Chapter 57 - Gun-Sword

Ruby looked at Infernal Claymore. "No I don't want to fight that, I want the other weapon".

Oscar just looked at his team leader. "Alright".

He then lipted Infernal Claymore, as he puts on his back, as they heard a click, as it was metal parts was moved and sheath the Claymore, this Sheath was made by the help of Ruby, Oscar and there engineering professor, it was done so easily because of Oscar Artificer class, which the other two didn't know about and he kept that way, as then he Unsheathed Crimson Fang.

Ruby looked at Crimson Fang. "So that how the Fusion of Midnight Fang and Crimson trigger, a Beautiful Gun-Sword".

Oscar looked at as he spoke. "I mens I did say in day 1 I was trying to fuse these two weapon's".

Ruby's eyes gleamed with excitement as she examined the now fully-formed Crimson Fang. "It looks even better than I imagined! I mean, I knew you were working on it, but this is... this is amazing!" She practically bounced on her toes. "It's like the ultimate hybrid weapon. Sword and gun all in one! So cool!"

Oscar smiled at Ruby's enthusiasm. "Yeah, the fusion process took a bit of time, but it was worth it. The best of both worlds, and it's a lot more functional now."

Jaune, who was still catching his breath, raised an eyebrow. "A gun-sword... that's definitely something you don't see every day." He rubbed his shoulder, still sore from the sparring. "But I'm guessing it's not just for show, huh?"

Oscar gave Jaune a sly grin. "It's not just for show. Crimson Fang is fully capable of both close-range combat and long-range shots. But, uh, you're gonna have to be quick to keep up with it." He swung the blade around with ease, the gun portions of it shifting seamlessly. "The power's all about timing. Precision. You need both swordplay and marksmanship to make it work right."

Ruby stepped closer, clearly fascinated. "So, how do you, like, switch between sword mode and gun mode? Is it just... flip a switch or something?"

Oscar laughed and raised an eyebrow. "You could say that. But it's more about adjusting the handle and trigger assembly, depending on what you need. I've gotten used to switching between the two seamlessly, though. You could say it's a bit of... muscle memory."

Weiss, who had been quiet until now, finally spoke up, her arms crossed. "It's definitely impressive, Oscar. But I'm still trying to wrap my head around how you keep coming up with all these different weapons and techniques. I mean, first the Claymore, then the Crimson Fang... what's next? A sword that shoots lightning?"

Oscar gave her a playful grin. "You're not too far off. But for now, let's stick to what we've got. At least until the next upgrade." He chuckled softly to himself, his mind already racing through ideas. "You'd be surprised at how many combinations I can come up with."

Ruby, already excited about the possibilities, clapped her hands together. "Ooh, please tell me you're working on something new! What's next, Oscar? A weapon that can make food?!"

Oscar raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by Ruby's random suggestion. "Now that's an interesting idea... maybe a weapon that could double as a cooking tool. Might be useful when we're on long missions." He shot a wink at Ruby.

Jaune just shook his head with a grin. "I think at this point, you can make anything, Oscar. Just... maybe don't blow anything up while you're at it."

Oscar gave a mock salute. "No promises, Jaune."

With the new weapon in hand, the training room suddenly felt a lot more intense. The rest of the teams watched, captivated by Oscar's ingenuity and the raw power of Crimson Fang.

Jaune then realised something. "Now that I think about, did anyone question why everyone's weapon is a Weapon + Gun, like eveyrr Hunters, and even the students of all the Hunter school".

Oscar paused for a moment as Jaune's words sank in. "Huh, you know, now that you mention it..." He looked around at the various weapons in the room, from Ruby's Scythe that could transform into a high-powered sniper rifle to Weiss's Mythril Rapier, which could switch between melee and gun functions. "I guess we all do have these weapon combos, don't we?"

Blake, who had been quietly listening, tilted her head slightly, considering Jaune's point. "It's true. It's almost like a standard for hunters to have some form of ranged combat capability in their weapons. Even the instructors at Beacon... most of them are carrying dual-purpose weapons too."

Ruby beamed with enthusiasm. "Well, we are hunters—we need to be prepared for any situation! If you're in the middle of a fight and you run out of ammo or your enemy's just out of reach, you need something versatile. A weapon that can do both is just smart, right?"

Weiss raised an eyebrow, looking a bit thoughtful. "But it's not just about versatility, is it? There's a deeper purpose to having those kinds of weapons. It's about efficiency. You don't waste time switching between a gun and a sword when they can be combined into one fluid motion. It also allows for more creativity in combat."

Jaune scratched his head, still trying to wrap his mind around it. "Yeah, but I can't help but wonder... who decided that all weapons in this world should have a gun function? I mean, that's a lot of firepower in one design. And it's not like it's just a coincidence, right?"

Oscar shrugged casually. "Maybe it's something to do with the nature of being a Hunter. We're not just fighting grimm; we're out there on missions, in all sorts of dangerous situations. It's all about making sure we have the edge in any combat scenario. A sword is great for close combat, but a gun—especially one that can transform—gives you more options. It's efficiency in design."

Ruby pumped her fist. "It's like super efficiency! We've gotta be able to handle all kinds of monsters and threats at once. But honestly, I never thought about it that deeply before. It just felt... natural?"

Jaune nodded, still trying to come to terms with it all. "Yeah, I guess when you put it that way... but it's still kind of crazy how everyone has these weapon-gun hybrids. We're all running around with literal weapons of mass destruction strapped to our backs."

Blake spoke up, her voice thoughtful. "The idea of efficiency isn't just limited to weapons. It's something we have to keep in mind as Hunters too. Efficiency in decision-making, combat strategy, teamwork..." She glanced around at everyone in the room. "Everything works best when we can make the best use of all our resources, both in terms of weapons and our individual skills."

Weiss sighed softly, then smirked, clearly amused by the thought. "Maybe we should get Oscar to design a new kind of weapon for us—something that combines every element. A weapon that can switch between every single fighting style imaginable—maybe even cook us dinner while we're at it."

Oscar chuckled at the suggestion, rubbing the back of his neck. "I mean, you're not entirely wrong. Who knows? Maybe next time I make something, I'll try to add a bit of everything."

Jaune laughed, still a little incredulous. "Yeah, just don't make us all too overpowered. We still need to feel like we're earning our victories, you know?"

Oscar grinned. "I promise, no world-ending weapons... for now."

Oscar then went to seat next Blake, as he saw Yang and Weiss go down to train as well, as Blake them looked at Oscar.

Blake them wishper to Oscar. "Random Question, but um can your system see other people's level".

Oscar looked at her as he spoke in wishper back. "Yes, You are level 25, Ruby is level 23, Yang is Level 26, Weiss is Level 24, Jaune is Level 20, Ren and Nora are both level 26, and Pyrrha is level 40".

Blake then spoke as she looked at him. "And you are level 50".

Oscar them corrected her. "Correction I am Level 56, thanks to yesterday Dungeon I told you about".

Blake then spoke. "Quick question but does anyone but me know that you have a system".

Oscar looked at her as he spoke. "No but I think Yang, is getting to close to figuring it out, she yesterday over heard us".

Blake sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "That's… not great. You do realize that if Yang gets suspicious enough, she will pester you until you crack, right?"

Oscar chuckled nervously. "Yeah, I know. That's why I've been trying to steer the conversation away whenever she asks too many questions."

Blake gave him a deadpan stare. "Oscar, you're talking about Yang. She's not just going to drop it. And if she finds out, she'll definitely tell Ruby."

Oscar groaned, leaning back against the bench. "Great, so I have a limited amount of time before Yang inevitably drags the truth out of me."

Blake smirked slightly. "Pretty much."

They both turned their attention back to the training area, where Yang and Weiss were sparring. Yang's punches were fast and powerful, but Weiss was quick on her feet, dodging and countering with precise rapier strikes.

Oscar then whispered again, "By the way, you really need to train more, Blake. Level 25 is kinda low."

Blake shot him a glare. "I am training. And besides, I fight with skill, not just raw stats."

Oscar smirked. "Yeah, but what happens when a Level 50 Grimm shows up? You might want to start grinding XP."

Blake just sighed. "Great. Now you sound like a gamer."

Oscar grinned. "Well, I do have a system, after all."

Blake then looked at Oscar, as she spoken. "Now important Question, how are you Unsheathing That Clay More"

Oscar then looked at his Infernal Claymore. "Will you see".

He takes of the Claymore as Blake see the sheat, as then she saw Oscar lipt the handle, as she can then hear a click, as then the seath top half splits in half and folded to the Left and Right, as Oscar pulled out the Infernal Claymore, as he put back and it unfolded it self back and it like the was no split

Oscar looked at as he spoke. "Neet right, Ruby helped me make, her and our engineering professor".

Blake raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed by the mechanism. "That... is pretty clever. A sheath that folds and unfolds like that is so much more practical, especially considering how massive that Claymore is. And Ruby helped with this?"

Oscar nodded. "Yeah, I mean, we all know Ruby has a talent for mechanics. She came up with the basic design, and I added my little tech touch. It wasn't that hard, especially with my Artificer skills."

Blake couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. "I'll give you credit, that's definitely something I haven't seen before. You're full of surprises, Oscar."

Oscar grinned. "You have no idea. Just wait until you see what I'm planning next."

Blake chuckled quietly. "At this rate, you'll be inventing all sorts of crazy tech, and we'll never know what's real and what's just a system upgrade."

Oscar smirked, eyes glinting with the excitement of potential projects. "Maybe. But hey, it's all about making life easier, right?"

Blake leaned back, her tail twitching slightly. "I guess. Just... try not to break anything too important, alright?"

Oscar laughed, giving a mock salute. "I'll try, but no promises!"

Blake then spoke. "And you know here I through you were just pulling it out".

Oscar just looked at her with deadpan face, as he tryed what Blake said, as he wasn't able to pull it out, no matter how hard he tryed. "Tell me how that will even realistically, for me to pull out normal it had too be on my waste, where Crimson Fang is".

Blake then spoke. "In my defence, we all break that laws of everything when fighting Grimm".

Oscar couldn't help but chuckle at Blake's response, shaking his head. "Fair point, I guess we all bend reality a little when we're dealing with Grimm." He paused, still holding the handle of the Infernal Claymore, struggling to pull it free without the convenient mechanism. "But seriously, how am I supposed to pull this thing out like a normal sword without looking like I'm trying to wrestle with it?"

Blake smirked, her cat-like eyes glinting. "I mean, you are trying to pull out a sword that's practically bigger than you. Maybe it's less about 'normal' and more about... the show."

Oscar sighed dramatically, lifting the sword again in mock defeat. "You're telling me the key to being a badass with this thing is just putting on a show? I might as well just start swinging it around without any grace and see what happens."

Blake raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Well, at least it'll be entertaining when you inevitably knock someone over with the sheer size of it."

Oscar snorted, raising the Infernal Claymore one more time to give it another attempt. "I think the bigger question here is, when does grace even matter when you're fighting monsters?" He glanced at her, grinning. "In the end, we're all just doing our best to survive out there."

Blake chuckled, giving him a knowing look. "True, but you might want to work on your 'dramatic entrance' next time. Or, you know, leave the theatrics to Ruby."

Oscar smirked. "Maybe I'll leave the theatrics to Ruby, but you can't deny—there's something satisfying about pulling out a massive sword like this. It's just... epic."

Blake sighed, though the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her amusement. "If you say so, Oscar. But please, for the love of all things holy, don't try to do this mid-battle."
