Chapter 7 - 7

"Duke Ceaser Valentine and Duchess Vivian Valentine" the man announced our arrival. Everyone laid their eyes on us. And soon began the whispers going around. By now I'm used to it.

As we began our way to the royal family people never diverted their eyes from us. This was going to be a good drama for them. Everyone knows about the unrequited love my husband has for the Crown Princess and everyone knows I was the one who got in the way.

"She's not even that pretty, Her highness is so much better."

I know I'm not that pretty. I can hear such comments one after another. If I heard them Ceaser must've heard it too. As if looking for hope I took a peek at him. As expected he still had his neutral face, looking forward high and might he doesn't care if someone says his wife is ugly. I feel defeated I looked down not wanting as I couldn't keep my head up.

When we stood in front of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, I realised how amazing they looked together. People are right they truly are the couple made in heaven. Crown Prince Augustus Veon, the only son of the current Emperor and the only heir to the throne, a man equally on par with my husband. His short dark hair and golden eyes really compliment each other. And of course his wife Jesseline, the most beautiful woman in this Empire. The two were talking happily before we came.

Once again I find myself jealous of you Jesseline, how can your husband smile like that and talk to you. How can he look at you with a proud look? What did you do? How can he hold your hand so warmly and lovingly? How can he laugh when you whispered something in his ears? Tell me I wanna know.

The two royal couple finally noticed our presence, it's as expected the awkward atmosphere comes creeping in. These three people who once were the best of friends were now awkward and silent just because two of them got together. My husband who looked at Jesseline with pain and Jesseline who avoided his gaze with nervousness. So no one is going to speak.

Guess I'll start then. "Congratulations on having a son, Your Royal Highnesses..." I said. Everyone here quickly snapped back and smiled back. They thanked me for my wishes.

"May I give a blessing to our new Prince?"

The Royal couple happily showed their son. Ah such a beautiful son from a beautiful parents. One look and you could see this child was really the Crown Prince's son. Jesseline you've given me another reason to be jealous of you again. You are so good at it.

"May you have the best in everything Little Prince." The baby Prince held my finger when I tried to pat his head. Such small and soft finger, I wish I was a mother too. Should I just kidnap you Little Prince? I'm sure I'll be a great mother. Well I'll also die so I can't do that.

"He seems to like you Duchess Vivian." Jesseline said with a smile. Oh give him time and he too will hate me like everyone else. My husband who watched this interaction finally opened his mouth, "Congratulations." His voice was sweet and warm. A tone I've never heard.

After giving our wishes we separated. I went to the food section. I'm eating whatever I want tonight. As I started picking one by one in my plate the wishpers began again. If you wanna say something say it to my face. It's irritating my ears when you meant to not let that someone hear you and that someone heard it.

I found myself an empty table and sat down.

"Vivian?" I heard my name called. I turned to see who it was. Ah I forgot about him. The man was tall, tan and a scar on the corner of his lip. Captain Felix Sussox, my childhood friend.
