The sun was eager to set, hiding gradually under the clouds. Birds were preparing to retire to their nests, the leaves on the trees in the woods had settled, some rustling gradually to the effects of the sun. Just few miles away from the stream Darius stood at a corner waiting patiently. Beside him were two guards, with a smile, he was eager to finish up what he had started.
"Alpha Darius?"
"Welcome, it's so good to see you Alpha Damian."
"Where is Alpha Owen? I got a message to meet him here."
"Not to worry Alpha Damian. He would join us shortly."
Damian stopped at the spot he was the moment he saw Darius standing with his two guards. He had been given a note by a messenger to meet up with Owen but getting there he met Darius. With a suspicious stare he scouted through the area in search of anything that could be endangering. Already the appearance of Darius sent another shivers down his spine.
"How come he requested we meet here? And how come you are here also?" Damian seemed really resistant to join Darius who was beckoning on him to join him, he seemed to see deeper than the lingering smirk of the Alpha and there was nothing more he wanted to do than to trade with caution.
"Ah Alpha Damian, I figured that we may have started off on a wrong foot and that is why I asked to see you and Alpha Owen so tht we could resolve our differences. I see how you aided my brother during his time and I would really love the same council."
Damian was still standing at the same spot, he had come alone because the message was said to have been sent by his trusted friend Owen, amidst the strangeness that accompanied the unusual choice of location for the meeting, he felt it was for a good reason.
"Very well Alpha Darius. I hope he doesn't make us linger in wait for so long, the sun is almost setting and I have quite a lot to attend to."
"Not to worry Alpha Damian, I am sure Alpha Owen would be joining us soon."
Damian took in a deep breath and walked over to where Darius stood. The two guards were standing like statues motionless and without much blinks, their heads covered with metal helmets and their right hands holding on to their sharp swords tucked inside their sheaths ready to draw blood.
"What do you think about my nephew? About him killing his father my brother?"
Damian breathed heavily for a moment, his eyeballs met those of Darius who glared at him with his shiny blue cold eyes smiling mischievously as he asked his questions. Damian realized that the Lycan Alpha wanted to get him to speak probably a trap set for him, he was mindful of his antiques and resisted saying so much.
"Well Alpha Darius, as much as we would want to serve justice for the cruel murder of my dearest friend; your brother, it would also be wise that Bruce be made to face trial and be judged in the rightful manner."
"Even when he seems to be very dangerous?"
"Well…well… I thi…" Damian stuttered in anxiety, he had always been known to speak up in the council but that was only when Owen was around. He was weaker and had no much defense around him. His Pack seemed to be the least strong in the council but William and Owen had always helped to sustain his position and the strength of his Pack thereby reinstating his Pack's position amongst the twelve council Packs.
"Alpha Damian, I believe we all want the same thing, which is to make sure that my brother rests well knowing fully that his killer be made to face the council and be punished accordingly but Bruce has proven to be far more dangerous than we expected. Killing him might be the only option we have since he has proven to be adamant to come face the council."
"How do you know that Alpha Darius? I was told he ran out from the Castle when the guards were sent after him and that no one truly knows his whereabouts."
"Well, news have it that he wanders in the woods."
Damian paused without a blink, he was getting uncomfortable with responding to the utterances of Darius. At intervals he looked found expecting that Owen was going to join them but he seemed not to be coming.
"Alpha Damian, is everything alright? You seem tensed."
"Oh no Alpha Darius, it's nothing. I am only concerned that Alpha Owen may be taking quite a long time to be here." Damian responded with a shaky voice still scouring the area.
"I see. Maybe we should get talking about the reason why we are here."
"That would be great Alpha Darius."
Darius smiled with a nod, he turned to his two guards one after the other and they bowed and left him standing alone with Damian.
"So Alpha Damian, I know you were so close to my brother as his trusted friend. I am sure he must have told you a lot regarding the Lycan Castle, especially the gold hidden."
"You are his brother, you should know better Alpha Darius." Damian's breath increased once again, he knew that William never trusted his brother and feared that he may someday rebel against him, this concern he shared with them including some detailed information about the gold. He was surprised that Darius suggested that he may know about the treasury.
"Alpha Damian, your body seems to be saying something different from what your mouth speaks. Are you alright." Darius asked as he looked all over Damian's shaky body. His hands seemed to be shivering and he bent his head avoiding eye contacts with him.
"Nothing Alpha Darius, nothing at all."
what do you know about the hidden treasury? I am sure that he must have told you something no matter how little."
"I know nothing Alpha Darius. Your brother told us a lot, except for the location of the treasury."
For a while Darius looked away from Damian smiling as though he had expected him to give him the same answer. Damian on the other hand stood still trying as much as possible to keep his body at a place.
"I believe you Alpha Damian. I know you wouldn't have any reasons to lie to me knowing fully well that it would be seen as an act of treachery! You know that it would really make me angry!" Darius glared at Damian still smiling. He stared at him with his piercing sight, his blue eyes shining as though he was about to reap him apart.
" I have no reason to lie Alpha Darius."
"Very well then. It seemed Alpha wouldn't be joining us. We may have to meet some other time."
"That would be great, thank you Alpha Darius I would be taking my leave now." Damian bowed slightly and started to walk away. With a sigh of great relief he let out the air he had held in his stomach while shivering before Darius, standing many inches away from his him. He fastened his pace with every step he took.
Damian was a stout Alpha who had no experience with war antiques. His Pack had enjoyed years of peace with no conflict until they faced a crisis from Rogue Werewolves which made him run to William for help.
"I had envisioned you would speak in the manner you did Alpha Damian, so I made preparations for something to motivate you a little."
Damian stopped immediately, his eyes bulging in wonder of what really Darius was up to. His heartbeat increased radically hitting against his chest uncontrollably.
"You may want to see the little package I have for you Alpha Damian." Darius said with a smirk folding his hands together.
Damian took in enough air and exhaled softly, then he gently turned to face Darius.
"Maya! Tristan! No! You can't do this Alpha Darius!"
"Oh I can Alpha Damian, I figured that bringing your beloved Luna and your young heir would be a proper way of motivating you to speak. You know Alpha Owen didn't quite get the same opportunity you are getting. Quite a pity he had to die in such a manner."
"No!" Damian said aloud, tears rolling down his cheeks gradually as he watched his Luna and his Heir being dragged dragged by the two guards, they were in chains; parts of their cloths were shattered and their bodies seemed to be smeared with dirt.
"I will tell you what I know! Please spare them." Damian pleaded as he looked into the eyes of his Luna and his heir. Their eyes showing signs of appeal to him not to let them die. His young Heir was really scared to his teeth and his Luna shaky was the sight of the infamous Darius.
"Where is the treasury?!" Darius barked with a fierce stare and a dee voice of impatience and viciousness.
"Hidden! It's hidden in the castle!"
"Where?!"
"There is a tunnel under a statue in the Alpha Chamber. The tunnel leads to an underground chamber where the treasury is locked with a key divided into two pieces!"
"Who has these keys?"
"I don't know please! I have told you all that I know. Spare my family please!" Damian pleaded as he knelt down running his palms against each other. His Luna held on to her son covering his eyes from the scary situation.
Darius paused for a while, then he smiled in partial satisfaction. He still wanted to know who had the keys to the treasury.
"Well, it seems I would have to let you go now. You can leave with your family."
"Thank you Alpha Darius! I promise no one would know about this." Damian stood up almost immediately and started to walk fast towards his family.
"Oh I intend to make sure of that Alpha Damian. No one needs to know." Darius signaled to the guards and they drew their swords immediately and slit the throats of the Luna and her son pushing their bodies to sprawl on the floor in their own pool of blood.
"Noooo! No! No! No!" Damian screamed in agony as he raised the lifeless body of his Luna whose eyes stared back at him as though she was questioning him for letting them die. Damian's eyes poured out tears of devastation and sorrow.
"You weren't completely useful Damian. Now I have to find out about the keys myself. Such a pity." Darius moved close to Damian who sat on the floor weeping and holding on to the lifeless bodies of his Luna and Heir. He seemed not to be worried of the presence of Darius.
"You know what to do." Darius said to the guards as Damian fell to the floor, his heart ripped from his chest and resting in the hand of Darius still beating. The guards dragged the three lifeless bodies and dumped them into the river while Darius walked away.
