Axel listened without looking at the woman who approached, without saying anything because he wasn't a man who pursued romantic relationships. He didn't shy away from love, but he didn't pursue it either. Axel's real age was close to fifty, and as an inexperienced man, he wasn't easily swayed.
The woman, realizing she couldn't arouse Axel's interest, became uncomfortable. Maxwell thought that Axel did the right thing because it was impossible to have a relationship with her. Axel wasn't a man to give false hope for the sake of amusement. He didn't mind being seen as a bad guy, but he didn't want to become one by these means.
The unhappy women left.
When Axel took the driver's seat, Maxwell sat beside him as usual. This time Felix joined them instead of sitting in the RV. Felix sometimes addressed Axel that way. At first it bothered Axel, but he got used to it because "Axe" was his weapon and it was one letter different from his name. He had already acquired several nicknames. Axe was one of the most famous among vampires. Axel had taken many lives with his axe.
"Hey Axe, how much time do we have?" Felix sometimes spoke to Axel like that. Axel was annoyed at first, but he got used to it because 'Axe' was his weapon and it was one letter different from his name. He had acquired several nicknames before. Axe was one of the most famous among vampires. Axel had taken many lives with his axe.
"Not much longer, Felix," Axel replied, feeling bored. He enjoyed the ride, but after a while the driving became boring.
Meanwhile, Maxwell read his book in silence. He enjoyed reading because it made him feel like a normal person.
As they drove along the road surrounded by tall trees, they soon noticed that the road was blocked by a fallen tree. Axel observed the fallen tree carefully and realized that it had been done on purpose. It was a trap.
Axel didn't think that this trap was meant for vampires, because vampires could move faster than a car, so setting up such a trap seemed nonsensical.
Looking around, Axel noticed something behind the trees and went towards it. Although nothing was visible, the smell was strong. He recognized it as the smell of gasoline.
While Axel walked towards the source of the smell, Felix left his painting and followed. After about two minutes of walking, they spotted an old model Cadillac hidden behind the trees. The door was missing. Axel examined the car and concluded that the door had been forcibly broken.
Inside the car, the owner had left his belongings. Axel could tell from the items inside that the owner was a woman. Axel took the woman's perfume and decided to investigate what had happened. He didn't think the woman was alive, but he was curious about what had happened. It didn't seem like a typical vampire job. Axel had seen a lot of vampire murders at that age.
Maxwell looked around while Felix waited for Axel to speak.
After Axel had finished, Felix remembered that he hadn't locked the door. "No, I didn't feel the need to since we're here."
"I want to see what happened here. Lock the RV door and come," Axel said before Felix returned within two minutes.
"I hid the RV much like this car to protect us from thugs, Axe." Felix handed them both guns. He offered one to Maxwell. "Hey old man, take this; it won't be easy for an old man like you to fight." Felix tried to provoke Maxwell.
Although Maxwell looked angry, he knew that Felix was just teasing him. However, he also knew that if he didn't look angry, Felix would continue to tease him all day.
Felix handed Maxwell the magazine and Maxwell put it in his pocket. Axel had always instructed them to carry these guns for safety. Although the weapons couldn't kill a vampire, they were powerful enough to pierce their bodies, giving them a significant advantage. Axel had also modified their belts to carry these weapons.
Felix was supposed to bring Axel's axes, but when he couldn't find them in the RV, he realized that Axel had taken them. Seeing this, Maxwell and Felix put their weapons in their special belts. Axel hadn't taken out his axes yet. Seeing this, the other two followed suit.
Axel watched as Felix picked up his axes, then picked one up himself. Seeing this, Maxwell and Felix took out their weapons. Axel had modified their belts to carry these weapons.
Axel walked next to Felix, who had joined him, while Maxwell kept an eye on the back. It was their usual tactic. As they walked a bit further, they picked up other scents, some of which resembled human scents, while others smelled like rotting flesh.
After a short distance, they found a bear carcass. It was obvious that whatever had killed the bear hadn't done it for food. It didn't resemble the style of a werewolf or vampire. The bear had been torn into two pieces, indicating that it had been dead for about a week.
Having seen many deaths before, they knew how to determine the time of death. The smell bothered them, so they quickly left the area. Axel felt that dangerous things were happening here, so he picked up one of his axes in his right hand.
