~________~

Andrew was inside the cockpit of the sword-wielding mech again, the opposition mech stood before him, including his teacher, the same grumpy stern-faced middle-aged man on a military suit.

Andrew didn't start immediately though, instead he made a request.

"Umm, system, please can my computer system be let access inside here?"

***

[Affirmative!]

[Deactivating active computer network to Mech Designer Lucius Volstad's personal computer!]

[Computer network disabled!]

[You now have access back to your computer system!]

***

Andrew's eyes widened. He finally confirmed that Lucius Volstad was really keeping tabs of his life daily, he was glad he was cautious.

Andrew was not scared that the boss would notice though.

To the boss, the connection would just disable for a moment and reconnect back, he likely won't even notice it.

This was because the world of his ultimate simulation system was a time-locked space. Time was not moving in the outside world.

With access to his computer system again, Andrew finally tried it.

At this moment, thinking of the fact that he already had access to multiple systems in the form of his robotic body system and his ultimate simulation system, he decided to give his body system a name.

"From today, I'll call you Coby".

{System name registered: Coby}

Andrew smiled. "Ok, Coby, simulate me the proper first attack to start with against this mech to give me an advantage over him".

{Simulation process started!}

Andrew was right, it worked!

If this was outside, his Camdragon G66 chipset processor was not powerful enough to make such a mech combat related simulation but in here, his ultimate simulation system completely waived the price to pay for each simulation.

Andrew was ecstatic.

In the simulation, Andrew saw his sword-wielding mech take a step to the left, before suddenly stopping, then dashing to the right.

It was a feint move.

With that move, confusing the enemy, the mech bent slightly before going for a low blow with its sword as the right leg of the enemy mech was cleanly sliced through, incapacitating the opposition in one blow.

{First proper attack sequence simulated successfully!}

"Yes!" Andrew pumped up his fists in excitement.

He just got a new way to train even more effectively.

Of course, he didn't just rely on his computer system's simulation, after all, his ultimate simulation system already enabled teacher mode.

This guy was bearing down on him again military-mode.

"Wrong!" His authoritative voice growled out again.

"Your intentions are right, but your execution is wrong".

"Back to the basics".

"There are 8 different basic attacking angles in sword fighting".

"These are straight down from the top, straight up from the bottom, diagonally down to the left, diagonally down to the right, diagonally up from the left, diagonally up from the right, and left and right strikes horizontally".

"These are the basics and essence of sword combat".

"Master these basics, and with time, you'll grow to become a master".

"Now, focus!"

"Swing right!"

"Yes, boss". Andrew acknowledged him.

No matter how much he wanted to hit this thing's head against the wall, in the end, he didn't respect him but he respected his wisdom very much.

His yearning to improve and get better pushed him to listen to his instructions.

These 30 minutes proved to be the best of his life so far. Andrew vividly felt his sword skills improve far better than before.

And finally, the simulation came to an end.

For the next few days, this is what Andrew would spend his time doing.

Spending 30 minutes every day in the simulated world of his system, he would prepare himself for Lucius Volstad's tests every day at 9:00am.

Of course, for the next few days, having told them to not hold back any longer, Lucius set up the stage for Andrew to suffer some of the most humiliating losses of his life. A weak-willed individual would have decided not to enter a mech again.

Andrew didn't think like this though, every loss made him more determined to get even better and it showed in his schedule.

From just this schedule, Andrew graduated to creating time for him to practice with a real sword during his free time.

This way, he accelerated his sword training.

After the first week of this schedule, Andrew finally managed to push the Spearman mech pilot back for the first time, managing to prolong their battle to almost 6 minutes for the very first time since the first day.

"Impressive!" Lucius Volstad was all smiles at the end of the test.

"Compared to the first day, you've improved a lot, good". Lucius Volstad smiled. "Your resume says you're a versatile mech pilot".

"Keep this growth rate up and I may upgrade your excitement soon".

Andrew looked at the mech designer excitedly.

"The day you manage to stall mech pilot Zigar for 10 minutes, I'll let you pilot a Rifleman mech again for the first time in over 6 months".

"I'll do it!" Andrew vowed.

For the next few days, he put even more effort into his training.

Putting even more hard work meant faster rewards. It happened first in the simulated world of his ultimate simulation system.

After such a long time of training, finally, Andrew prevailed over the sword-wielding mech that was pitted against him during the Sergeant's tests back in the Philadelphus police building to reconfirm his neural aptitude.

Andrew achieved this after approximately 2 weeks since his first test against the 5 mech pilots and mechs presented by Lucius Volstad.

Andrew trained 2 more days, and finally, he sent a message to the boss.

"Boss, you better prepare my reward".

"Tomorrow morning by 9, I will do it, I will defeat mech pilot Zigar".

Andrew didn't just want to stall for 10 minutes, he wanted to win.

The next day, by 8:00am, Andrew saw a virtual screen appear in his room of the hangar bay. His reward was already there, the 7th mech, a Rifleman mech, one of the staples of the Lucius Mech Company.

There was a caption below it.

~There's your reward, that's if you have what it takes to claim it~

Andrew grinned and went to clean his face with some water.

He was ready.

5 minutes to 9:00am, he left his room to the hangar bay.
