The day started normally for Ray. He trudging through the snow-logged sidewalk, to a student shop east of his dormitory. He robotically pulled a list from his pocket, as if rehearsed several times, before making his way to the book section. There, he skimmed through several bookshelves before finding 'Alfa's guide to further Computer study'. Turning the book around he winced when his eyes met the price tag of 85 dollars. He sighed thinking, "I have to start working overtime again for rent huh." Little did he know that he wouldn't need to worry about that anytime soon. He went to the cash register, fighting an internal conflict, before handing out a good chunk of his money. Even if he did get a fully funded tuition fee as a scholarship, living costs were still high and could barely be met by working a minimum-wage job. As he exited the store something terrible happened. Whether it was him brooding over the price of the book or his bad luck coming to haunt him like every other instance in his life, he was brutally rammed by a car as he crossed the sidewalk. His frail body rolled away like a ragdoll and flopped limply on the snow-covered surface. There he lay broken and spread-eagle, his lonely, miserable life coming to a close. The boy in question gave an internalized self-deprecating smirk as he thought to himself, 'Just when I make it, everything is taken away again in this shitty life of mine, If only I could have another chance, only if I could live again, it would make surviving this life worth the pain.' before succumbing to death's embrace.
