Ray's POV
As I slowly contemplated about steali... borrowing items which wouldn't derail the plot, a knock on my door interrupted my reverie. The voice of child called out to me, "Brother wake up and get ready, breakfast is prepared." It must've been Nero's sister... no my sister. Well it's time to eat. I got ready within minutes before going downstairs. I instinctually made my way towards the dining table. There sat an incredibly beautiful woman with typical westerner features with blonde hair and blue eyes, similar to my past appearance. Next to her sat a man who looked like a more mature version of me, minus the blue eyes, his eyes were red. In between them, was a young girl who looked like a miniature version of the woman apart from the eyes which are similar to the man's. It's my family. To me they were strangers yet for some reason I felt a surge of unknown emotions when I laid my eyes on them, love and protectiveness I assume. I was quickly broken out of my thoughts due to my mother "Dear, come quickly breakfast is getting cold and Daisy is getting hungry." Chided my mother. " Alright, alright matriarch you got it," I jokingly replied eliciting a chuckle from the man. The way we spoke felt so unnatural yet familiar to me. I quickly took a seat next to the petite girl next to me. "Brother did you sleep well?" asked my sister. "Yes, I did what about you Daisy?" I replied. I received an enthusiastic nod as a reply. Later on, she described her dream while she was asleep. As Ray I barely knew this little girl but I instantly swore to whoever oversees the universe, if anything dares to touch a strand of hair of this angel I will personally tear them apart. As I engaged in a conversation with Daisy my feeling of protectiveness only further intensified, maybe this is what it felt like having a sibling? We were quickly interrupted by my mother who served us breakfast, but not before scolding my father for being too immersed in the newspaper, It went like this, "Edmund Darkheart!." exclaimed my mother. My father gulped and meekly said, " Yes, Sophia."
My mother scathingly replied "Your kids are here yet not even a peep from your mouth? Moreover, stop burying your face into the paper every time before meals." Resignedly sighing, my father put away his paper, after all there was a saying, no matter how powerful men can be they cannot escape the wrath of their wives. We ate breakfast at a moderate pace, pancakes with assorted berries. From time to time we talked about things in general like news and what we were doing before breakfast. Overall a peaceful atmosphere. However, as the conversation flowed, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt as I felt that I deceived Nero's parents and took the place of their only son which they seemed to love a lot. I apologize, Nero, I may have taken your place but I swear to protect your family to the best of my ability. I don't know why but my heart felt a slight bit lighter.
