Daniel scoffed, his mind rejecting the absurdity of James's words. "You expect me to believe that my father, who I've never known, has left me a vast fortune? That's ridiculous!"
James's expression remained calm and sincere. "I understand this is a lot to take in, Daniel. But I assure you, this is the truth. Your father was a wealthy businessman who wanted to ensure your future was secure."
Daniel shook his head, his skepticism evident. "I don't believe you. This is some kind of scam, right? Well, I'm not buying it."
James sighed, his eyes filled with understanding. "I expected this reaction, Daniel. But I'm telling you the truth. Your father's estate, his businesses, his properties... they're all yours now."
Daniel stood up, his frustration boiling over. "I don't want to hear any more of this! Leave me alone!"
James nodded and handed Daniel a card. "My contact information, Daniel. When you're ready to listen, I'll be here to help you."
The next day, Daniel was working at the restaurant when his manager, Mr. Jenkins, called him into the office. "Daniel, you're consistently late and your work has been subpar. I'm afraid I have to let you go."
Daniel protested, his voice rising. "That's not fair! I've been working hard and I'm always on time!"
Mr. Jenkins sneered. "Don't lie to me, Daniel. You're a slacker and I'm tired of it. Get out!"
Daniel's anger boiled over. "This is ridiculous! I demand to see the owner!"
Mr. Jenkins laughed. "Good luck with that. You'll be lucky to get a reference from me."
Just then, James appeared in the doorway. "Ah, Mr. Jenkins. I see you're having a discussion with Daniel."
Mr. Jenkins's expression changed from anger to shock. "J-James... what are you doing here?"
James smiled. "I'm here to resolve this situation, Mr. Jenkins. Daniel, come with me."
As they left the office, Daniel saw the shock on Mr. Jenkins's face. "W-what's going on?" he asked James.
"Your father owned this restaurant chain, Daniel. And I'm here to ensure you receive the respect and position you deserve."
Daniel's mind raced as they walked back into the office. James revealed his identity to Mr. Jenkins, who looked like he had seen a ghost.
"Y-you're... you're the son of... of Mr. Smith?" Mr. Jenkins stuttered.
James nodded. "The same. And Daniel here is the new owner of this restaurant chain."
Mr. Jenkins's face turned white. "I... I had no idea. Please, Daniel, accept my apologies. I'll do anything to make it right."
Daniel's anger dissipated, replaced by a sense of wonder and awe. Maybe James was telling the truth. Maybe his life was about to change forever.
