Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Building The Shelter

A/N: I figured out what's the plot going to be.. I just need to figure out HOW to implement it.

So I lied, this isn't the fighting chapter. This is more on him making a temporary camp and the next is him living in that camp.

Imma cook now.. I have new writing tactics now

Rikuro's POV:

After that experimentation sequence, I decided to always use my 『Matter Destruction』on small things such as rocks so it could be more energy efficient. It's been about 2 hours now, and I encountered no animals as dangerous as the wolf.

Using the wolf canine's I killed 2 rabbits but the canine was so hard to use I decided to never use it as a weapon and only as a last resort.

Carrying the 2 rabbits over my shoulder like a sling bag, I continue walking and using my ability.

I figured out that, the only specification of my ability is that to use the ability, I would need my skin to be touching the victim, although on clusters such as the bug cluster before, it seems the destruction wave travels through them like one singular thing.

I keep walking and when I look at my watch, it is already 4:30 am. Due to the extreme cover of the forest, The area around me starts to get dark, not on the level of night time but dark enough that you would think it was already 6:00.

I quickly walk and try to find an area in the forest that makes it possible for a simple wooden tent to be built. I put my items down and quickly got all the materials I needed to build a shelter of course with the help of 『System Appraisal』I quickly find the materials that I need, well it was mostly dry wood, I also got some vines, tinder and some dry wood for the fire.

I decided to build a wooden tent, I started by putting a long stick about 200cm with a Y end on the front of the soon-to-be tent. On that Y intersection I put a long wood that will serve as the backbone of the tent.

I don't know much about building a tent or surviving in the wild for that matter, but based on the shows, boyscout lessons and anime I watched I have learned the basics of the basics.

By putting long leaves and sticks to strengthen said leaves I made a pretty good tent if I do say so myself.

'Now I just need a bed.. a bed of leaves stacked on top for maximum comfort. Yes! But besides that I need a fire, it's already getting dark.' I look at my watch and saw that it is already 5:00 am. The dense forest helps in making it dark.

I go and put rocks on a circle pattern with sticks and dry wood that rise up into a triangle. I put bits of tinder inside the campfire to make the burning of the campfire easier.

(A/N: You should know how a basic campfire should look right?)

I then go and put down a fireboard on the ground, the notch on it, already made. Fearing that I won't have enough time until sunset I quickly made the bow drill.

(A/N: A fireboard is a flat dry wood and the place where you put the tinder to burn)

I made the bow drill by taking one of the flexible sticks and putting the string. Before I attach the string on the other side of the stick, I quickly spun it around the spindle before attaching it onto the other end of the bow.

I made the spindle by using some flint I found on the ground and using it to sharpen the end of the spindle onto a point.

You might be saying, 'USE THE FLINT AND STEEL METHOD!!' in which I answer, 'I DON'T HAVE CHARCLOTH FOR THE FLINT AND STEEL, AND IM MORE COMFORTABLE USING THE BOW DRILL METHOD!!'

Securing the bow drill and the fireboard, I just needed to make the tinder cluster which can be easily done.

I took off my flannel jacket and I wrapped it around one of my hands. I then put some tinder on the notch in the fireboard. Now I then use the fire bow to start making the fire.

Putting the spindle on the notch where the tinder is, I put my clothed hand on top of the spindle to keep it in place. Now then, I quickly move the bow of the bow drill back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.

Seeing the small sparks on the tinder, I keep moving the fire drill until the sparks on the tinder are more prominent. Without missing a beat I put the cloth in my clothes arm next to the tent and I pick up the tinder cluster and put it on the burning tinder which in turn burns the tinder cluster too.

I use burn loosely here as no "fire" is made but it does turn the tinder into supposedly coal.

(A/N: Y'know the black residue from burning things)

I then carefully put the tinder cluster on the tinder inside the campfire. Seeing those sparks again, I blew into the campfire before and because of that a tiny fire has been made.

*Crackle, crackle*

*Pop*

*Crackle*

Hearing the noise of fire burning the wood, I wiped the sweat around my face. The surroundings were almost already dark.

I quickly took some more wood and more leaves. Using the leaves I made a makeshift bed inside the tent. Using some of my wood and sticks I made a place holder where you will put the stick with the meat in it.

(A/N: Something like this →)

Using my flint I took the fur off the rabbits and decided to store it into my plastic bag. My plastic bag (bloodied) that was once filled with rocks, bugs and a broken cup noodle is now holding rabbit fur, sticks, wood, vines, flints, that one canine from the wolf, and the bow drill. The rabbit fur can be a source of income if I find civilization, because I don't think they will accept Japanese Yen.

I wear my bloodied flannel jacket back and then look at the time

6:00 am.

The surroundings area that surrounds me was now pitch black.

*Crackle*

*Crackle*

*Pop*

*Awoooooo!!*

*Crackle*

The only noise I could hear was the crackling of the fire and the howl of some Wolves far away.

I wasn't hungry so I just inserted the sticks through the rabbit to pass the time and to use if I was hungry.
