him like this.
His tone became a bit more severe.
"Mr. Indra, I hope you understand that although you're a superhero, you still reside in Country."
"I don't think this is the attitude you should have towards me..."
Before Matthew Ellis finished his sentence, Indra hung up the phone.
Hapi glanced at Indra's indifferent expression in the rearview mirror and asked, "Can I ask who just called? Was it the boss?"
"Yes," Indra replied.
Hapi raised an eyebrow and said, "I thought as much."
"You know, I've only seen two people dare to hang up on the boss."
"One is you, and the other is Tony."
"To be honest, I also want to hang up on him once."
Lorna Dane glanced at Hapi and said, "But he won't call you."
Hapi sighed, "You shouldn't speak the truth."
