Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Terrible Pressure

Rikuro's POV:

Looking at the man in front of me, I can see that he's shocked, is it because I woke up or because I killed that bear.

His mouth wide open quickly shoots back to their original position. The man quickly regains his composure.

'Though, I wonder where my items are at?'

Contemplating about my current state, the man inches slowly, he moves with animosity and caution.

'He must have seen the dead bear, he must think I'm someone powerful.'

The man is now on the side of my bed, on the left where the open window was. He then opened his mouth and.. talked?

His voice was muffled, I can't even make out what he's saying, is he mute? Not knowing what I should do, I made a gesture that means stop, the kind that shows your palm to the person.

You get it right?

Anyways, the person stopped moving their mouth and looked at me in confusion, he must think the gesture that I'm doing is weird or that I'm weird for stopping him.

'Well.. how can I talk to him? Writing, maybe but I don't even know their language.. he must have something written here.'

I signaled him to follow me, which he did. Now I walked out of the room I was in, there I saw the inside of a cabin, its walls are made of smooth stone, the lanterns on the wall turned off.

I try to look for signs or books, anything that I can use to see words.

After looking around in this man's house, I found a book, the man confused tapped my shoulder and looked at me confused. His voice is still muffled, I tried to hear him better by taking the bandages on my head and cupping my ears but that only made it louder, I still can't understand a thing.

I just looked back  into the title of the book, surprisingly the book was titled, [Swordsmanship 101] this man is probably a swordsman, but I don't care about that, the book is in English.

'English huh.. am I in Britain.. and swordsmanship? In this day and age?'

I look at him and thought, 'Yeah, an English man alright.'

After putting the book back to where I found it I then looked for a pen, or anything that I could use to write.

I then gave up on finding it myself, I turned around and asked him. "Do you have any writing equipment?"

Though my voice was a little quieter than I thought it would be, the man still heard it.

He shrugged his shoulders signaling that he doesn't know, I guess he's given up on talking now.

'But how could he talk to me? Does he know sign language? I guess he should but then, why wasn't he using it before?'

I shrugged the thought out of my hand, and asked if I could go outside. The man signaled me to follow him.

'I guess it's his turn now'

Rikuro: "Where are we going then?"

I asked him, I said my words louder this time to make myself clearer, though he held his ears and looked at me in surprise.

'Was I loud, no way.. I made myself louder but that was only because I talked quieter before,  is his ears sensitive? I'll just lower my tone then.'

I apologized to the man, he then pointed to a house that seems to be a bit bigger than the others.

'A village chief's house? Oh he probably will ask me about myself, I mean I was laying with a dead bear.'

I followed him to the front of the "house". He then signaled me to stop and he went inside first. It seems this is indeed the Chief's house as guards, well guard the house.

Looking around the village, it seems to be Europe indeed, the houses look the same as the ones I saw on the internet. Most of the people here have brown hair or blonde hair, and some have black like me.

'No unnatural hair color yet to be seen.'

It seems the village is small yet is big enough to hold at least one hundred villagers.

Before I could continue roaming about, the man I was with before tapped my shoulder and opened the door to the house.

The inside of the house looks better than the swordsman's house, although everything is made of wood, the art, rugs and design of the place makes it different from any other big wooden house, it also has a second floor.

The man led me into a room underground, a basement probably.

And on that stony basement there are two chairs facing each other with a table separating them, on the chair far from me is an old man sitting down, the old man has long gray hair with a long beard too, the eyes of this man were shadowed, he has some muscles that were showing. Near the old man lies some paper and an ink and quill

I sat down on the chair nearest to me and I looked at the paper on the table.

[Hello Traveller, care for an explanation?]

The atmosphere became tense and even the swordman accompanying me was sweating.

My heart rate shot up and the only words that escaped the clutches of my mouth were.

"Who.. are.. you?"
