THEY BOTH ARRIVED SAFELY AT HIS MANSION. Levi asked one of the maids to assist her in cleaning up while he went to his room.
"Stay there," Levi said in a husky tone.
Celeste gulped. "Uhm, okay."
When Levi heard a knock on the door, he was dozing off in his office. Just as he was going to snap his fingers, he realized that his tattoo mark was missing. He had no choice but to walk, so he could open the door.
"What?" Levi asked to her.
Celeste frowned. "I don't know your name yet."
"You woke me up just to ask my name?" Levi sighed.
Celeste seemed charmed in his eyes. "Yes. What's your name?"
"Leviathan, but you can call me Levi," Levi replied, lightly tapping her forehead.
Celeste felt some pain. "You don't have to do that."
"Go take a rest," Levi said, slamming the door.
Celeste re-entered the living room, visibly taken aback. After finishing her breakfast, she dozed off, leaving Levi to struggle for adequate rest in the meantime. Without that familiar presence, he felt powerless. Determined, Levi decided to initiate a conversation with her.
"Hey, human," Levi said, gently touching her hair.
Celeste moved her head onto his hand, visibly more at ease as she drifted into thoughts of spending time alone.
"What's going on with that head of yours, hmm?" Levi asked, smiling.
Levi eventually dozed off after waiting for her to wake up. To Celeste's surprise, he was sitting beside her when she finally opened her eyes. Anxious, she realized her head was resting on his lap.
Celeste reached out, gently touching his face, and said, "Hey, wake up."
"Mhm," Levi mumbled.
Considering slapping him to wake him up, Celeste halted when he stopped her with his hand. Levi opened his eyes, shooting her an angry look.
Levi smirked, saying, "You're not going to wake me up that way, are you?"
Celeste folded her arms. "I don't like to be kept waiting."
After adjusting his attire, Levi grasped her hand, seemingly stopping time. Celeste, perplexed, discovered something glowing in her hand, wondering about what was happening.
"You've got something important to me," Levi declared.
Celeste pointed at her hand. "What is this tattoo?"
"I own it. I have no idea how that goddamn thing got to you," Levi confessed, touching his hair in defeat.
Curious, Celeste asked, "What are you?"
"Demon," Levi stated, looking at her.
Celeste laughed. "You don't look like a demon to me. Are you joking?"
"You are testing my patience. Stop spreading your pheromones as well," Levi said, breathing heavily.
Despite Levi's human appearance, Celeste realized she was dealing with a demon. She had thought he was too good to be true anyway. Unfazed, she didn't mind making him one of her assistants.
Celeste rose to her feet, pulling him up to gauge his height. Impressed, she decided to designate him as her bodyguard since he was taller than she had imagined.
She chuckled. "I think being a bodyguard will suit you."
Levi agreed. "Being your bodyguard doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. If you're close to me, I can use my powers."
As Celeste contemplated this arrangement, her phone rang, indicating a call from her secretary. She promptly answered to avoid a scolding.
"Yes, Gianne?" Celeste inquired.
"Madam, I've been looking for you. Where have you been?" Gianne scolded.
Celeste sighed. "I had a bit too much to drink yesterday. Dealing with a hangover."
"That's not an excuse for you to miss work," Gianne chided.
Celeste chuckled. "I'll be there in 30 minutes."
Ending the call, she held out her hand, and Levi assisted her in getting dressed.
Celeste examined herself in the mirror, satisfied with her outfit.
"It suits you well," Levi whispered in her ear.
Stepping back, Celeste responded, "You don't have to do that, but thank you."
Levi gently took her hand. "We can discuss the deal in your office. It's urgent for both of us."
As Celeste opened her eyes, the realization hit her that she would have to make some adjustments. After presenting her with a magical contract, Levi asked if she wanted to add anything further.
She specified, "You can only touch me when necessary. Furthermore, you need my permission."
"Got it. Is that all?" Levi asked, jotting down notes.
She nodded, saying, "Yes, Leviathan."
A knock on the door signaled Gianne's entrance.
"Madam, here are the documents for today," Gianne announced, eyeing Levi with curiosity.
Celeste covered her face, embarrassed. "I'll take care of that."
Gianne, concerned, asked, "Who is that? What is he doing in your office?" scrutinizing every detail.
Levi smiled at her. "I'm her bodyguard. Nice to meet you!"
"Since when did you hire a bodyguard without telling me?" Gianne pointed accusingly at Celeste.
Celeste explained, "It was urgent for some reason. He won't be a problem, so don't worry."
"Fine. I'll watch you closely, young man," Gianne said, giving Levi an intense look.
Levi nodded in response. Once Gianne left the office, they both let out a sigh of relief.
Levi chuckled, "Looks like your secretary is scary."
"It depends. She is helpful to me, especially at work." Celeste removed something from his lips.
Levi noticed her finger touching his lips. "Making a move already?"
"In your dreams, demon," Celeste said, playfully pinching him.
Astonished, Levi shook his head, realizing that this woman was unlike anyone he had met in the past.
He kept himself occupied while Celeste focused on her work, observing her seriousness through her expressive facial gestures.
As Levi browsed on his phone, he discovered something intriguing. "Celeste Devoux. The adoptive daughter of Syron Devoux, CEO of X&Y Corporation."
A smirk played on his lips as he continued to read, gaining more information about her.
"What is this that we have? I had no idea that you have three siblings. To be honest, they looked good. What gene does the Devoux family possess? Not surprising for a wealthy family that has been around for generations," Levi mused with a spark of interest.
"Are you stalking me, demon?" Celeste glanced at him.
Levi walked over to her. "If I'm going to be protecting you, I should be well-informed. Please refrain from calling me a devil in public."
"Okay," Celeste mumbled.
Being acquainted with the Devoux family kept Levi occupied. He observed that Valentino Devoux, the eldest and a business-minded individual, held 15% of the shares in X&Y Corporation.
'Obviously, he is the next heir of the company." Levi's thoughts.
Leonardo Devoux came next; he enjoyed painting and indulged in various artistic and musical endeavors. Preferring solitude over unrelated social events, he often spent his time in his room.
Last but not least, Zeniah Devoux was described as a wasteful individual who enjoyed socializing with friends and attending clubs and other activities. She didn't care about much else as long as she got what she wanted.
The main perk was that each of them had a black card with an unlimited balance, a clear indicator of their wealth.
"Are you done checking each of us?" Celeste stood in front of him.
Levi smirked, saying, "Ho ho. I'm only getting started. I'm going to the best part. YOU!"
"Here we go again," Celeste sighed.
