Elena halted and bent her face as the guard approached from behind her. She had a little shiver as she tried to turn her face slightly to see the guard without him knowing.
"You dare not to turn."
"I am sorry, I was just going to the kitchen to prepare the Luna's meal."
"Oh I see, then permit me to have a bite before you go."
The guard was just an inch away from Elena and as he touched her shoulder slowly, she shivered with a startle. Her breath heightened from fear of what the guard's true intentions were.
"Pleases, I just want to do my duties, the Queen is waiting for me."
"Oh I won't take so much time, I am sure she can wait a little longer." The guard replied with a snicker. He tightened his firm hold on her and leaned forward towards her neck. Elena gasped sharply as the breath from nose lingered toward her.
Everyone who had ever met her had been so much interested in taking advantage of her. She was defenseless and wolfless and her petite body made her so vulnerable. She was a dazzling beauty but also a victim of vicious predators.
"Please let me go!" Elena said with a whimper still trying to get hold of herself but the guard persisted. Almost all the guards on duty had left with Darius and no other servant was in the Royal Chambers except Elena, she was the only servant that lived in the Royal Chambers.
"Oh oh, just a bite. You appear to have a good taste."
"Please! I beg you. The Luna may come in search of me soon!"
"Oh no! The Luna can't help you now, no one can. We are all alone now!" The guard replied with a hysterical laugh taking out part of her hair strands that were on her neck.
At the other end, Bruce continued to follow the scent sticking out his nose to know where it was coming from.
"I can scent her. Where is she?"
Keeping his steps quiet and his movements swift, Bruce moved from one pillar in the Royal Chambers to the next in search of Elena. As the scent lingered so did his steps fastening up with each persistence of the sweet sensational aroma he felt. His wolf kept on hampering to meet her in excitement. "Mate! Mate!"
"Oh no, we can't let her know. What if she rejects me? She probably thinks I killed my father. We must not let her know else we lose our chances of revenge." Bruce responded quietly to his wolf who kept on trying so much to meet with Elena.
"Where could she be?" There were several pillars in the Royal Chambers holding up several channels, rooms and passages in the Royal Chambers making it so difficult to locate Elena with ease.
The Royal Chambers was almost built like a maze. The first Lycans, the godlike creatures that were the original werewolves who gave birth to the other werewolves through their supernatural powers built the castle by imposing the work on Humans by compelling their minds.
Standing tall for centuries, the castle was hidden from the reach of humans with a powerful shield force.
Almost frustrated, Bruce stopped at a corner leaning on a pillar after fruitlessly searching for Elena for a while. Just then, he heard the voice of a shrill from a distance not far from where he stood. Listening carefully, he heard the voice of a female in panic.
"No! Let me go! Please!"
"Come back here! Come here!"
The soldier continued to run after Elena as she ran for her life panting through the passages in the Royal Chambers. No one except Bruce could hear her scream, not even Tala who was up in her Chambers.
"Save mate! Save mate!" Bruce's wolf screamed through his head almost pushing him to go after Elena following where the sound was coming from.
"Alright! Alright I am going!"
Just as Bruce made a move to go after Elena, she appeared from a corner through a passage and hit his body with a force panting frantically.
Elena almost jumped on Bruce but as soon as she looked up and saw that it was the same Alpha who had killed her father her fright heightened. She gasped nit sure if she was caught up with or save.
"Alpha Bruce. You are wanted by the council! We have been given strict orders to arrest you."
"I see! I guess trying to take advantage of a wolfless Omega is part of your duties." Bruce retorted with a smirk.
He gently moved Elena to his right and smiled at her.
"Stay here. Don't move!"
Elena looked at the young Alpha, the same Alpha who reaped her father's heart apart smile at her with so much assurance of her safety written all over his face. Standing at a corner, she watched the events unfold.
"I must arrest you Alpha Bruce. The Council demands you appear before them."
"And if I refuse?"
"Then I must attack. You have been declared Rogue!"
"Do what you must!" Bruce said to the guard watching him closely while still carefully keeping an eye on Elena who stood still at a corner with the upper part of her cloth almost ripped out.
The guard drew out his sword from its sheath and rushed at Bruce but he was no match for the brawny and indomitable Alpha whose roar was enough to send shivers down his spine. Bruce growled at him and in the midst of his suspense in air, he grabbed him by his neck and hit his head hard on the wall smashing his skull.
The soldier fell to the ground bleeding. Elena gasped at the gory sight of the guard, she made an attempt to run for fear of her life as Bruce stood like a mountain breathing so much fury but his sharp turn and stare from his crimson burning eyes froze her. Standing there looking up at Bruce she whimpered slowly.
"You are safe now." Bruce said with a calm but deep voice as soon as his fury was calm. He extended his hands towards Elena who was still panting and shivering but she moves two steps backwards, her eyes bulging from the sight of Bruce.
"I won't hurt you, I promise."
"Please don't hurt me." Elena said with a teary and shaky voice leaning on the wall behind her but Bruce only smiled and kept on reassuring her with his crimson eyes.
The Alpha was huge and had not cloths on his upper body displaying his lathe chest and chiseled albs. Elena knew that there was something that drew her closer to him apart from his beautiful eyes and his alluring body but she was just 17 and couldn't sense her mate plus she was still wolfless.
"I won't hurt you I promise!"
Bruce moves close to her and held on to her shoulders gently moving her close to himself.
"You are safe now!"
Elena couldn't believe that she has been saved by the same Alpha who reaped her father's heart out of his chest. Looking at him, she could clearly see the images of the dreaded day her Pack was attacked by the Lycan Pack. But she couldn't say a word, she feared that letting him go could make him kill her. Luckily for her, Bruce never saw her during the attack as she hid in a corner watching closely.
Bruce watched Elena regain her breath gradually and when he was sure that she was alright he smiled at her again with his deep stare.
"You saved me earlier. I didn't get to thank you."
"You didn't need to."
"Well, thank you. I wish I could repay you!"
"You just did." Elena said and looked at the lifeless body of the guard lying at a corner in a pool of blood. Bruce looked at the guard and smiled at Elena.
"Have you seen my mother? How is she?"
"The Luna has been lonely and sad. She misses you but has no way to reach you?"
"And my uncle?"
"He insists you killed your father and has refused to listen to the Luna's plea to solicit to the council on your behalf. He says you must face the punishment for your actions."
"You don't think I killed my father, do you?" Bruce looked at his mate who stood still looking at him without blinking. He hoped that even if any other person could believe he killed his father, Elena could be an exception.
"I think of nothing. I only think of the things I know." Elena replied and bent her face killing the long silence between them.
Bruce was a little disappointed the response he got and this made him so much not to want to tell Elena that she was his mate. "Mate hates us!" His mate said slowly with a saddened voice.
"I see. Well I hope to convince you about my innocence. I loved my father and would never think to hurt him. My uncle killed him and now I have to take the fall for his treachery."
Elena seemed not to be interested in the words that Bruce spoke. For a moment, she thought he deserved the fate that befell him. She looked away almost acting as though she was alone.
"I need your help, you have to help me!"
