Chapter 1 - Prologue

Let's start at the beginning: our main character was born into a world ruled by magical abilities that only fifteen percent of the population gain. These skills are random, which means that no matter how powerful a parent is, their child might not get any skills at all, or might get something completely different from them. But let us talk about the more interesting part of this world, which is the division into three sides. The first side you can choose is to be a hero, a supposedly 'good' person whose job it is to save civilians and stop any villains. Heroes are usually people who are greedy for fame and money, but that doesn't mean they're all the same, surprisingly there were true heroes among the greedy, but they were rare. The other side that you can choose, or rather that will be ascribed to you if your abilities seem sinister, is the side of the villains, who, as the name suggests, deal with terrorising ordinary people and wreaking havoc. Most of the villains are simply people who have not entered the norms of this world. People who have been thrown into this side usually want to take revenge on the heroes for their unfair treatment. But less so, since I mentioned that the majority of the heroes are bad people? Then you won't be surprised when I tell you that some of the villains also save people when they are inadvertently caught up in their mayhem, but are still seen by ordinary people as something to be eliminated. The last side worth mentioning is that of the ordinary people, who may also have powers but are too weak or useless in battle; most people on this side worship heroes who pretend to be archangels in front of the camera just to lick the helpless public. Unfortunately, I cannot say much about this side, as most of them have normal jobs and lives without an ounce of excitement. As you can see, this world is full of corruption and deceit, which may unfortunately lead to its downfall in the future. Now on to the powers and how they work, as you may have read more than once above these powers have been referred to as 'abilities'. These abilities appeared in the world a few hundred years ago for some unknown reason, the scientists of this world are still trying to find out something about it, but unfortunately they got stuck because none of their theories turned out to be true, but apart from that, as I mentioned, the powers that suddenly appeared in the beginning worked like magic, thanks to which people could use it like an aura, for example to shield a weapon or themselves. Over the years, this magic has evolved and improved, and so today we have these abilities, which are divided into elements associated with nature, such as fire, which is most often associated with strength, wind, which is associated with agility, water, which is associated with intelligence, and earth, which is associated with endurance. Of course, these elements can be combined in pairs to form new subtypes, but if by some miracle all the elements come together, the result is the element of darkness, which is why there are villains, or so heroes and civilians think. The Dark Elemental is, despite appearances, the most powerful elemental to obtain, but unfortunately it is also the most hated because of the abilities it gives to humans, most of the powers associated with it being associated with creatures from myth and legend. Each element has a certain percentage chance of appearing, but the element of darkness is so rare that it's sad, especially as the abilities you get from it take longer to develop and are terribly weak at the start, which is why most people give up and don't train them until the very end. Now that we've discussed how the world works, it's probably time to tell you a few things about our main character. He was born into a good family, his parents were both high-ranking heroes, but when our main character turned eight, tragedy struck. His parents were killed in a battle with a powerful villain, but fortunately they managed to take the villain with them into the afterlife. When the boy heard the news, he didn't know what to do, although he knew that death was part of the job, he never wanted it to happen to his parents, a situation made worse by the fact that his ability had only just emerged, and it was an ability associated with darkness. He knew that his life would be full of trials and it would not be easy, but as long as he had his parents' money he could live in his family home, unfortunately the situation changed when at the age of fifteen the money to pay the bills ran out and he had no way of earning such a sum, so the only thing he could do was to leave his house where he had lived with his parents until a few years ago. The lack of money left him with no choice but to steal, but this changed when he saw his own face on the news one day, which he found strange as he had committed no more serious crime than stealing. Of course, during those seven years, he trained his skill called 'Vampirism', which at first seemed weak and useless, but as the years went by he realised how wrong he was, the longer he trained it, the more powerful it seemed to him, his peers with other skills were no match for him, but this is not the time for that information. One day after the incident, he went to the police station to be questioned, where he met a detective who was kind and fair to him, which was rare for villains to be treated that way. The detective had an ability related to the elements of water and wind, which gave him eyes that could see through any lie and allowed him to see from a great distance. The boy saw no point in lying and said that he had nothing to do with the incident that had been on the news two days before, the detective looked at him for a moment and then smiled and told the boy not to be afraid because he believed his words, the boy was surprised that the detective believed him even though he knew he had a dark ability. Fortunately, the police quickly caught the real criminal and cleared the name of the fifteen-year-old, who owed a debt of gratitude to this kind detective. As the years went by, he and the detective became friends, going out for drinks or just to talk, and during those five years they became so close that the detective even gave him a copy of his house key, telling him to visit him when he was depressed or needed someone to talk to. The feelings he had for the detective became more and more certain with each passing year, but he didn't want to lose the only friend he had ever made because of an affection that might not be reciprocated for any number of reasons. Unfortunately, everything comes to an end, when he turned twenty-three, the detective disappeared after their last meeting, which devastated him as much as the loss of his parents, he searched everywhere for information about his detective, but could not find anything, as if someone had removed all information about him, especially since he had no living relatives, which made the search for the truth even more difficult, he asked himself many questions why he suddenly disappeared, but nothing reasonable came to his mind, after all, he was not the type of person who would disappear without a word. After the disappearance of his friend, the villain continued to do what he usually did, which was to play Robin Hood, but this time he had to find a replacement for the detective, so he chose a man from the same side as himself, with whom he had worked several times in the past. Their collaboration lasted for two years and unfortunately ended in betrayal, as it turned out that he was being bribed by the hero who was following him every step of the way. Who would have thought that the most dangerous villain, nicknamed 'Dracula', would be killed by a poor side character who worked with his arch-enemy 'Savoir', who possesses the elements of wind and fire, making him a specialist in stealth and infiltration. We'll talk about his abilities another time, as I don't want to bore anyone with a diagram of what each element does when combined with the other. Now that we have all the necessary information behind us, we can get on with the main story, which is only just beginning.
