THE SYSTEM I MADE
Chapter 17
"Freshman orientation at Valorwood Academy of Arcane Arts"
Alex lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, lost in thought. "My actual goal is to find a way to escape this 'game reality,'" he mused silently. "According to Aida, I'm logged inside the game Starforge Legacy, the very game I helped create with my colleagues. But so far, the original story seems altered. I don't recognize most of the characters or people here. Or maybe Aida was wrong, and I was actually reincarnated. Did I really die? What if I'm still alive somewhere?"
His thoughts drifted to his wife, and a pang of longing hit him hard. "I'm starting to feel regretful. Maybe I should have gone with my wife that Sunday instead of checking the system. I miss her with all my heart. I wish I could just see her smile again," he thought, feeling the ache of separation.
"For now, I'll trust Aida. Maybe I'm stuck inside the game, and if that's true, there's definitely a way to log out and return. But I don't know how. The only thing I have is Aida, the system I developed with Kevin. There has to be something hidden in the system, some clue. Kevin might have hidden something smart, I hope. For now, I'll have to play along, learn magic, and survive this world. I need to believe the way back is by completing the game and defeating the seven demon kings."
Alex sighed deeply, closing his eyes. "I really hope I can see my wife again, and beat that greedy bastard who assassinated me," he whispered to himself, determination mixing with sorrow as he drifted into sleep.
Alex stepped into the grand hall of Valorwood Academy, feeling a mix of anticipation and excitement. The room buzzed with the chatter of his fellow freshmen, all eager to begin their journey at the prestigious school. As he took his seat.
The hall gradually quieted down as Principal Thaddeus Hawke, a tall man with silver hair and piercing blue eyes, stepped onto the stage. He radiated an aura of wisdom and authority, instantly commanding the attention of the entire hall. Behind him stood the four council members: Councilor Elara Winters, Councilor Gideon Ashcroft, Councilor Lysandra Voss, and Councilor Roderick Stormrider.
"Welcome, new students, to Valorwood Academy of Arcane Arts," Principal Hawke began, his voice carrying easily across the hall. "You are now part of one of the most prestigious institutions in the realm, where we foster the growth of the finest mages and warriors. Today, we'll provide you with essential details about your education here, including subjects, ranks, and how you will progress through them."
Councilor Elara Winters, a woman with a graceful demeanor and an air of calm, stepped forward. "In your first year, you will be introduced to the fundamental aspects of magic and combat. Your subjects will include:
- Magical Theory and Spells
- Combat Training and Defense
- Alchemy and Potions
- Enchantments and Runes
- History of Magic
- Elemental Control
- Healing and Restoration Arts
"In your second year, you will dive deeper into these subjects and choose electives based on your interests and strengths. Third-year students will have advanced classes tailored to their specialization and preparatory courses for their future roles as mages."
Alex leaned forward, eager to learn about the specifics of the ranking system. Councilor Gideon Ashcroft, a robust man with a commanding presence, took the stage next.
"Our ranking system is designed to track your progress and achievements. The ranks are as follows: Freshman (F), Apprentice (A), Adept (AD), Skilled (S), Expert (E), Master (M), and Grandmaster (GM). To climb the ranks, you will need to earn points through various means," he continued.
Exams and Tests: Scoring high on exams will earn you points.
Practical Assignments: Demonstrating proficiency in practical tasks and spells.
Duel Competitions: Winning duels and sparring matches.
Achievements: Completing significant achievements or quests assigned by the academy.
"Did you hear about the ranking system? Apparently, Grandmasters get their own rooms and special meals!" whispered one student.
"Yeah, and the Masters too. They say the food in the cafeteria for top ranks is like a feast every day," another replied, wide-eyed.
Councilor Lysandra Voss, a woman with an intense gaze and sharp intellect, detailed the curriculum. "In your first year, the focus will be on building a strong foundation. Second-year students will refine their skills and start specializing in their chosen fields. By the third year, students are expected to master their specializations and prepare for their roles outside the academy."
First Year: Basics of all core subjects, introduction to practical applications, basic duels and combat training.
Second Year: Intermediate level subjects and electives, advanced practical assignments, specialized combat and magic techniques.
Third Year: Advanced subjects and specializations, preparation for final exams and certifications, real-world applications and internships.
Councilor Roderick Stormrider concluded, "Your journey here will be challenging, but it is designed to bring out the best in you. Strive for excellence in everything you do, and remember, the faculty and council are here to guide you every step of the way."
As the principal concluded his speech, he smiled warmly at the assembled freshmen. "Now, students, I encourage each of you to work hard and embrace the challenges that lie ahead. This academy has a long tradition of excellence, and I have no doubt that you will contribute to our legacy."
He glanced around the hall, making sure to catch the eye of as many students as possible. "Tonight, you should return to your dorms and rest. Your classes will begin tomorrow. In the morning, we will gather here once more to split you into your respective classes and provide further instructions. Additionally, rules and regulations papers are posted all over the walls of the freshman dorms, so please take the time to read them. It is crucial that you familiarize yourselves with our guidelines."
With a final nod, Principal Hawke dismissed the students. "That will be all for tonight. Make sure to get a good night's rest. I look forward to seeing you all bright and early tomorrow."
"Wow, this place is intense," Alex thought. "But it's exactly what I need to get stronger and find a way out of this world."
As he walked back to his dorm room, he overheard more conversations about the ranking system and the special privileges granted to those who excelled.
"I'm going to work hard and reach the top," Alex vowed silently. "For my future and to find a way back to my old life."
That night, as he lay in bed, his thoughts wandered back to his old life, his wife, and the mysterious circumstances that brought him here
