Chapter 3 - Unexpected encounter 1

It had only been two hours since Vincent had seen the doctor. Since he had nothing more interesting to do, he decided to take some interesting books from the library that he had not been able to read the day before and went to the garden. The garden was spacious, filled with beautiful and colorful flowers and fruit trees, and in the middle was a white marble fountain. The boy decided to sit and read under a large apple tree, which was surprisingly tall and had a wide trunk, so the boy could lean against it easily. The weather was beautiful today, not a single gray cloud in the sky, but it was surprisingly warm, so the ancient tree was perfect as it provided pleasant shade. Looking at a small pile of books, Vincent pulled out a certain book that caught his attention, it was a book titled 'Legend of the Kingdom of Suneval'. It was a legend of the kingdom, but in a cartoon version made especially for children and teenagers. In it, you can see and read how the first king met a golden dragon who gave the royal family his blessing, so that each member of the family was born with extraordinary strength, talent for swordplay, and immunity to poisons and diseases. The whole story seemed false, but the protagonist was in a world full of danger, so no matter how implausible it seemed, he could not afford to apply the standards of his previous life. Occasionally an elderly maid would walk through the garden to make sure everything was okay, this is the same woman who first entered the protagonist's room, her name was Hely and it turned out that she was something like a nanny when Vincent was young. The maid treats the boy as if he were her own child, so the young man decided to treat the maid with respect and not cause her any problems.

// I had forgotten that guests were scheduled to arrive at my dad's residence today, which would explain the lack of service in the corridors. //

Thought the boy, then he continued reading, this time an academic book that he didn't have to read, but he was curious about the level of knowledge in this world. While he was reading, he didn't even notice that there was a boy standing in front of him who was a little older, maybe a year older than the protagonist.

|| Why are you reading the materials required for admission to the Academy? You have plenty of time for that. ||

Vincent jumped up gently, then lifted his face from the book and looked at the boy standing in front of him, who had short hair the color of ripe wheat and eyes the color of lime honey. The mysterious young man had a friendly smile on his face. Vincent was confused, he didn't know what to say, after all he had no idea if the previous owner of the body knew this boy. Fortunately, he has a good explanation, after all, he has been diagnosed with amnesia, so even if he asks for the name, they can practically do nothing to him, so he decided to answer as if he knew the mysterious person for now.

|| I was just curious to see what the academy would cover, as I will be trying to get there myself in the not too distant future. ||

|| I never thought I'd meet someone so eager to learn, but don't worry, your father has informed us of your condition. You can just call me Allen, I hope we become great friends. ||

Allen seemed to be a friendly young man, especially since he didn't force himself on Vincent, so the hero let his new friend spend time with him. They read together the books Vincent had brought, and when they had finished them, they played hide-and-seek or tag. The protagonist couldn't remember when he'd had so much fun; before he was transferred here, he had no friends of his own age. In fact, he had no one except Detective, with whom he was friends, but there was a ten-year difference between them. But back to the present, Vincent noticed that Allen was stronger and faster than he expected, he could easily reduce the distance between them when they played tag. Vincent was starting to get annoyed by the fact that his friend would corner him when it was his turn to be the tagger. And the worst part is the fact that the protagonist himself does Allen the favor, after all, he could have easily surpassed him, but that would have been too risky, so he decided to pretend to be an ordinary kid with a little better shape than the other kids, which ended up being a vicious circle. Hely, is an elderly woman with gray hair and salmon eyes, she looked like a gentle and kind person and she was, she was happy to spend time with the kids. Vincent understood why the rightful owner of this body liked this woman so much, Hely easily agreed to join in the fun, unfortunately she couldn't play with them for long due to work and her duties. As night fell and the air grew colder, the boy suggested that he and his new friend spend the rest of the time in his room where it would be warmer. Allen agreed without hesitation and then followed Vincent to his room; they didn't have to walk far as the boy's room was in the same corridor as the library and the garden.

|| Here's my room, forgive the small mess. ||

|| That's okay. Besides, it's hard to call it a mess when all you have is a mess on your desk. ||

Allen said as he walked over to the desk where he could see notes on various monsters as well as poisonous plants. He could easily see and read the sketches with descriptions of the weaknesses of each monster and recipes for poisons, but before he could take any of the sketches, Vincent took them all and put them in his notebook.

|| Forgive me, yesterday I sketched to myself out of boredom and left them on my desk just like that. ||

// What normal child draws monsters just to describe their weaknesses and ways of making poisons? //

Allen was confused, but he didn't let it show, especially since the boy standing next to him was trying not to show his anxiety. So he did what he should have done, smiled at the younger boy and pretended not to notice anything suspicious. Vincent, on the other hand, was not worried, but thoughtful, because if his new friend suspected something, the protagonist would have to silence him. He tried to smile in a friendly way, but thought about what to do, as if he had to silence Allan, which might make his smile look artificial, but fortunately for him, Allen would just smile back.

|| Nothing happened, I was more surprised by your ability to draw, those monsters looked realistic. ||

|| Thank you for the compliment. But I assure you that there will be people who are more talented than I am. ||

|| You say it as if you know such a person. ||

|| Because I know... I think...? ||

Vincent forgot himself for a second, which made him pause for a moment before he regained his composure, he could see a hint of sympathy in Allen's eyes, but he didn't know if that was a good sign, especially since he was about to start talking about his favorite detective. He would have to be more careful in the future, even though he was beginning to miss the one person who understood him. At the same time, his friend looked at his watch and realized that he was late.

|| Vincent, forgive me, but it looks like I've been sitting around a bit, I should be getting back, but I promise I'll try to visit you for longer tomorrow. ||

|| No harm done, and I will be grateful if you visit me tomorrow. ||

....
