When our protagonist regained consciousness, he immediately knew that as soon as he opened his eyes he would see the afterlife, not necessarily the good kind, but he was not surprised, after all he had blood on his hands, no matter if all these people deserved such a fate. But instead of the hell he had expected, he saw the most ordinary white ceiling, and as he looked around he realised that by some miracle he had managed to survive, but what on earth was he doing in a medieval bedroom. He thought of every possible situation that would give him the right result, unfortunately nothing worked out, in the end he should have died, after all he had forgotten that he needed to drink blood to activate the regeneration skill, unfortunately he had neglected this for the last two years, which caused his downfall. When he got up enough to sit down, it was only then that he realised something was wrong, opposite the bed he was now sitting on he saw a mirror about two metres high, but he saw nothing in its reflection except the clothes he was wearing, they also looked like they had come from the Middle Ages, but that did not surprise him. When he looked into the mirror, he saw that the figure, or rather the clothes, reflected in it were the size of a child, which didn't make the slightest sense to him, but when he looked at his own hands, he guessed what might have happened to him.
|| Don't tell me that by some miracle I've become the victim of a transfer to another dimension.... The only good thing about this situation is that I still have my abilities. ||
Unfortunately, just by looking at his hands, he could not tell exactly how old the body he woke up in was. He is also in a problematic situation because he has found himself in a world he knows nothing about, just as he is now in a building with strangers. Before deciding to leave his room, he decided to test his ability to see if there were any people around. Closing his eyes and concentrating on his surroundings, the boy could easily see that the building was full of life, which reassured him a little. Unfortunately, the silence didn't last long, for someone was coming towards his room, and he was in such a panic that he couldn't move. An elderly maid came into the boy's room to change the curtains in his room, but as soon as she saw the boy sitting on the bed, tears slowly gathered in her eyes, they were tears of happiness, how do I know? Because after a while she slowly walked over to the boy who was sitting on the bed and gently embraced him, as if she was afraid of hurting him. The boy was confused, but after a moment he returned the hug, suspecting that the woman before him was someone important to the previous owner of the body he was now in. Once the maid had calmed down a little, she sat down next to the boy and held his hands with a worried expression on her face.
|| Forgive my tactlessness, but you don't know how happy I am, I always knew you would wake up. I knew we couldn't trust that man who called himself a doctor. ||
|| ....Where am I? ||
The elderly woman was slightly startled by the question, but tried to answer as calmly as possible.
|| You are at home, just in your room. So you don't have to worry, because nothing is going to threaten you here. ||
said the maid with trembling hands, looking as if she were about to cry again. The boy, seeing the older woman's face filled with sadness and worry, could only lower his eyes to the trembling hands of the woman sitting in front of him. It was only then that the maid realised that the boy in front of her had probably lost his memory completely, and as she thought about it, tears began to flow from her eyes again.
|| Forgive me, it's all my fault.... If only I had been there for you when you needed me. ||
The woman was crying, holding the boy's little hands, apologising all the time, probably blaming herself for his lack of memory. The protagonist tried to calm her down, but unfortunately he did not know what to say in such a situation. Before he could say anything, another person entered his room. The newcomer was a tall man with raven black hair and deep lilac eyes. The seated young man was impressed, for the man standing at the door looked like a model. The man approached the boy and he too embraced him, but this time it was a tighter embrace, though shorter than the previous one. The maid left the boy's room with a sad smile, leaving them to talk in peace. After the hug, the man sat down on the edge of the bed and, smiling softly, placed his hand on the boy's head.
|| I'm so glad you've woken up. You've given us all a fright these past two months. ||
|| I was unconscious for two months? ||
|| That's right, but the important thing is that you're out of danger. Tomorrow a specialist will come and examine you to make sure everything is all right with your body. ||
|| ....I don't mean to be rude, but who are you? ||
The man was stunned when he heard the boy's words, praying in his soul that he had only misheard, but unfortunately he soon realised that it was no joke, judging by the expression on the boy's face. The only thing he could do in this situation was to calm down and answer the boy's every question.
|| My name is William Ulbrecht and I am your parent. ||
The young man was shocked by these words, especially as the man in front of him looked to be barely in his thirties, not to mention better looking than his father from his previous life. He couldn't believe that this time he had been given a second chance to protect his family.
|| In that case, what is my name? ||
|| Your name is Vincent Ulbrecht and you are thirteen years old. ||
|| I'm younger than I thought.... ||
William laughed softly at these words, he was glad to see that even with the lack of memories he still acted the same, at least at times like this. Vincent could not waste this opportunity and questioned William about everything that would come in handy later on, luckily he had a cool parent who explained everything in a simple way and even told him various stories from the past when the protagonist was still a small child. Most of these tales from the past made the boy hide under the blanket out of shame, and even if they were not about him, but about the original owner, he could not help but feel embarrassed. Aside from his embarrassing past, he also learned a lot of interesting information about the dimension he was in. He learned that they were now in the city of Lostfall, the capital of the Kingdom of Suneval, and that the planet they were on was not called 'Earth' but 'Pandora'. Vincent doesn't know if he should be happy about living in a fantasy world full of dangerous creatures and monsters, but on the other hand, he can't wait to find out more about it. There are also dungeons here, with various traps and riches guarded by monsters, but practically nothing is known about these underground structures, apart from the information that they are dangerous. Returning to more interesting matters, the family Vincent finds himself in is one of the four great families that serve the kingdom, as well as a member of the royal family. While the Ulbrecht family are highly skilled in battle and strategy, probably the best of the other great noble families, they are unfortunately rumoured to have the blood of non-humans running through their veins. Because of this reputation, the Ulbrechts have been nicknamed 'the cursed family'. Having learned all he could from his father, he decided to spend the rest of the day alone. An hour after William had left, the boy got out of bed and walked over to the mirror where, as before, only the floating clothes could be seen, only now he realised that in his previous life he had been able to see his reflection, so the only explanation would be that his ability had somehow miraculously become stronger or mutated. Fortunately, he could still stand in the sunlight, so he didn't have to worry about his stupid death by sunburn. Not knowing what to do next, he decided to get dressed and quickly look for some books, after all, this was a fantasy style world, so there should be something like a library in this building. As soon as he was dressed, he left his room and went ahead, where he met a servant who showed him the way to the library. The way from his room to the library was not long, it took only five minutes, it was relatively close, once he was inside he was positively surprised by the number of books of different genres, but he had come here to find a book about monsters, plants and history. Having found everything he needed, he quickly went back to his room to read them, starting with plants. He read the botanical book, jotting down notes in a blank notebook he found on the desk in his room. He skimmed through the chapters, noting only the plants needed to make medicines and poisons that might be useful in the future. The next book he looked at was the Encyclopaedia of Monsters, which he opened to the page dedicated to vampires and the like, to see if he had the same weaknesses as the book described or not. After all, he's not a real vampire, so later on he'll want to experiment a bit to see if these weaknesses of the real vampires of this world will work on him. After writing down everything he could use for later, he reached for the last book, which was the history of the creation of the kingdom he lives in; it was a cartoon version, looking like a children's story, but based on real events. Before he knew it, it was dark outside the window, which meant it was high time to get ready for bed. The night passed quickly and before he knew it, it was light outside the window and the birds were singing sweet melodies. Today was the day when a professional doctor would come to examine the boy. The protagonist was not too worried, the worst that could happen was that the doctor would discover that the boy had no reflection in the mirror, fortunately this could be easily prevented by covering the mirror with a simple piece of cloth. The doctor arrived after breakfast, introduced himself as Terrance Alston and proceeded to do all the basic tests such as measuring, weighing, checking eyes and ears. All the tests took just over an hour. After the tests, the doctor approached William with the results and told him that apart from the memory loss, the boy was fine.
|| Everything will be fine, but I would advise you to keep an eye on the boy for a while to make sure he doesn't accidentally hurt himself. ||
|| Thank you for agreeing to the research and no need for the doctor to worry, I will keep an eye on him. ||
While William talked to the doctor, Vincent wondered if the doctor's light blue hair was natural, as it went surprisingly well with the emerald green eyes. If people in this world really did have hair that coloured, he could say that it would be an interesting experience. It wasn't long before the doctor bowed and left, leaving Vincent to approach William and ask him a strange question.
|| Dad, what colour are my hair and eyes? ||
William was confused for a moment, but then he realised that he was probably trying to find out what the colours were called. After all, Vincent had lost his memory, so it was logical that he would not remember the names of the different colours.
|| Your hair is black, the same shade as mine, and your eyes are blue as the sky. ||
|| Thank you for the clarification. ||
|| No problem. ||
William was telling the truth, Vincent had hair as dark as coal and eyes as blue as a sunny sky, but they turned blood red when he was angry or using his abilities. He had a pale complexion and a slim build, slightly shorter than his peers, his hair short and neatly trimmed.
// It's a shame I can't see my reflection, but looking at my dad, I don't have to worry too much about my appearance. //
